This is where I would devote my energy if I were the staff. It sounds like he should be throwing by spring.

Let him work back slowly, fast-track Nickel in spring, and take the field in 2025 with a Top 2 QB in the ACC.
No surplus this year?

Why is no one taking Sluka? He's been in the portal since October and most likely could be gotten for "cheap, " allowing a team to go after a bigger fish in the Spring.
Well he did quit on UNLV mid season so that is likely part of it especially since he isn't really very good.

Pretty obvious this is their plan. Same exact thing Ward did last year and there hasn’t been a single peep about any interest in a QB actually in the portal since Mateer. Haven’t had a single QB on campus.

He needs to enter the portal, visit, and start negotiating. That’s the hold up. Basically, it happens this week or it’s over.

Exactly what I said…one more week or they’re definitely rolling with Nickel

As a graduate he should be able to enter whenever so the real deadline is the 1/22 last day to make class changes date at Miami (I think that is the date I saw on here). I guess he could just skip attending in the spring and enroll for the fall as well. He likely will not be able to throw in spring practice anyways but he could still attend the practices while devoting all his time to rehab rather than attending class in the spring.

I always love how confident you are with every option. Respect it

Not on everything.

But with "declarations of coming back", I am just dumbfounded that anyone is acting as if these are unshakeable bonds.

Who gives a **** if a kid says he's coming back? **** changes.

****, what if Sarkisian takes an NFL job? Does anyone think that Arch Manning has to return to Texas "just because he said he would"?

Why can't we just be realistic, instead of shifting the subject to whether I'm speaking confidently or not?

We are talking about a kid (Drones) who has graduated, who can jump into the Portal at any point, whose coach just went 6-7 and might be fired, and people are like "Yep, he said he was going back to VaTech next year, so it's over, Johnny".

It's ridiculous.

He didn't get his NIL payment even after playing 3 games.
Well he claims he was promised $100K on a phone call but doesn't seem like he got it in writing which if true would point to him not being very brignt. That being said he completed 44% of his passes in those 3 games so again he isn't very good and likely teams do not see as worth the trouble.

I get being concerned but not the panic.

Thinking outloud..

Pros:
Cam Ward's success
#1 Passing offense
Competitive budget
Good recruiting staff
Location 📍
Chance to win (playoffs)
Private Education/Unique experience
History/Alumni (still matters to some)
Chance to raise draft stock due to media exposure

Cons:
ACC (could also be a pro)
Lame gameday experience
Mario (maybe?)

**We will stumble into someone decent IMO. Pretty one sided**

Ya he can enter at anytime and maybe it doesn’t even matter if he doesn’t transfer until after the spring due to his throwing schedule. Just think this week would be key to have enough time to visit, negotiate, and enroll.

But it would be good to get him in the building ASAP. He can at least gel with the players and learn the playbook early.

Anyone hoping a mystery QB pops up is gonna be let down.

Because he can’t throw the ball and it’s 2025.
Neither can Emory and he can't run. If we're looking for a bridge for Nickel it wouldn't be crazy. He's thrown for 6,200 yards and 65 TDs with only 16 ints he's also run for 3,800 yards and 39 TDs. That's 10,000 yards of offense and 104 Tds. We have the offensive line and run game to use him similar to Riley Leonard at ND.

Has there been contact made between our staff and his camp?
