I would be curious to hear any other upgrades anywhere that was this significant.Might be the biggest upgrade in sports history

Good stuff.
Sounds like the new structure is almost as important as who they hired. This allows athletics to be on equal footing and tied in with the rest of the University as opposed to a satellite operation under university umbrella. No more redheaded stepchild
It is being addressed currently (and certainly is my priority too). The others need attention as well though. And it is a bit of a tongue in cheek comment. Just tired of seeing ALL programs suffer from years of mistreatment at the hands of Blake. I would gather that you’re in agreement too in the big picture.Jeezus f**king christ, don't you think football maybe needs a little work first?
We can walk and chew gum at the same time...poster is correct....get on basketball and baseball as well!!Jeezus f**king christ, don't you think football maybe needs a little work first?
I went from despising Frenk’s leadership to now looking like a fool, and I am very happy about that.
This is fair. I’m very happy with step 1 being a come to Jesus moment for athletics though. To your point, academics need addressed as well.Let's take a bit more time on this. Great first step, and if he does the same with the rest of UM, I'll sing his praises.
Step by step. We're on Step 1.

Jenn: Yes sir

Well said brother. This is a HUGE dealof how this role is being reinvented and should not be overlooked because of WHO we hired. I expect other universities to follow suit. Athletics is not some sort of side hustle anymore where you can just put in an AD to manage that "subsidiary" of the business as its own entity. Athletics is completely woven into the fabric and identity of a school. Everything from what the brand identity, public perception, applications/admissions, brand deals, international exposure/opportunities, academic implications, etc.Couple of things.
First, from an overall structural standpoint, you have elevated the role of AD to a more senior level. This is a actually one of the first great "legacy" things that I've seen from Frenk, as it will be harder to "go backwards" in the future (i.e., hire a guy as inexperienced as Eichorst or Beta Blake).
Second, there will be "more meetings" to attend for Rad, but also more OPPORTUNITIES for him to interact with other people at UM. I would expect that you would see a few more meetings on CONTRACTUAL opportunities that could be dreamed up to get adidas (or Nike) more heavily utilized at UM (go back and look at what Jurich was setting up at Louisville before the scandal). I would also expect Radakovich to have a chance to integrate UM Athletics more into the the calendar and lifestyle of the UM student body. I would also think that you could tap Radakovich to share his skill set on overall UM "master plan" building ideas.
But, yeah, at first, it might be a lot of "extra meetings", from a time standpoint, so I think it will be GREAT to have a larger staff at Hecht to help Radakovich do his job.
After this post, I'll try to find, cut, and paste a post I made in another thread, having to do with the duties of an Athletic Director. Then, you can kind of connect-the-dots on how he can be integrated into the overall business of the larger UM functionality.
I mean out of nowhere ya know? From the top rope.wow. who saw this coming??? lol
I was thinking the exact same thing! You notice that the write up included, “Radakovich will report directly to Frenk and serve as a member of his senior leadership team.” Seems like the learned from their experience with Blake. Echevarria and Radakovich both serving on the senior leadership team will be huge
Edit: i hadn’t read thru the entire thread when typing my response so i’m catching up on all your posts hahaha. Great stuff!
Issue is Title IX.... we need to find a sport that can accommodate the same number of women. .... maybe women's lacrosse....
Problem with having football and baseball is that it adds large numbers on the men's side which needs to be offset with women athletes...
Grew up watching the Wonder Years. Would smash Winnie Cooper

He got out of the same car as her when he arrived at the press conference.I think ol' Jen might be sticking around. Mario had some nice things to say, and we might, just MIGHT, be surprised by what she could do Beta Blake's energy vampire as her boss...
