Ruiz stadium update

They didn't sit in traffic to do it the last time Miami was great, unless other things happened around it. People forget that throughout the glory years, unless it was a huge opponent, with legit stakes,no one cared.
Remember most of these fans that don't care about size of the stadium or traffic don't go to the games.

Walking from campus? Lol. No one is walking to tropical park. They’ll Uber. The problem w offsite parking is that it’s surrounded by strip malls and businesses That aren’t shutting down on a Saturday.
That was the funniest part of his comment.

or the stadium will be raised and the parking will be on the ground level under the stadium...

Yep. Like the "tunnels" under Disney's Magic Kingdom. The tunnels were built first, then they were covered up with dirt and the Magic Kingdom was built on top.

Sooo. Another county issue may be, on game days (satrdays), the entire rest of the park is shut down due to traffic and parking being taken up by canes. Saturday is the busiest day of the week for that park (bdays, picnics, support a cause events, little league, adult softball, youth soccer, basketball, fitness folks, etc..) yes all those facilities are there, but based on what he’s saying, they are depending on taking all the lots around the park.

The stadium ideas look pretty amazing ... especially compared to most college stadiums that are dumps as far as facilities for fans. Really needs to be at least 60,000 capacity with what UM / Mario are doing to build the program. I would think parking would still need to be expanded. Putting megabucks into a stadium and not including a provision for parking for the planned capacity seems pretty weak.

It is incredible when you look at what has happened to the South Florida population since the Canes became relevant back in the 80's and 90s. The Metro Area was 3.9 million population in 1990 and is now 6.2 million. Over 50% growth in population. Miami Made went from 1.9 million to 2.7 million in that period ... and a good % of those 800,000 added residents are in the western area. The Ruiz diagram appears to totally revise the Tropical Park layout. Certainly going to be a political hot potato given how popular that park is with residents. It gets a lot of use. Too bad that Ruiz didn't come along a couple of decades ago when the race track in Hialeah was a potential spot.

Let's say we move to the SEC.

Here is the capacity of each stadium.

UFag: 88,548
UGA: 92,746
LSU: 102,321
Alabama: 101,821
Tennessee: 102,455
Texas A&M: 102,733
S. Carolina: 80,250
Auburn: 87,451
Kentucky 61,000
Arkansas: 72,000
Ole Miss: 64,000

Vanderbilt: 40,000

UM 48,000(new stadium) So we would be going from one of the Primere Stadiums in the country to a UCF size stadium.

That's a parking garage under the stadium. Do you think people will tailgate in a garage?
Have you heard of "the Grove" at Ole Miss? Considered one of the most scenic tailgates in all of college football?

No parking. Just a park with a bunch of tents lined up. Tropical park could be a beautiful tailgate location

I don't really think we have to worry about parking when we'll still have 30,000 showing up to most games. Yes, with a new coach. Yes, with a new stadium. But once the novelty wears off, it will be same old, even if we're winning. The admin won't care because season tickets are sold out and Golden Canes are happy But our rivals will point out that we got a brand new stadium still not on campus and still can't fill it.
