Even Lawrence didn’t start game 1. I dont think he actually started until like game 4 when he was splitting snaps with Kelly Bryant

Just remember when thinking about Emory and Nickel battling for QB1 this is schedule:

2 preseason Top 10 ish teams, 5 top 25 teams. Then look at opposing QBs.

Yeah there was the big controversy when Dabo made the switch

People similar to Uncle Luke had A LOT to say

And I’m a big a Nickel fan as anyone but if we have to start him this year the season is a lost cause for the playoffs but also couldn’t disagree more with the people saying we should start Emory against ND so we don’t “ruin” Nickel. That’s crap.

Hopefully though we don’t have to choose between those options

I don’t think we will fwiw

He is seeking a waiver for an additional year of eligibility that seems to be based on the fact that he appeared in a fifth game for OSU to relieve Stroud in a blowout. The waiver was denied and he is appealing. Syracuse is expecting an answer this week. I doubt McCord will get the waiver because this is basically the same circumstances that Taulia Tagovailoa sought a waiver for and he was denied.

He is way better. I'm not expecting Nickel to be our savior by any means next fall but it's not out of realm of possibility he's a competent qb as a freshman, but here on CIS there's no difference between him & Emory and the sky is falling. The truth is usually somewhere in the middle.

I think we will bring in someone. It won’t be Nickel or Emory against ND and that’s probably a very good thing

Yes. We also lost 2 QBs (Ward, Poff) and are bringing in 1 (Nickel). Strictly from a numerical standpoint, you would not want to go through the spring with just Williams, Anderson, and Nickel.

I have tremendous faith in Nickel's future, but I don't think anyone will ask him to start against ND and UF.
