Radakovich official

The coup against the old guard is complete. I think Frenk and the Ruizes pulled off the improbable.

Hope they fumigate the Hecht of Shalala leftovers and their disciples..
... including the incessant id1ots who came on CIS to attack the brotherhood of mopes and defend BJ and Manny..

This. A few missteps/PR blunders along the way but we're finally here. I think the last 2 weeks goes a lot smoother with a competent AD. Hope that the AD is given enough room to maneuver but it's a good day at the hecht.

Yea and we haven't opened all the gifts!

Coach L, you're next.
Coach L is one of the best Basketball coaches in the country. L had us rolling right up until the FBI dropped the hammer on him and the program. Granted. He's getting up there in age and the game may have started to pass him by but the hate this man receives on this board isn't warranted.

Can you explain to us layman's what the added VP title actual means?

I assume a seat at the big boy table and more inclusion into high level university matters (which is great) but besides that and title, what type of added responsibilities does he actually have?

Bump in pay... High level support for Frenk and Ruizes within the administration.
I think Frenk was caught unawares by BJ and Epstein's back door shenanigans... He just stomped them out and put his guys in charge.

His new title: vice president and director of athletics.

President Julio Frenk announced that Radakovich will report directly to Frenk and serve as a member of his senior leadership team
.

“I am so grateful to President Frenk and the University’s Board of Trustees for this incredible opportunity,” said Radakovich. “Their commitment to Miami Athletics’ comprehensive pursuit of excellence and championships is what brought me back to Miami. As a unified Hurricane family—students, alumni, donors, and fans—there is nothing that we cannot accomplish. We are going to set the bar high and jump over it.”
Frenk said yall won't be talking about him on ESPN again. Boy got his nose in everything. Let's go!

Couple of things.

First, from an overall structural standpoint, you have elevated the role of AD to a more senior level. This is a actually one of the first great "legacy" things that I've seen from Frenk, as it will be harder to "go backwards" in the future (i.e., hire a guy as inexperienced as Eichorst or Beta Blake).

Second, there will be "more meetings" to attend for Rad, but also more OPPORTUNITIES for him to interact with other people at UM. I would expect that you would see a few more meetings on CONTRACTUAL opportunities that could be dreamed up to get adidas (or Nike) more heavily utilized at UM (go back and look at what Jurich was setting up at Louisville before the scandal). I would also expect Radakovich to have a chance to integrate UM Athletics more into the the calendar and lifestyle of the UM student body. I would also think that you could tap Radakovich to share his skill set on overall UM "master plan" building ideas.

But, yeah, at first, it might be a lot of "extra meetings", from a time standpoint, so I think it will be GREAT to have a larger staff at Hecht to help Radakovich do his job.

After this post, I'll try to find, cut, and paste a post I made in another thread, having to do with the duties of an Athletic Director. Then, you can kind of connect-the-dots on how he can be integrated into the overall business of the larger UM functionality.

Women's lacrosse might be the cheapest add-on sport and I've heard there's even some talent in South Florida to recruit on top of places in the northeast where we already draw regular students from.

I'm not even a soccer guy but the fact that we don't have a men's team is even more crazy than us not having a golf team.
A school like Miami has no business not having a men's soccer team. The gateway to the americas with access to South America and local Latin talent and no futbol...and we're sponsored by Adidas?!?! How is that allowed to happen?

BS... he got lazy and old.
Underfilled roster for the last 3 years, then blames injuries. Plays the most unispiring hero ball BBall.
He is not the same dude from his early years.
Now he barely makes any in game adjustments.. just stands there watching.
Time to move on..
Don't let the last couple of game scores fool you.

You would break it [AD job] down into the management of internal and external functions.

Internal includes leading and managing the internal departments and their functions, which includes the team activities (all the coaches and the teams they coach), Athletics administration (all of the resources, equipment, uniforms, facilities management needed for the teams to practice and play), Sports Information (all of the communications to the external world, such as the website, press releases, interviews with press, etc.), Academic support (meetings with players, tutoring, monitoring of academic progress, helping student-athletes to schedule classes and graduate), "Development" (fund-raising efforts that support both operating activities and capital expenditure activities, and interaction with the Hurricane Club), Ticket Sales (both for home games and organizing the sale and distribution for away games), Strength and Conditioning (hiring personnel and maintaining the various workout areas and medical staff to deal with injuries).

External includes the oversight of contractual and other arrangements dealing with the scheduling of games and competitions, handling the interactions with the ACC conference, overseeing TV and radio broadcast relationships, particularly for games that are not picked up under the ACC contractual arrangements (secondary and tertiary arrangements that may involve lesser media outlets such as Sunshine, Sports Channel Florida, local radio, etc.), dealing with any shoe contracts, apparel contracts, merchandising and sales arrangements, handling our external facilities arrangements (particularly with Hard Rock Stadium).

Oh, and in case it wasn't obvious, working with UM on the budget, and occasionally giving interviews to the local and national press.

If I left anything out, I apologize and people are welcome to add on, but I think that is a pretty good starting point.
