Official President Joe (the other one)

I was there 4 years and never had a single conversation or interaction with a faculty member that was political in any way. The constant barrage of people belittling education professionals and higher learning does 1,000x more to "indoctrinate" me than the college I attended.

That being said, I hope he gets Miami back on track academically. Frenk really screwed Miami over.

I went for 5 years of undergrad (changed majors), a year of MBA, and 3 years of law school.

Only time I had political discussions was with my Politics professors.

Great for the Business School. Great for the UM alums. Great for the Athletic Department.

We're about to find out how much (or little) Joe wants Dan running things.

RUDY FOR AD!
I hope you’re joking as much as I like Rudy and also think the athletic Director position, generally, for all schools needs to evolve with the way athletics in college have evolved

Miami should never have a head coach that wasn’t a head coach at a P4 conference with success and that goes the same for athletics even in this changing environment imo. There are people who are good at both with experience in both.

Whatever man, one of my degrees was in political science at Miami and I never had a conversation about politics outside of politics classes, so I don’t really have your experience whatsoever

People like to confirm their narrative, no matter what or where it is.

And by the way, can we keep politics off the main board? (Yeah I’m responding to it but shouldn’t have to)

Pretty sure there is a rule about that and honestly this is supposed to be a haven from the nonstop bombardment we’re getting.

I personally love this hire. If there’s a guy who won’t be sitting twiddling his thumbs given conference realignment it’ll be Joe. Also sub standard athletics will never be accepted. I just hope he works just as hard at the school ranking stuff that Julio seemed to not give a **** about

i have a bachelors from the U, a master’s from michigan, and now work in research at another university. my degrees span across engineering and the social sciences. i have met exactly two professors who could be semi-accurately described as marxists. there are a lot of stupid people with an ax to grind against higher ed.

I had an English professor who got his rocks off on assigning libby writing topics, then pontificating to the class with examples galore of "doing it correctly" from students who wrote along his lines of thinking. I called him out on it and he dismissed me. F him. I wish I had the backbone then that I have now. I would've been in Dean Wormer's office with him, but not talking about double secret probation for my fraternity.
Yes, I realize that's only one example and yes, without going through my professor roster, I believe he was the only one. The rest were pretty respectable in this arena.

It’s all about fund raising especially at small private schools. Great athletic programs bring even more money in so this sounds like a very good move on the part of the U. LETS GO CANES! :neonu::neonu::neonu::neonu::neonu::neonu::neonu::neonu::neonu::neonu::neonu::neonu::neonu::neonu::neonu::neonu:

Maybe. Paul Dee had no AD experience.

The point is, what we are facing with realignment, CFP expansion, and contractual relationships may require someone with strong connections and strong alignment with the UM President. We need to speak with one clear voice. My comment about Rudy was about 50-50 serious vs. humorous, but it could be the right move at the right time.

We shall see...

One more political comment and we shut down this thread.

Let me ask some of you, and specifically @rsa coral gables. Is self restraint really that challenging? You could have made your point about the new President without ever using a label like Marxist. It was completely unnecessary and solely included because you wanted to create a reaction among others. We are less than 3 weeks away from a presidential election so emotions are running high. We have an entire board dedicated to politics and whatever else floats your boat.

Just chill out on this board with terms like Marxist and woke, and stop mentioning the names of current, past, or future political leaders because they have absolutely NOTHING to do with football.
