No, because no one has been able to replicate their success. Georgia has been dumping loads of cash for the last six years since Kirby got there but previously never got over the hump. As others have mentioned, doubt was beginning to creep into fans' minds that maybe it would never work. Bama was a machine that seemed impossible to replicate.

It's not about "replicating success". You just said that UGa's win proved that you can buy a title. And I said that Alabama has been buying titles for over a decade. There was a literal LSU alum on the field of the national championship game handing out money after the 2019 season. Clemson has paid. Ohio Taint has paid. The Gaytor fans complain that they haven't been paying enough since Urban left.

I'm just saying that last night's pick-six swing of the game did not suddenly establish that championships can be purchased. THAT conclusion has been pretty obvious since Maurice Clarett.

On the other hand, we have no idea how long Kirby Smart will be at UGa. Outside of Saban-Bama, let's look at the history of SEC coaches who won National Championships...

2019 - LSU - Orgeron - fired 2 years later
2010 - Auburn - Chizik - fired 2 years later
2008 - Florida - Meyer - "medically retired" 2 years later

Let's see if Kirby is still running UGa in 3 years. If so, he'll be the first SEC coach (not named Saban) to make it to Year Championship+3 in 15 years.
If Kirby isn't fired, where would he bounce to? Hard to believe he'd willingly leave with what he has going on at UGA. And with the money UGA has invested into their program, it is hard to see them firing him.
Ed O and Chizik were both corches that landed a first round draft pick QBs.

And Kirby is a corch who fvcked up his QB position for years until a WALK-ON saved his a$$. Look, we never thought Super-Cajun would lose his job at LSU, but he did. I don't know what the next two years might hold for Kirby, but it's an interesting SEC (non-Saban) trend. ****, I don't even think Saban will be coaching in 2024.

When we flipped Skinner from Bama, they were about to play in the playoffs. Stop with this oh they won natty so he going there. We got something new and different going on. Moss spoke of the excitement they have to be the first class to make us what we once was. Maybe even better. The hometown kids of '23 are feeling it. Im sure Shemar is. Moss also said he knows Shemar likes the U. Is it enough to make him commit, not sure but im confident. 3 weeks to go.

I’m sure you don’t need me telling you this but you’re a really insightful dude. I enjoy most of your posts just cause I learn something or remember something I overlooked. You’re like a walking Snapple top

If Mario pulls this one out he’s a god amongst men, going against the two biggest bag schools going and barstool state..
He’s a top recruit. From a local high school. That Miami’s been recruiting since he was 12. And who had an offer from Oregon. It’ll be 2 months on campus for Mario. He’s an elite recruiter and a trench master. We get the last visit.

Get it done.

Let’s ******* go!

If Mario makes the ol efficient in run blocking next season then he’s a God.

If I’m Bama I’d be more concerned since Kirby can now say we are the new Bama now since Saban isn’t coaching another 10 years.

They can sell we have everything that Bama has but we are closer to ATL.

I appreciate it, sir. Been a college football fan my whole life, I've seen UM's ups and downs, I know that things tend to run in cycles. Step back, take in the big picture, observe/assess the trends.

At the same time, I'm glad that UM has finally addressed the ways in which we have fallen behind.

Lots of good players and coaches out there to snag. We just have to make good decisions. Everything else will work itself out.

If Mario is who we think he is and we are spending actual money get it ******* done.

These are the recruits that change the paradigm.

Believe it or not, but if you know you know.. and Kirby’s run didn’t have too much longer.. a championship just kept the resources flowing, kept his job for as long as he wanted. A loss here tonight and we wouldn’t have had to worry about Georgia anymore for a good while. Now.. well.. you’ll see
That's just plain false.

Whats getting me with these freak out about Bama and UGA....UGA had one player from south FL, Marvin Jones. Bama also had one player from south FL, Earl Jr. The rest from FL for both teams were other part of the state , IMG mainly. Their recruiting prowess was going national. We can and have the ability to go big nationally as both of them....once we take care of home first. The problem we had wasnt Bama and UGA loading up on our players, it was that multiple schools would take turns sharing our top local targets. Consider, we almost had the 4 best players in south FL go to 4 separate schools. Kelly to Oregon, Stewart to A&M, Little to Bama and Jones to UGA. It was 2 late for the Heritage 2. But we got Kelly and closing on Stewart fingers crossed. That's not happening from here on. U can put money on it. And we are gonna challenge from players on other schools areas. Coast to Coast. We dont need to stop Bama and UGA. We need to get our share. And not be fighting GT and schools like that for plan B and C kids who need hella development.

The Kirby situation feels different though. He's a UGA alum, and has been securing top recruiting classes for the past 6 years. I'd be willing to bet he's still the head coach in 4 years. He's built the team through top recruiting (whether bags or not, he gets the horses needed to win the race). He managed to win despite not having Cam Newton or Burrow behind the center, because he's built a strong roster the rest of the way through.

Idk how many people thought Ed O was a great coach after winning, or if he just had the right players with the right staff at the right time. Auburn fans always want to fire their head coach, so that one isn't surprising. As for Meyer, I hate having to acknowledge this, but he also won in 06, so that "medical retirement" is 2 years after his 2nd title, but 4 years after his first.

Kirby has support from the UGA boosters and fans, who have demonstrated a lot of patience and just got rewarded for it. Unless they get complacent now that they've finally won, the money dries up, and he stops being able to recruit, he's still coaching UGA come 2025
