Radakovich official

Winnie Cooper could absolutely get it. Still can.

I'm not afraid to admit it either that I'd probably still cry watching the last episode when they say Wayne took over the furniture factory because Jack Arnold died a few years later. Dan Lauria. Man's man.

Looks like both Tad and TOC have a thing for Winnie Cooper...

Let's take a bit more time on this. Great first step, and if he does the same with the rest of UM, I'll sing his praises.

Step by step. We're on Step 1.
Gotta step before we can run after years of tripping and landing flat on our face

I'm not AS hard as many on L but he absolutely should be coaching for his job this year. After this many years the FBI probe as an excuse just isn't acceptable. We need to finish this year and look back and be like L did a good job with the roster AND we need to have realistic optimism about the immediate future of the program.

Top 20 recruiting class signed this year.

Team is on the right track with 3 straight W’s including ACC/Big 10 challenge and ACC opener.

Barring some implosion, L will be coming back next year… as he should.

Issue is Title IX.... we need to find a sport that can accommodate the same number of women. .... maybe women's lacrosse....

Problem with having football and baseball is that it adds large numbers on the men's side which needs to be offset with women athletes...

Women's fastpitch softball would be one they could look at adding. Radakovich actually added the sport while he was at Clemson. It actually does pretty well, revenue-wise, compared to other women's sports.

Believe we are the only school in the ACC that doesn't have a team at this point.

I'm not opposed to that. I don't think he's forgotten how to coach but are you willing to judge him on this year if there is an implosion? I've just reached the point where I want to a combo of a strong recruiting class on the horizon AND ending the current year thinking that L did a good job with the roster he had and maximized the result.

Firing him just to run out and hire Eric Konkol or something isn't an appealing option for me. Will be interesting to see if the new money flow streams into hoops too.

I was a big Jurich fan but I think this actually works out better. Rad is a beast in his own right but comes with none of the baggage and hasn't been sitting on the sideline for 4 years. I also dont know if they would have woven Jurich into the VP role like this.

On top of that, Rad probably has better pull within the conference (he was being considered for ACC commissioner) and is in better standing with the NCAA. Hate to have any extra targets on our back with those guys and he was able to safely manage an $EC style operation outside of that conference. He has to have some friends there, thats not easy to do.

His new title: vice president and director of athletics.

President Julio Frenk announced that Radakovich will report directly to Frenk and serve as a member of his senior leadership team
.

“I am so grateful to President Frenk and the University’s Board of Trustees for this incredible opportunity,” said Radakovich. “Their commitment to Miami Athletics’ comprehensive pursuit of excellence and championships is what brought me back to Miami. As a unified Hurricane family—students, alumni, donors, and fans—there is nothing that we cannot accomplish. We are going to set the bar high and jump over it.”
I noticed that VP part too. That is a big, big deal from a an HR org chart and organizational perspective. You do not loosely add that title to someone's roles, especially at a 501c3. It's not like a Goldman or JP Morgan where there are 1,000 VPs running around.
