Scrimmage take...

Do you think our leading running back managing 12 yards did us any favors? Honest question. I, myself, did not realize how bad we were running the ball when I watched it live. Rosier's poor play stood out most watching live, I'll agree. But 12 yards? Maybe we were having an inaccurate QB with a hurt shoulder and none of his top targets in the line up to do too much because we couldn't run the ball.
Small little breakdown: 1st of all Ahmmon, Herndon, Berrios, and Thomas were ALL playing in this game - at least to start.
Homer got 7 carries for 12 yards. While he wasn't hitting big runs, most of them were decent gains. In the first half he barely got any carries and except for one 3rd down run where he couldn't get 4 yards to the corner, and one run where St Louis got beat literally immediately (loss of 4), he wasn't doing all that bad, below average but not really bad. 3rd downs were the problem, and Rosier got a sack on one, made a horrible throw on one, and just a few more not great throws/decisions. Pitt was literally just blitzing the **** out of us because they knew they had nothing to fear from Rosier in the passing game. And when Pitt would blitz Rosier would immediately pull the ball and his eyes down and scramble (rather than pass to open guy and take the hit).

In the second half the first run was blown up becuase one of our blockers tripped and gave guys an easy tackle for a loss on Homer. The very next play Rosier ******* missed a god **** bubble screeen, truly horrible pass. 3rd down play was a terrible rb screen that Pitt was all over but Homer still turned it to a gain of 3 (needed 9). FIRST play of next drive is a deep ball to Richards who was wide open. Followed that up by throwing a slant at berrios' feet. 3rd down he made a great play for a 1st at least....Our OL really struggled to block for the run this game. Homer literally had no chance to do anything. Combine that with Rosier being inept on most passes AND not even attempting a pass when Pitt blitzed, and it was a bad day, especially on 3rd down.......Didn't even give Richards a chance on deep ball. Followed that by ******* Missed another ******* screen to berrios. Then on 3rd down throwing a ******* post to the outside like a dumbass. he got pulled next drive and Shireff sucked. Rosier comes back and starts hitting some throws FINALLY. Surprised he didnt miss this WIDE OPEN TD to berrios tbh. Recover onside kick, Rosier eventually gets stripped and pitt recovers. And thats game. Rosier had like 4 tipped passes also.

The OL was at fault for the run game (not the RBs). But the OL did a fine job in pass blocking, the only time any pressure really got to Rosier was when Pitt blitzed and they had more guys rushing than we had blocking. The thing about that is Rosier should have been able to identify where the blitz was coming from and know thered be someone open. He didn't...at all. He would just take his eyes down and run, sometimes for a sack, sometimes for a gain of 1 or 2. And like once for a good run getting a 1st.
.....Theres a reason Rosier got pulled from this game.

say huh???????????

It was just a bad game all around. Rosier was in a position to bail out the team by hitting even just a few of his missed throws. But it isn't like he cost a team that was playing really well around him either, bc they were not. I also understand that the QB sets the tone for the team, but it still does not excuse the rest of the teams play. He did bail out the team a few times already last season and they could have and should have sucked it up and stepped up if he was playing ******, it was only Pitt. Just need to move on from that game. Team loss. It was a bad game the day after Thanksgiving in the armPitt. Terrible time for a bad game though for sure.

Yeah man. 1.7 yard per carry is quality stuff. And the O-line played great except when Pitt blitzed more guys than we could block.

Earth shaking stuff right there. Our leading rusher gains 12 yards and the QB spends all day getting strip-sacked and running for his life.

Ken Dorsey was sacked 4 times on 322 drop backs in all of 2001 and we averaged 204 yards per game rushing. That’s an O-line. Don’t expect 2001 results when you’re a Pro-style offense that can only manage 133 yards rushing on average and ******* Pitt, PITT, can hold you to 12 yards.

Are these guys serious with some of this ****? Tell me their trolling Cannon, please tell me that......

He started off with like 3 carries for like 11 yards. in the first half (which was the half that paragraph was about).
Every single bad run he had I swear to god the OL just let 2+ guys get to Homer practically untouched.
Point is it wasn't on the RBs why the run game was bad. Even if homer made the first or even 2nd guy miss everytime, the OL just was ****.
Plus Pitt was blitzing almost the entire game (because they didn't respect Rosier as a QB one bit) And it took away the run and Rosier was completely unwilling to take the hit to complete the throw.

