QBS in the Portal as of 11/28

honestly looked exactly like emory against Iowa State - but kaaya was a summer enrollee and had only been there 3 months

emory been here 2 years in an offense that has proven to work
And the line was bad. Kaaya got hit about 17 times that game. And that’s not an exaggerated numbe

I think Ewers is the best/safest option. Beck will be coming off surgery and Drones missed most of last year injured. However, at this point beggars can't be choosers.
Yea injury wise i get that, i just dont see it with ewers. And he’s been hurt alot too.

But thats another side of the qb search, do we roll with emory and a true freshman as our backup?

I agree, but that’s what happens when you don’t recruit the most important position in the sport. My expectations are still high, I fully expect to win ACC next year (cries internally).
All it takes is a couple people to rationalize mediocrity. Universally ACCCG should be the mentality. Especially after bragging about recruiting rankings for 3 years. We are hustling backwards.

Hilarious.
In fairness, from the outside, Drones seems like a pipe dream that is only an option because a few posters on CIS want to speak it into existence. He publicly recommitted to VT and not one national reporter (or even a Canes/VT insider) has implied he 1) may want to leave, or 2) if he does, he would come to Miami.

I am not saying this does not legs as I know nothing, and you certainly have implied it does. To the average fan not wasting time at work on the boards, though, hearing Drones as a potential option would be confusing to say it lightly...

Your first sentence is wrong. This is not based on people speaking something into existence. It's based on conversations.

I don't care about average fans. Average fans are uninformed and clueless. It's why they are average.

If you want to rely upon "public recommitments" as proof of something, that is up to you. Nobody is forcing you to read things that provide insight into what may be happening behind the scenes. You are entitled to believe what you want, I don't care what you do.

For people who want to discuss the process and learn about what options Miami is pursuing (regardless of whether every plan comes to fruition), then stay and enjoy the ride. It's not for the faint of heart.

I just wished they would jump on Drones now if he would like to come to Miami. If Beck is their 1st choice, he needs to be given a deadline to commit or else we move on to Drones.

Lol, okay TOC, although I feel cheated I only got four paragraphs from you in response.

I prefaced my first sentence by saying "from the outside"...what is wrong about that? Aside from him not being in the portal or ever indicating he wanted to leave VT, are any of these "conversations" public? Do you care to share "conversations" ongoing between our athletic department and Drones' agency? Do you care to share "conversations" ongoing between Drones and his family? Drones and his agency? Oh wait, I am sure you "can't" because spilling news on something would harm the program :cautious:

You are welcome to point to where ANY reputable source saying Drones to Miami has legs. Not everything is based on secret conversations. In fact, our QB search was quite public last year. As was our interest in some other QBs this past month. I fully understand back channeling is happening. And I fully understand why Drones seems like a viable option based on being a grad transfer, etc. I don't need you to explain rules or the current state of college football to me. But you mocked another poster as "hilarious" when he essentially said Drones appeared unlikely, which "from the outside" does appear unlikely. You do you though.

And spare me with the "stay and enjoy the ride." You've disparaged countless posters on this board so I am not sure how genuine that is. You said "to read things that provide insight...", well what should I read and what can you direct the other poster to that I originally defended that is more than just you just talking about Drones on CIS? Happy to read anything.

**** off. Good enough?

I don't give a **** what we did last year. We also had a guy visit in December last year. That is not relevant to what is going on right now. We are far beyond those benchmarks now.

Just stick your head back up your *** and we'll all tell you when this is over.

I don't care about you white-knighting for your boy tr1ck, but try not to invent **** he didn't say. All of that "unlikely" and "from the outside" bull**** you just added is stuff you made up from whole cloth.

It's asinine for anyone to think that every recruitment will follow every beat of what happened with Cam Ward. "What should you read" and "what can I direct you to" that will satisfy you? Nothing. And I'm not going to try. If you can't take a hint, then I don't care to help you any farther. If you want to believe that nothing is happening, that is up to you. Enjoy your ignorance.

Watched a few videos of Field Yates and Mel Kiper talking about QBs.

Both Kiper and Yates think Ewers needs another year. Milroe did too. Also agreed that Beck needs to stay in college for another year too. McShay definitely thinks Beck needs another year.

Yates said Ewers s a fringe 2nd round pick. Yates and Kiper both have Ewers outside their top 5 QBs.
Yates said that if Ewers is being offered millions in NIL, (paraphrasing from here) he should consider taking the money and boosting his draft stock.

Yates also said that from what he's gathered, Milroe would probably be the 3rd QB taken. But he went on to say that there's no guarantee that 3 QBs even go in the first round.
Kiper flat out says Milroe needed another year in college.

Todd McShay said “Carson Beck made a bad decision to leave early. I texted a bunch of guys in the league, GMs, former GMs, scouts. One Scout wrote back to me, one word answer — ‘foolish.”
Kiper has Beck as his #5 QB.

So who knows? Maybe Beck and Ewers both enter the poral.
