Proof of Randomness in College Baseball

Is it that difficult to comprehend that you need someone to explain the context? Ten teams have most of the wins in Omaha. Just not Miami (which you ignore every time).

Again, 1/3 of the teams win 2/3 of the games.

It's not a meaningful statistic.

Two teams always win 0 games.
Two teams always win 1 game.

So four teams will win 85% to 90% of the games in a given year.

All it takes is two flukes (look at Arizona) to be firmly entrenched in those 10 teams.

But, again, you can't even tell us the significance of the 10.

You added the 1/3. If 10 teams get there so often that they make up 1/3 instead of 1/8 (10/80) in a decade, then you further strengthened my point. No matter how you interpret it, 10 teams have won 2/3 of the games in Omaha in a decade. Miami has two single wins in that same decade.

You're incapable of giving it context that's why you don't do it.

You just keep repeating yourself.

Arizona is in that 10.

They've missed the postseason in 3 consecutive years during this period (2008-17).

It's meaningless to consistency.

Again, you prove my point. You look up stats like a good, loyal historian. There is no context to those stats.

So Florida was higher ranked, higher rated and hit better, pitched better and fielded better.

But there's no context to it.

Sure, pal.

Florida was worse this year than they were last year.

Last year they went 0-2. This year they went 5-1 and won the national championship.

But you claim that it was predictable because you saw something on the field?

You're not a serious person.

They want titles. Neither of those coaches is happy. They're not sitting in the office saying "we made it to Omaha, that's all that matters".

Ah, yes.

Jim Morris doesn't want titles and is happy to not win them.

Of course!

What????????? There you go making stuff up again, liar.

I know he's not happy. You're the one saying that we should be happy.

Seriously? It has to do with the fact that they aren't happy with their performance even though you're celebrating "appearances" for Jim Morris.

Yes. Seriously.

What does McDonnell sitting in his office (talking to himself) have to do with his team's failure to win postseason games over the last 3 years?

You just make up the most bizarre things.

You just juxtaposed Miami with Louisville's and Fullerton's coaches by saying that they want to win titles.

You do this bizarre thing all the time.

Then you claim that you never meant it.

Who said anything about "consistency"? Quit making stuff up. We've been consistently above average. Doesn't make us any happier that we were "consistent".

Addressing the reasons why we get pummeled in Omaha would be a good start, but it would require the acknowledgement that our failures are within our control (and can't be fixed with a slew of bad JUCO hitters).

Oh, I don't "claim" it was predictable.

It has to do with the fact that he's not complacent with "getting there". Surely you knew this.

What happens when STA doesn't win a state title? Do they high five over their great season, or do they realize that it's time to upgrade the roster with a couple of transfers from local schools in.....California?

They all do, Morris included. You're the one, not Morris, defending Morris. Morris just hasn't been very good at it over his final decade.

UOTE]Oh, I don't "claim" it was predictable.

Ten teams have won 65% of the games in Omaha.

Why is Florida just as likely to win zero games than one?

If the best teams always win in Omaha why wouldn't you expect them to win?

You end up making zero sense when all is said and done.

The best teams do win in Omaha. Ten of them, in fact, have won 2/3 of the games over a 10-year stretch.

Just not Miami.
