Ryan Williams.. Is It Time To Start Him?

I did not give it a second thought to start Ryan...I am going to continue to trust Morris...

IMHO that ankle is really not helping him...not to mention I think this maybe where we miss some of Jedd's steady development of Morris

but I trust this staff...we will figure it out......I am happy about Wake being our next opponent...We have to play flawless against FSU...or find holes in their defense

Stephen's Morris's ankle must really be bothering him. His footwork is all off.

I'd say 80% of his throws were made while falling backwards. I understand he was pressured, but there were throws with a clean pocket where he did the same thing.

Do we give Ryan Williams the Wake game, let Morris "rest," and see what we got?

3 TDs and 6 INTs in two ACC games for Morris.

I have a feeling Golden will have Morris on a tighter leash from henceforth.

Yes, I think so. You can EASILY just say its to rest Morris' ankle and get him healthy.

To be honest, I dont think it would be lying either. Its obvious Morris' ankle is not fully healed. He cant scramble, and I think its the main reason we dont put him under center much. We are using those slow devleoping run plays because its what he can do. He's also afraid to step into the pocket and throw, he is often stepping back as he throws.

Mentally he's also not right. He's getting happy feet more and more. He's making horrible mistakes out there, and when he gets pressured, its a disaster waiting to happen. I shudder to think what is going to happen when we face FSU, or even VT and they bring major heat on him.

Maybe sitting him for a game will light a fire under his @ss and force him to refocus. But to be honest, we have won IN SPITE of him the last few weeks. He HAS made some great throws, no question, but his mistakes were also the reason those games were as close as they were. IF not for CRITICAL mistakes in the red zone, we win GT and UNC comfortably.

Morris has a LOT of talent, and a phenomenal arm, but the kid is lacking between the ears, and at this level, I would rather have a smart QB, with a so so arm, than a rocket arm that makes horrible decisions.

We arent going to be as lucky if Morris does this sH8t against VT and FSU.

You don't bench your senior QB and one of the leaders of the team. You just don't.

He had a bad game. He'll bounce back.

When does the performance on the field become bad enough to outweigh the allegiance?

3 TDs and 6 INTs in the last two games, both ACC match-ups. I don't know if it's the ankle or it's mental, but he's on a bad run right now. We've out-talented our last two opponents despite the turnovers, but it can't happen against good teams.

Maybe a two week vacation for him would help.

Agreed, people dont fully realize just how BAD he's been. We've played 3 actual teams this season. UF, GT, and a 1-5 UNC. He had 2 good drives against UF, and he's been a trainwreck in the last 2 games.

Its great to light it up against FAU or USF, but if this is what he's doing against middle of the pack ACC schools, what's going to happen against FSU and VT?

If he cant get it together in the first half against Wake, I would bench him.

Senior QB my ***. You play the best player. This isnt a self esteem support group here, its a **** football team, and the object is to WIN.

If he keeps playing like this, VT and FSU are going to break it off in our @sses.

Let me also be clear. I think Morris has a lot of heart, and a lot of talent. The guy can make some phenomenal throws. But there is just something wrong upstairs. Maybe its all because of the ankle, or maybe he's just rattled. But he is having SERIOUS issues, and the "easy" games are behind us. If he cant pull it together, AG owes it to the TEAM, to play the QB that gives us the best chance of winning.

At this point we sink or swim with Morris. We've got too many things to clean up before heading to Tally, and hopefully Morris gets it cleaned up against Wake. If we aren't in contention for the acccg after the vT game, meaning we lose to both fsu and vT, I can perhaps see Golden giving Williams a shot.

We just ran a two minute offense running the ball... The staff doesn't trust Morris. We saw it in the UF game. I didn't see anything today that makes me think Morris is helping us win. Bottom line....I don't see how Williams could be worse.

Never thought I'd say I think this has to be considered. Morris has all the arm strength in the world but his decision making is terrible and he throws high on receivers. His play where he had no pressure up the middle and inexplicably decided to scramble to the right and throw it up and get picked, was one of the worst plays I've seen in a while.

With the offensive talent we have we need someone who can manage the offense and not make mental mistakes and turnovers, got to think about putting Williams back there.

Uh, why?

I think a ball control QB in this offense can be very successful...**** it'll be nice to see a ******* throw in the middle of the field again.

The knee jerk reaction is to go with Williams no doubt. But at this point of the season, we're better off sticking with Morris. Had Williams had a little more meaningful game action under his belt, I'd consider. But 6 games in, we ride or Morris. I'm riding

What really has me worried about Morris is this lack of composure issue that's been ridiculously evident lately.

He was up and down last year too...but I don't ever remember seeing him visibly "shook" the way he has the last couple of games. In the last game against GTech he literally panicked on one blitz and just completely threw it up for grabs on a 3rd and long when GT was sitting in a deep umbrella coverage.

Tonight...go back and watch that last drive again. There was a play where he was so nervous under center that he almost simulated the snap and pulled away too early, rocking out of his stance. We got lucky as **** he didn't get called for a false start.

I can deal with agressive picks where the defender makes a good play, but it's thrown into favorable or at least single coverage. I can't live with throwing the ball into double and triple coverage or chucking the ball up into a crowd late in a play where throwing the ball away will suffice.

That's Jacory type **** right there......no me gusta.

I agree with others in here, if there ever were a game to "rest" Morris and lt Williams take over the reigns, Wake would be the game to do it. He clearly isnt near 100%, so it doesn't come off as a benching. And maybe Williams is the man for the job at this point in time. I think we should throw him out there and find out
