OMG!!! The defense is dominating the offense. WTF happened?

That was the commentary on grassy.com early in the fall camp before the 2001 season. If the defense is any good, it will always be ahead of the offense.

Before any one hits the panic button, we need to see delta between the first and second scrimmages. Then we’d have a better read how things are coming together.

Man I remember practice reports of Dorsey throwing balls in the dirt driving grassy into panic mode.

It’s true. You can’t win with practices and scrimmages. Either the offense is great because the defense sucks or the defense is great because the offense sucks.

Much of the elite staff left with Butch. After Coker purged the staff after the LSU Peach Bowl what was left were yes men that wouldn’t challenge him.

Seems fair and reasonable to be curious about the offensive approach and coaching coming off a 7-6 season where we went from “Run the clock out?”, “I’m trying to end this ************ right here" to Matt Lee's "What the **** are we doing?" in 3 weeks and lost 4 of our last 5 games...

We loaded up on the offense with big gets at QB. WR and RB...

I think Dawson is alright, but our TEs had less than 20 catches combined for the SEASON last year. That’s criminal.

So if you give the TE another 20 catches who do you take the 20 receptions away from?

We’ve gotta make more plays down the field. We need to catch the ball and get vertical quicker. That turns into explosive plays. Running backs need to make the free guy miss more. Don't get tackled by the free guy. Last year, yards before contact, we were one of the top in the nation. But we gotta get more at that point.

We’re stressing that playing fast, getting up the field and making that guy miss is who we need to be. If you wanna be more explosive on offense, the plays are what they are. The touches are what they are. Once you get the ball in the hand, then make a play. Have great ball security, get up the field and make that first guy miss.

this man is the biggest threat to our season. if he call many more games the way he called 2 of the 13 games last year, show more variety in the run game, demonstrate the ability to adjust during the game and not completely ignore a talented tight end position group we might be okay. until he proves otherwise there will should be plenty of reason for skepticism
