We couldve def won against one of the lower ranked CFP teams but thats the ceiling, there just wasnt enough on D to make us championship level. With the back 7 we had on defense? I'd say definitely in the playoff, maybe win a game, but no way in the championship game, even with a 3 headed DC of Buddy Ryan, Bill Belichick, and Vic Fangio.
Allar da gawd...
What an awful semifinal game...
Also ND Law alum Um undergrad was there tonight spending time and watching the game with Tim Brown and Tony Rice. So I am one of the rare ones also.I am an ND Law alum and adjunct professor at the law school. My wife went to St. Mary’s, which is the “sister school” to ND. It is a women’s school and before 1972 ND was solely a men’s school. My oldest daughter is at ND and my second oldest is a freshman at the U.
I have a lot of strong connections to ND. My FIL was the team physician for 30 years (until BK) and I know all kinds of people in various roles there from top to bottom. Most people I know, including my entire family, are ND diehards. I go to all the football and bball games with my son.
I love Notre Dame the school—it’s an amazing place. But I never really got into ND football when I was young and I fell in love with Miami when JJ rolled into town. So the U is my team and I take my kids to Miami/Coconut Grove/Coral Gables about once a year, and that is how my daughter also fell in love with it. I’m thus one of the rare Miami fans who also has an affinity for ND, Probably more than you wanted, but that’s the story.

This is college football. There’s parity (at least there is this year) and that’s probably not going away.No fkn way those are 2 of the best four teams....
Playoff needs tweaking already.
I think the part that needs tweaking the most is strength of schedule and the ability to put teams in that have a great player or are really effective on one side of the ball. To try to make a comparison in match madness they’re are plenty of final four worthy p4’s that don’t win a regular season or tournament championship but end up in the final 4. I think the expanded cfp should be like that. This is college football. There’s parity (at least there is this year) and that’s probably not going away.
Get used to feeling like there’s nothing but flawed teams and feeling like the best teams don’t always make it to the CFP finals.
