Hey fellas I know I’m late to the party re: Ewers but we are talking about the Texas QB, right? I thought it was last year of eligibility and on to NFL after this year. Of course I know Arch ain’t waiting another season but what am I missing

Castellanos is a poor passer. He is good at one phase of the QB game, running/scrambling, but not the most important part, actually accurately and smartly throwing the ball
There have been a lot of poor passers in college football that have won a ton of games and won national championships. Yes the talent level has increased quite a bit. Nobody is expecting FSU to win a national championship, but a quarterback like that can win some games and sometimes even a lot of games. But that’s if he was actually going to a squad that had a decent amount of talent, and FSU at this point doesn’t have it.

ESPN has him listed as a junior

The fact that we haven’t been reportedly linked with any of these guys makes me optimistic we are going to target guys like Ewers or Mateer.

Do people think a year after spending a ton on Cam Ward and watching him be a Heisman finalist, we’re going to pursue these mid G5 guys? Come on now…

Ewers sucks
Had one of the lowest air yards per attempt in the country.

2023 the lowest guys in that metric basically had 2 totally different career trajectories - Mertz and Nix

Ewers could probably end up in either of those buckets himself but I don't think he's an NFL draft QB right now. He'd get picked but there's more money for him next year in the college game with the chance to improve his draft stock as well and really cash in.

Feels like forever ago when his name surfaced on CIS. Idk if we ever offered or not.

That had to be like 2018 class lol
Just looked him up. 2019 lol

Honestly (not for us) this guy has the kind of pedigree where I could see him succeeding somewhere for his last year. All district receiver as a high school sophomore. Big time junior season in high school in Texas as QB, got hurt his senior year and his freshman year at Texas Tech. Then had a big year this year.

My worry is he does not seem to be a very aware QB in the pocket. He doesn’t seem to feel or sense pressure worth a ****. It’s not like he has a bad OL currently. Maybe if he plays more vertically he will be better but I’m very skeptical.
