2022 Shemar Stewart goes A2M

I'm not sure what the personal angle is about. He was married for however long, had children with this woman, provided handsomely for his family, and she did whatever she did. It's never one sided, she got attention elsewhere, and how he chose to deal with involuntarily or voluntarily is his business. I think having an opinion on how he handled that and not knowing more than a snippet from news sources is a bit low. I know not seeing my kids daily (maybe he does, maybe he got custody, I don't know) would be traumatic.

A&M did pay handsomely for him. What they've done is put forth a massive amount of money to better their football program. Things don't happen overnight, but they look to be making strides and that starts with recruiting. Their classes are getting better and they did best Bama, who had recruited better than them every year but this one.

No clue if he'll bring them a ship, but he's getting bodies in there that can give them a run at it if everything comes together.
I didn’t espouse on how he handled it. I just noted what my motivations would have been if my wife screwed around on me. I would make sure that she would recognize that she is the one that lost out by her actions. I guess to some degree he did by signing the enormous contract with ATM.

I still don’t see the it factor with that team. Perhaps it’s having the other pieces of the puzzle but not the showcase piece in a qb. We have the opposite problem where much of our team is a mess (especially areas in the d side) with seemingly the exception of a qb, but now have someone with a somewhat proven track record taking the helm at qb.

I guess my whole point is that with two teams that are not the top echelon of the game right now (yes, they beat Bama last year, but have lost to substantially worse competition at times too), and with one team that has outpaced the other by leaps and bounds with a championship winning coach, you would expect them to be further along. Either they are super close which is a move of faith, or they are in the second tier, which we very well could be now with competent coaching ourselves. Neither one is a proven commodity.

So what’s the big draw considering you have tremendous competition for playing time there (as a true freshman) versus a spot where you likely start and get to be close to your family? As I said, I wear orange and green glasses, but I believe that we should be in this just as much as ATM for the other reasons.

Sat down with a UGA coach today, and a few high school guys, including one of Shemar's former coaches.

They don't seem to think he's headed to Miami. Nobody at the table did, and quite a few of them are connected. 🤷🏻‍♂️ UGA coach thinks it's down to them and TAMU.
At least one person seemed to think that Miami not having a DC yet is playing a part.

Don't shoot the messenger.
You know how fluid this recruiting stuff is. Let's hope Miami can pull it out.

SIDENOTE: He weighed in at 290 during his visit.
I figured not having a dc would hurt but nah people said Mario knows. This is why you finalize a staff. You habe a game changing recruit that wants to come and a dc could seal it

But as I’ve said a million times, he likes it there.
Yuck, I can't imagine why.

Also all you people banging the drum for the "college towns" it's funny you all say this, but I've known lots of football players at Clemson, and familiar with UGA players too, and you know what they do on some weekends and to have fun? They go to Charlotte and Atlanta. So no I don't buy that crap.

Not during the season because of time commitments, but the other 38 weeks of the year.

Yall keep downplaying the DC thing, but it's real.
That's the main thing opposing coaches are using to recruit against us. Even Dorlus is concerned about it, and it's one of the big reasons he hasn't transferred to Miami yet.
I wouldn't doubt if Moten and Thomas are concerned as well.

Anyone downplaying it is a homer. We would be using it as leverage ourselves if the tables were turned.

Slurpers Are back. Look mario is gknna Be a good coach for us And he’s an elite recruiter, but if a kid wants a dc in place and you habe 2 months to do that and you didn’t, it’s a misstep no matter the coach. Most staffs are filled out and we have an entire d staff to go. It isn’t normal no matter what spin you wanna believe

Hire the DC today if it's been Belk for weeks as many have alluded to, and at least get that excuse out of the god**** way.

Agreed. It’s tough to just go off of someone’s word and trust a guy who’s just hired for your next 3-5 years. Kids want to see examples of how they will be used on the field and projections/player comps in schemes.

I mean you don’t have to buy it. For every guy you know there’s the opposite guy too that’s all I’m expressing. My brother chose to go to Norman Oklahoma cause he was tired of city life as a teenager

It's a real concern. If any of us were in Shermar's shoes that would be our biggest concern as well. If I'm Mario I'm stressing to him that he will at least know the guy he will be working with the most, the guy who will develop him for the league, the guy who is about to put a top 3 pick at Shemar's position in the NFL draft... Joe Salave'a.

I'm not downplaying it. I fully expect if we dont have one in place this weekend to lose out on those targets. This is on Mario if it plays out that way. Shemar Stewart was a slam dunk once he was hirer. He got him to hold off from committing. Took multiple unofficial visits here, cancelled his ATM visit, has the last official here. And we cant even have a DC in place? Seriously?

Dan Lanning was busy winning a championship and has a staff already assembled. Pure malpractice if we dont have something by today.

he got hired after Mario too

I guess that's what I'm trying to say..... Joe Salave'a is more important than any 4-3/4-2-5 coach that might come. Mario already told him he will be playing DE.... What else need to be said? All DEs play the same role in those schemes.

this. haven't people heard, this city is great to visit but I couldn't live there? people love to visit other places for a weekend to party, hang out, etc., but don't wanna live there day to day. its not unheard of. not everyone has to love living in a big city. Shemar grew up in SFL. he likely wants just get the **** out of south Florida and explore. that's not uncommon for any teenager in any city. UF, FSU, UCF, etc. get a ton of SFL kids to go there. a lot of them wanted to get the **** away from home and be on their own.

Clear as day what's going on now. Mario has the guys he wants but they themselves aren't sure. Now Mario is in a tough spot, get the right hire or rush it to keep a recruit(s). It sucks but its a no brainer, make the right hire.

Yeah it's not 100% across board, but majority from what I've seen.

I hung out with a 5 star Clemson player from Florida, had an injury, so he was out for some games during season. We watched a Clemson road game on tv with a group, he was disinterested whole time, we asked how he like Clemson, he was like it's alright just boring and nothing to do.

But he isn't only ones I knew of many football players that would go to ATL many weeks during off-season.

Not saying 100%, but a good majority if they say they want to get away, it's code for im taking a bag to go to that crap hole.

Then he was never the guy. You dont spend 8 weeks on a maybe on the eve of NSD.

I agree and Ill take it a step further. It isn't that Shemar. is dead set on leaving, he probably loves Miami and may just as well stay in Miami. Now that doesnt mean that he cant find both options appealing for different reasons and overall is torn on what the move is. Most things in life just aren't binary.

and he may still want to know who the DC is. Joe isn't the DC. he isn't developing the game plan. he isn't calling the defensive plays. hes a position coach. no more no less. shemar has said from his own mouth that a DC is important to him. why are you guys debating it when its important to the kid. if he chooses to go elsewhere, it could be for a number of reasons out of a DC, but if the DC hire is the difference between landing him or not, then yes its a failure on our part. we had 8 weeks to find a DC. if its belk, it would be announced. its obviously not finalized

Bruh... Shemar is a freaking DE that's going to rush the QB lol.... that's in ANY SCHEME. Like that's not freaking rocket science. The only thing he's EVER complained about was not wanting to be a DT! which he has said himself!
