Ruiz stadium update

A streetcar down Miller Drive is a great idea. It's a 2-lane road from campus to Ludlam but opens way up after that. If they can widen Miller between San Amaro and Ludlam it's on.
I'm not sure how much of the tree tunnel is still intact, but that would pose a problem.

Particularly in Coral Gables for sure. Hurricanes Wilma and Irma knocked some trees down on Miller but they were replaced with young oaks. But I think oaks are able to be relocated with relative ease. But Coral Gables would probably love to have a streetcar again I am guessing.

Dont get the vitrol towards people who either prefer the current stadium or have logical questions about potential roadblocks for the new proposed site.
Logic isn't allowed around here, you should know that by now. These dudes are riding Ruiz's jock so hard, it's almost cult like. Until we are all walking into this proposed stadium, it's safe to say that it won't happen. Why? Because there are a ton of obstacles in the way, any which one can ultimately sink this project. Few facilities have this many issues, and end up built. I'd love to see Ruiz prove me wrong, but I've also seen a ton of other projects in this city not happen.

I’m sorry, but this is complete bull chit, revisionist history.

No one is “riding Ruiz’s jock” & for u to even mention that sounds like a str8 hater.

This whole innocent “not understanding why there’s vitriol towards us who have concerns” is phony af. U don’t have concerns; u simply don’t want the chit to happen. Dade County can say tomorrow we approve, & ya’ll will bytch. Not once have I heard “my only concern is…”, ya’ll mofos throughout this entire thread have been whining:

1. But, why?
2. We don’t need our own stadium!
3. HRS is just fine
4. 2017 ND game bro
5. Easy access bro
6. Traffic problems for me, bro
7. Formula 1 held here, bro
8. SB have been held here, bro.
9. Fck these students; only 5k attend anyway, bro.

It has not been anything about “concerns” about a building project, & EVERYTHING to do w/ some of ya’ll r praying it don’t happen b/c of ur inconvenience. U’ve used land, traffic, parking, money, world class stadium, etc. etc. etc. to fight against this potential project.

They could eliminate all music and shut off the jumbotrons and it still wouldn't feel quite right since the seats are so far away, we play with the Dolphins logo in our endzones, there's Dolphin paraphernalia everywhere you look. Oh and the stadium may as well be in Broward. We need our own place.

Do a thought exercise using mathematics, and come back and tell me why you’re wrong in that underlined statement. Make a little chart if you have to.

Okay I’ll bite bro! The real concern I have is how long it’s gonna take him to convince the county To make a deal for the land because there’s public fatigue about inter-Miami and the Marlins. So this has to be done quickly after he reveals the real plans.

It's a litmus test for who really cares about the program and who doesn't.
Yeah I don't care about the program even though I've had season tickets and have donated for 40 years.

Hard Rock is perfect for us and I've seen what that stadium can do. When packed it's one of if not the loudest stadiums in CFB.

Yes our own stadium would benefit us tremendously but not at the expense of what we have now.

My dream would be for the Marlins to move and we retrofit the Marlins Stadium.

nothing is ever that easy in dade county man lol. even inter got their stadium site approved after YEARS of trying and they still haven't started any sort of construction. I think thats why you see a ton of doubt esp from those that have lived their lives here and have seen how difficult it is to gt anything done with the county esp stadium building after the marlins deal. no one can get funds or even sites with ease. the land is the biggest obstacle and not something we can just brush off. he doenst have the land yet. he has plans and paid an architect (idc how famous that company is it means nothing until he is granted the land). he doesn't have the land nor access to it. he has to go to the county and put it to vote. dont think people will be thrilled to give away the land to a private individual for another stadium build while that land is perfectly fine as a park and has been. people love the canes but not that much lol to just give away another park.

it took inter YEARS before they even got the approval for the site and the county wasn't even spending money on it. there were a ton of opposition of even allowing the mas family to have the land for lease. imagine trying to get a county park that is currently in use and very popular year round so you can build a stadium lol. our kids will have kids before that even happens imo esp considering there isnt a lot of green space left in the county for recreational use.

Isn't that all the more reason to pause the *****in' and moanin' about parking and tailgaiting

I know I made the parking joke but thats all it was. I honestly dont give a **** about either lol. there will be parking and there will be some sort of tailgating. tbh, personally, ive just been rolling up to the stadium 5 min before kick and getting in my seat the last few years. overall, Il be skeptical this all happens until we see the land actually in Ruiz's hand esp one that is a popular family park. there is a lot more bad press for the county for giving away the land there than even when the city gave away melreese.

I didn't mean you specifically but more in generally. This thing is def going to take some time even if it does get approved. Knowing that, I don't get all the incessant nitpicking already

Ruiz isn’t getting the land. County will still own it. Ruiz is simply offering a large donation to improve the park significantly along with a stadium for one of the biggest entity’s this city has without using tax payers money. I understand the concerns or doubts but let’s keep things in perspective. Imagine the bad press the county would get if the county didn’t accept this.

Lol just give a away another park? You can’t differentiate the difference between this proposal and Marlins/Miami FC? Tropical Park is gaining, not losing. But don’t let those facts get in the way.
