I had written off Emory having a future as our starting QB after what he showed last year, so I won't claim this is anything but hindsight. However, if all the optimism based on his practice performance had even a smidgen of basis to it, it makes no sense not to have played him and run the offense for a couple of series in 3 of those games. This post, times a trillion.
I was very suspect on how much burn Poff got in the early part of 2024, but I assumed it was an abundance of caution on the injury.
Now, I'm more concerned that it was wishful thinking...that one day our little flower would bloom...and the day never came...
I find the optimism regarding his potential as a starting QB really hard to understand and believe, but there appears to have been genuine shock by folks who saw him at practice after his performance in the bowl game.
Why did we wait until most of the QBs in the portal had already decided to give him meaningful action when we obviously could have done so months ago? Makes no sense if there was any consideration from Mario/Dawson that he could potentially be our starting QB next year.
Oh well.
