Am curious whether there any rules against starting Spring Practice really, really late - after the start of the Spring Portal period?

Nope. You seem to forget that nearly all of the QBs who enter in the spring portal are second stringers.

Ya he can enter at anytime and maybe it doesn’t even matter if he doesn’t transfer until after the spring due to his throwing schedule. Just think this week would be key to have enough time to visit, negotiate, and enroll.

But it would be good to get him in the building ASAP. He can at least gel with the players and learn the playbook early.

Pretty obvious this is their plan. Same exact thing Ward did last year and there hasn’t been a single peep about any interest in a QB actually in the portal since Mateer. Haven’t had a single QB on campus.

He needs to enter the portal, visit, and start negotiating. That’s the hold up. Basically, it happens this week or it’s over.

OK, but look at last year's Portal QB class and you can see that almost everyone enrolled by January 2024:

Out of the Top 60 Portal QBs from last year, here are the guys who entered/signed in the spring Portal window:

That is 5% of the total pool. And certainly not the most talented 5% of the pool.

he can enter anytime before the spring portal closes, but i think it's fair to say that if we did get him, it would *probably be before miami starts classes in spring semester. QB's tend make the move to a new offense before spring ball

This is where I would devote my energy if I were the staff. It sounds like he should be throwing by spring.

Let him work back slowly, fast-track Nickel in spring, and take the field in 2025 with a Top 2 QB in the ACC.

what's the deadline for Beck to officially enter the draft? I remember with Cam it being like 2nd week of Januaryy
