There's three options here:

(1) Grab a CFP QB that isn't in the portal yet (unlikely);

(2) Go for a guy like Mendoza with a high floor but unknown ceiling (imho he'd be better than Emory); or

(3) Get a backup for depth, ride with Emory and make him battle it out with Nickel and the backup.

Personally, I'd go with option 2.

I see no way this could possibly go wrong. Not like you’re going to be putting out this product in front of 8 home games including ND and UF the first 4 weeks of the season.

This program has been so good for so long, a ceiling of 7-5 wouldn’t be that big of a set back.

Call me crazy, but Beck would be a huge upgrade over Emory, Judd Apatow, and Bo Nickal.

I'd gladly take Beck if he'd bring his teammates, coaching staff & re$ources over with him. Go Dawgs!

Mendoza is the best option at this point. No question about it.

Nearly 70% completion rate with a very bad OL
Low turnover rate, even with tons of pressure
Smart with the ball
Tough
Experienced
Passionate leader..his teammates play hard for him
Good enough arm and legs
Hometown kid is a bonus/plus
Maybe could get a few defensive players to transfer with him

He's not going to be a Heisman contender here but there's no reason he can't throw 25-30TDs with 6-8 INTs and run for another 3-5 TDs.

Mario just needs to get him to commit and wrap this up asap so we can at least pursue other WRs with a known QB.

Superfly Sluka is good, as long as he doesn’t find out that you’re not really gonna pay him the $700k you promised when he signed. Once he finds out, his production tends to drop off big time. Just something to be aware of.

I do think if in a week or two (or whenever UGA dies in playoff) if Beck isn't going pro and we still have no portal QB we have to take him if he's available. Beggars can't be choosers. Beck vs. Emory/true frosh Nickel I'm taking Beck 110% of the time, warts and all.

2. - Go get Manolo Mendoza

(If he doesn't wanna come to Miami for whatever reason)