You're an idiot. You know why Dorsey wasn't sacked? Because if teams were going to blitz on him he could identify it and knew where to go with the ball. Rosier DOES NOT KNOW THIS! Rosier the minute he sensed pressure, brings his eyes down and tries to scramble. A good Qb will get it to his outlet or just attack the area of the field the blitzer came from. Again the Pass Blocking was good. The Run blocking was ***.

Rosier ain’t good enough to carry the team. He’s a tough SOB that don’t get rattled easy, and if we’re in striking distance with the clock running out I’ll take him over anybody we’ve had in a long time. He can be a game manager if he’s got a handle on the system the way they say, and he’s mobile enough to manufacture a first down or two. That’s it.

Yeah Malik was a 54% passer and Dorsey was a 56% passer in 2001. Huge difference.

And in the two games that were close that year he was in the 46-48% range.

He had a TEAM he could lean on when he wasn’t playing well.

And stop making excuses for our ****-poor O-line play and run game. The notion that teams shut us down because they didn’t have to respect Rosier is bull****. Set aside Rosier’s 3600 yards and 31 TDs. Every team in the top 15 of the final AP poll was at least 25 places ahead of us in rushing yards per game, and a lot of those teams had crap QBs.

Everybody knew GaTech couldn't throw the ball and was just gonna line it up and run the football. They ranked 3rd in rushing YPG.
Everybody knew Notre Dame couldn't throw the ball and was just gonna line it up and run the football. They ranked 8th in rushing YPG.
Everybody knew UGA couldn't throw the ball and was just gonna line it up and run the football. They ranked 9th in rushing YPG.
Everybody knew Bama couldn't throw the ball and was just gonna line it up and run the football. They ranked 10th in rushing YPG.
Everybody knew Ohio State couldn't throw the ball and was just gonna line it up and run the football. They ranked 15th in rushing YPG.
Auburn was 21st.
Wisconsin was 22nd.

We should never EVER be sitting here trying to figure out how Pitt held our feature back to 12 yards. You can't blame that on Rosier. We should be able to sit Rosier and play them 10 on 11 and gain 50 yards rushing.

Y'all want to talk about how Rosier fell apart the last three games and cost us the season, but after ten games we were 10-0 and Travis Homer was sitting at 850 yards rushing on the season. With three games left Homer did not break 1,000 yards. In three games our #1 back gained 117 yards. 12 against Pitt. 41 against Clemson, and 64 against Wisconsin.

That is pathetic.

Homer and Dallas actually played well in our biggest games, as you can see by their Y/C being above 6. So literally Homer and Dallas played well while our QB played like ***

Yeezus now we are bashing homer because our love for rosier is so great
Why are you so **** bent on trying to argue something that nobody else is arguing.

Nobody—NOBODY— has said Rosier is accurate or even good. Yet you keep referring to a chart of QB accuracy. “Muh chart! Muh chart! Waaaa! Won’t somebody please argue that Rosier is an accurate passer? I have a chart!”

Nobody has said anything at all derogatory about Travis Homer. It ain’t his fault the O-line sucked ***! I could gain 12 yards in a game behind any offensive line in the top 15 of the AP poll except ours, and I’m 165 lbs and 5-5 is both my height and 40 time.

4 games this season we couldn’t get a running back 50 yards, and only broke 100 yards with a single back 4 times.

My thing is how can a few of you recognize that our O-line was the cause of our woes running the football, but lay all the blame at Rosier’s feet for not winning more than 10 games? Well, at least a few of you are consistent in your Rosier hate and blame him for us being so poor running the ball. A stupid proposition, considering Rosier set the record for rushing yards and TDs for a QB. But consistent, nonetheless.

Did we have a 100 yard rusher in any of the three games we lost?

Our leading running back in those three games had, 12 yards, 47 yards, and 64 yards. And against FSU our leading RB had 29 yards.

Dude you’ve been stroking off @calinative umstudent and his chart every other post. Be honest about your argument even if you’re not going to be honest about mine.
Wtf are you talking about you've been tongue punching your boy okie cane's taint. Bro you're on some other **** on the autism spectrum if you're bashing Travis homer rn. What is there to be honest about? Our starting rb lol he's a beast

Yes that year I think we win with Rosier, with all those nfl hall of famers? **** yea and Im a big Malik critic........bama qbs r trash except till now. They won with NFL caliber players everywhere else
Bama qbs were better than rosier. Greg mcelroy for his career at bama completed 66% of his passes. His senior year he completed 70%.

Aj mccaron never completed less than 62% of his passes and never threw over 7 picks in a season.

Those guys won't elite but they were accurate, took care of the ball, and got it to the recievers when it was time.
