Frank Gore is 3rd all time in rushing? How does this apply?Would you leave Frank Gore out then???

He played 16 seasons... but was he ever really dominant?? Believe me I'm not knocking Gore at all for what he accomplished but he was never the "Best running back of his time".... He was amazingly consistent ...Frank Gore is 3rd all time in rushing? How does this apply?
If he gets in, he should have his orthopedic surgeon introduce him. As many have said, how good would he have been without the knee injuries. That's impressive... Can't knock consistency...
It’s criminal that in this weak year that Willie Anderson is still left out. One of the three best right tackles in history who unfortunately spent his career playing for some truly awful cincy teamsExtremely weak class. Gates is the only one deserving of the nomination. Eric Allen and Jared Allen were very good and put up some numbers, but not quite HOF in my opinion. With Sterling Sharpe getting in, Sean Taylor should be a lock based on their criteria.
If he was 13th all time in rushing he would have a hard case. I should have specified longevity alone. Jason Witten played 17 seasons he isn't a hall of famer. He played 16 seasons... but was he ever really dominant?? As I said in another post he should absolutely get in , I just wanted to hear what you thought based on the phrasing of your statement.... There's been plenty of players who got in due to longevity and the stats gained in doing so....
It’ll be hard for Reggie to make it in 2026 too. Next years class is kinda stacked
I wouldn't say Rivers is a lock, especially if Eli didn't make it round oneFirst 5 are almost locks.

Eli is a lifetime .500 qb. 81 and 81 or something like thatSurprised Jarred and Eric got in over Eli.... I mean 2 Superbowl MVP's along with the longevity gotta stand for something doesn't it? By no means am I saying he's "The greatest QB ever" but he's done plenty to get in over the two ....
He was 117-117.. correct on .500 QB.. but... 57000 yards, 366 tds 4 pro bowls... And 2 Superbowl MVP's.... Alot of players would love that kind of resume... He should get in at some point...Eli is a lifetime .500 qb. 81 and 81 or something like that
Disagree. It's a combination of both for the bottom half. Legit 1st balloters (Payton, Brown, Sanders, Smith, LT etc) and then the rest. For every Terrell Davis there's a Franco Harris/Marcus Allen/Frank Gore. The hall of fame should be only those who dominated the sport. Longevity is not an accolade.
Being clutch and winning titles is kinda a big thing... Lol..... I'm biased... Lifelong Yankee fan... Jeter was awesome...Disagree. It's a combination of both for the bottom half. Playoffs/Championships factor in as well. Derek Jeter is only beloved bc of being clutch and winning titles. (sub-par defender and above average hitter)
Don't get me wrong, you can't be average. But if you're pro-bowl caliber or close for a career spanning longer than the family pet, yeah, it should count.
You shouldn't have to be the best of all time, nor the best of your era to get into the hall of fame. He played on trash teams. He averaged 4.28. Walter Payton averaged 4.35. They both had 16000 yards. It really shouldn't be so hard to diagnose. He played 16 seasons... but was he ever really dominant?? Believe me I'm not knocking Gore at all for what he accomplished but he was never the "Best running back of his time".... He was amazingly consistent ...

I’m fine with these type of selections. Stats don’t get him in but you can read between the lines & figure they would’ve been there. Ok, Huge assumption but cool.
Why discredit a Reggie Wayne though? He actually put in the work, built the stats, stood near the top for twice the time.. I think the Hall should be filled with those who shined brightest & fizzled early AND those who stayed near the top for longer than our pets remained alive.
My favorite thing. Just saying each case has a sliding scale with lots of different factors weighing in.Being clutch and winning titles is kinda a big thing... Lol..... I'm biased... Lifelong Yankee fan... Jeter was awesome...

I'm with you on Witten...but you know he is getting in for that reason. If he was 13th all time in rushing he would have a hard case. I should have specified longevity alone. Jason Witten played 17 seasons he isn't a hall of famer.
