I don’t think many teams come firing on all cylinders for offense week one of camp. That being said I’ll be nervous if it’s week 3 hearing these reports.
But is it Cam having the issues or is it when he’s not in we look like ****. Because that matters.I don’t think many teams come firing on all cylinders for offense week one of camp. That being said I’ll be nervous if it’s week 3 hearing these reports.
If we’re gonna crush coaches for being journeymen, it’s gonna be a tough road for these dudes. They’re almost exclusively journeymen.
However, in Dawson’s case, he’s made numerous stops, but most of them centered around Dana Holgorsen.
Dawson’s first year coaching big boy football was 2011, under Holgorsen. That was Dana’s first year in Morgantown, and he snagged Dawson to coach receivers because Dana coached Dawson when he played. He spent 4 years with him, but it’s known that Dana is a very hands on offensive coach, so it’s not really a surprise that Dawson jumped at the opportunity to coach in the SEC at Kentucky, for a defensive coach, aka to have the offense all to himself. That year in Lexington was awful, but it was one year, and he went to Southern Miss from there. They were good for 3 years, and he jumped back with Dana when he took the gig at Houston.
Guidry is the golden boy around here, and I get it. I like him too. But what if I told you Miami’s offense was better than their defense in 2023 nationally in scoring and yards per play?
Stats can be misleading just like his TAMU performance as we didn’t see it again for 10 games until BC. Was Dawson an upgrade from Gattis? Hard not to be but it was visible too. Guidry made us look the part for the majority of games with a flaw in big play TDs.If we’re gonna crush coaches for being journeymen, it’s gonna be a tough road for these dudes. How about the RB?I think Dawson is alright, but our TEs had less than 20 catches combined for the SEASON last year. That’s criminal.
It always take the O a few games, especially with a new qb, it doesn’t matter how good Cam is. They have to get the timing and execution downWould not be one bit surprised to see the O struggle out of the gate vs the Gates.
If Cam and the receivers do not have their **** together we will see a lot of Martinez and many on this board will start crying about the play calling.
Strength of this team will be the D and they will have to win the day in Gainsville. It may take the O a few games to get going.
My brother in Christ, the greatest QB whisperer in football history wasn’t turning Emory Williams into a good quarterback. At least not as a true freshman.
I noted that Dawson didn’t ace the season and did a lot of questionable things but I don’t know what kind of gameplan or play calling would have overcome the quarterback issues last year.
Exactly. After Clemson all the QB experts here were blaming Dawson for not opening it up enough for Emory. There’s a reason why he wasn’t allowed to throw passes beyond the line of scrimmage against Clemson. He went 8-23 against FSU. Almost all his yardage came on two passes to Jacolby George that were just 50/50 balls that George beat the db for. I give him credit for toughness but that kid had no business being on the field in either of those games.During the FSU game when Emory threw his 3rd straight incomplete pass, it was right there I understood why Dawson had scaled down the offense so much in the previous weeks
Dawson still suckedExactly. After Clemson all the QB experts here were blaming Dawson for not opening it up enough for Emory. Not their precious Emory the gawdDuring the FSU game when Emory threw his 3rd straight incomplete pass, it was right there I understood why Dawson had scaled down the offense so much in the previous weeks
My eyes wouldn’t care because they saw a defense that consistently kept bailing out an offense that couldn’t do much and kept putting their D in awful positions. If we’re gonna crush coaches for being journeymen, it’s gonna be a tough road for these dudes. They’re almost exclusively journeymen.

Did we have any serviceable TEs? All we had was a true freshman and Cam McCormick, essentially another blocker.I think Dawson is alright, but our TEs had less than 20 catches combined for the SEASON last year. That’s criminal.
He’s mid. He’s nothing spectacular but compared to pretty much every OC we’ve had the last 20 years (besides Lashlee) he’s a genius. We seem to be using the Georgia blueprint anyway where we just try to out talent every opponent so actually having a good OC isn’t as important.Dawson still sucked
Valid points but Dawson needs to earn his paycheck and fix this offense. He has the QB, weapons and schedule to be a top 25 offense and average close to 40 ppg.Would not be one bit surprised to see the O struggle out of the gate vs the Gates.

This would be a good plan if any elite team like Georgia actually had this blueprint lol. You need great coaching and talentHe’s mid. He has the most to prove of all the coaches, imoValid points but Dawson needs to earn his paycheck and fix this offense. He has the QB, weapons and schedule to be a top 25 offense and average close to 40 ppg.
