Real reasons to UGA recent turmoil

since last night one of their reputed (or disputed) "insiders" is claiming he was told Fields will get "equal" snaps with Fromm tomorrow vs Florida.

I'm not sure of the race angle, but let's not be so dismissive of some of that talk as Athens and Georgia, while NOT Mississippi, is STILL deep south. Im not sure of the racial component and how much it factors into how Fields is feeling, but its really apparent Fields was promised a shot to start and play heavy minutes and does not feel he has been given a fair shot. Who knows the reality of the situation but as an outside observer, lets take a look.

From Smart's viewpoint: Fromm took them (part of the way at least) to the Natty and has only lost once this season. The offense has been steady under his lead and they are still in position to reach all of their goals. Why make a change?

From Field's viewpoint: Fromm is only averaging 200yds/game and in his 3 losses as starter, he has been under 50% and thrown from less than 180/game. I'm the #1 player in the class and was promised playing time which I'm not getting. The passing game ain't it, don't let our rushing stats fool you into thinking we are this outstanding offensive team.

FYI, For those of you spouting off DJ Shockley (2005 and Quincy Carter (2000) as reasons that UGA CAN'T have racial predilection....WOW. That's almost as bad as saying someone CAN'T be racist because they have a black neighbor they speak to across the lawn....

Was he really promised playing time? If I was being recruited I wouldn't want to hear that, rather would like the promise to openly compete for the job. Who is to stop the same staff from promising my PT away when I'm the upperclassmen to some H.S. phenom.

What's going on is Kirby's loyalty to Fromm. Kirby was Fromm's main recruiter at Bama and the reason he went to UGA. I've heard from people close to Fields that the only reason he isn't starting is because Fromm is Kirby's guy. At first I thought it was just family bias, but after the LSU game I'm not so sure. Fields was a big reason why UGA was getting commits and now that Fields isn't getting a shot and is unhappy, the commits are leaving. It's possible that things can turn around, but I'm hearing that UGA will lose another big commit, either Nolan Smith or Trezman Marshall, relatively soon and that Fields won't be at UGA next year.

These recruits knew too and why would they bolt when the opportunity to play with him is still there. Has to be something more going on than Fields is unhappy with playing time.

Kirby promises the world to get these kids to sign. when you lie kids are going to hold it against you. I will tell you living in Atlanta that stigma in Atlanta with UGA and black QBs is def something that is believed throughout the state. Perception can become the reality. FWIW, one of my neighbors played at UGA back in the 80's and said that fields made a mistake signing there. He would have chose FSU because the boosters were not going to want to play him and when he did play if he made 1 bad pass they would want to pull him. He even thinks if they get a commit like Harrison Bailey from Marietta GA Fields may transfer.

There are a few people who always have "insider" info that are claiming in so many words that Fields may be negative recruiting kids he is friendly with- like Haselwood and Emery- because he knows he is leaving. Something for sure happened over that weekend Haselwood visited or right after that affected his decision. He said it. Others are hinting it. It seems like Emery made an emotional decision to commit at that Lockerroom event. Got caught up in the excitement. Some people are saying they were concerned he wouldn't stick anyway.

It's a big mess. And the optics aren't good for them right now. Gee, what a shame! Lol

As far fetched as it sounds, honestly if Fields does in fact transfer, Miami should make an aggressive push for him. I’m JW Hive all day, but I wouldn’t mind a Fields & Jw QB battle for 2020, landing Haselwood would probably make our case even stronger, if we could convince him that they’d be unstoppable as a duo for the next 3-4 years.

I skipped to the end to say this. I don't think it's legit, but people confuse ATL with Georgia all of the time. Make no mistake about it, the state of Georgia is not much different from Alabama and Mississippi. Don't let ATL fool you. I grew up for the majority of my life in Georgia.

Why not man? GA is just as much racist as Miss or Bama. It’s the south. Just because ATL is in GA doesn’t mean that it’s more progressive. I mean you see the dynamic of Florida. Yea Broward and Dade are diverse but past the tricounty area it’s the Deep South marred with a racist past like every state in this country.

And Carter and Shockley was a long time ago. We don’t know what Richt had to combat when he was there. Neither Cam no Watson went there.

Actually, I'm doing the opposite. This rumor suggests that UGA has people making Smart not play Fields because THEY are racist. It makes more sense to me that Emery just doesn't want to go to UGA anymore, he wants to go to LSU, especially after they just got smacked by them. In addition, Jadon is actually not just going to ride the coat at UGA and line up just to block, so he's smart enough to decommit and go to a school that will actually benefit from him being great. So in other words, Kirby Smart just lost 2 top recruits, and I'm not buying "boosters are racist" as a scapegoat for people to pretend like good programs don't lose top recruits.

I believe Kirby did tell Fields that he would get extensive playing time. There were always talks of a special package designed by Chaney (lol), just for him. I also think that's why Kirby is having a drop off this year in recruiting. He can't sell early playing time any more.

That being said, there are of course dip**** racists that still go to school there that come from all over the state. Who wants to play for that? A smart "negative" recruiting tactic would be to put together a highlight reel of Kirby's temper tantrums and show that 10 minute video to players choosing between your school and theirs. Maybe that's what LSU has done with Emery?
