Pop tart bowl vs Iowa State

It’s probably the worst stadium in a city the size of Orlando given a good bowl game.

It’s also an eye sore to drive by. JAX too.

This is true. I can tell you stories about repairs and renovations that the Citrus Bowl did NOT make in prior years.

They are about to drop ANOTHER ton of money into that stadium in the next few years. The reality is that they need to purchase and condemn six city blocks to build a parking garage, which could service football (Citrus Bowl), soccer (Orlando City), and basketball/concerts (Kia Center). Just run shuttles up and down Church Street.

Orlando is the second-worst city in Florida for planning and building sports facilities/parking, behind Miami. Though St. Pete puts Miami and Orlando to shame.

So if you know my posting history I'm cheap.

But I do think I'd like to go this as I havent made a game this year. If I'm going I'd like to get decent seats...but $200-$250 for the pop tart bowl is making me rethink...any chance they come down a bit if I'm patient. Like $125-$150...or do is the stadium pretty small and sitting up a level isnt bad.

stop complaining were all in the same sinking ship.. buy a ticket show up and be a supportive alumni instead of a whiny little *****
I Dont Care Deal With It GIF

Ah, yes, nice display of your ******* tendencies. Just because you are mad over a separate thread.

**** off already. I've been a supportive alum in Gainesville and Tampa and Berkeley and Louisville, not to mention Miami Gardens.

This is still a ****** bowl game. I notice you didn't try to start a fight with any of the other dozens of Miami fans who said the same thing.

The guy you're talking to is one of the most supportive alumni I've ever seen.

He's earned the right to *****.

Appreciate it, sir.

And I'm not just speaking for myself. I have the ability to order a dozen tickets. My family is from Orlando and I will be in Orlando on that date. Money and travel and time are not the issue.

Literally EVERY SINGLE OTHER PERSON with whom I've attended Miami games this year...has not expressed any interest in this game.

So I have to choose a quantity of tickets, between one and twelve. Hmmm...I guess the problem is that I'm not a "more supportive alum"...

Congrats on traveling and being supportive.. Too bad your bailing on this one. Original Cane we will always go back and forth no matter what because you always have something to complain about. You rarely post positives only negatives. I have been supportive of you when you post positives, you always seem to help out on gamedays for parking and events and that's great

buttt

you have clearly "earned the right to ***** all you want" on this forum so have fun sitting at home on canes insight *****ing to yourself while the rest of Cane nation shows up has fun and supports our guys in orange and green, specifically the few seniors (Restrepo playing or not.. George) that did not transfer out after dealing with the TVD debacle, they put blood sweat and tears into this program you are so proud of but yet your essentially saying ****EMM.. the game don't matter. Sad really

I refuse to block anyone on this site but man you are a Negative Nancy MR KNOW IT ALL no matter what and it gets old real ******* quick.

You are hilarious.

The Mope Squad calls me a slurper. You have invented some nonsense in your head where I am "negative".

Who said I am bailing? I will be there. It's still a terrible game, I'm not sure why you can't grasp that. I have reached out to over a dozen friends who are UNINTERESTED in going to this game. Why blame me for reporting reality?

Here is the sad things in these ridiculously polarized times. For a moderate person such as myself, who posts BOTH positive and negative news and analysis, somehow certain people see only the parts that they choose not to like or agree with.

Speaking for myself, I don't give a ****. I speak truth.

I went to school with Mario and Luis, I love Mario and Luis. But Mario still needs to do certain things better. And until he improves on certain aspects of his job performance, I will continue to acknowledge that he needs to improve on certain aspects of his job performance.

This isn't complicated. I have been UM-all-the-way since the day in the early 1980s when I decided to attend the University of Miami. But just like a person can take some bad classes at UM or have some bad Miami professors, or eat some bad food in the cafeteria, so too can there be valid, moderate, constructive, and loving criticism of the only football program I have given a **** about for 40 years.

So, grow up a bit. I have been very clear in my statements. It's not UM's fault that the ACC contractual obligations have our best "non-CFP-bowl-matchup" set against...a bad Big 12 program. Good lord, that should be our first clue that nothing good will come from missing the CFP. The Big ******* 12. How the mighty have fallen.

When we first got the e-mail for (possible) ACC-CG tickets, I can't tell you how many texts I had from friends over travel plans and "getting tickets together in a bloc" and every other positive repercussion. And the exact OPPOSITE of that has transpired for the (checks notes) Pop Tarts Bowl e-mail. CRICKETS. Literally nobody wants to go, and I've been an active member of the Orlando Alumni Association.

Don't blame the truthful and accurate messenger.

I'm glad you'll be attending hopefully we can crack a beer or two but for right now blah blah blah all i hear is excuses for why your always negative on this forum. You consistently bring the moral down. For now on ill comment on your negative posts and make sure you are aware of how whiny you are. i think most can agree you seem to always have a sour outlook on anything and everything. Even when we were somehow undefeated you were *****ing up a storm in here...

I don't care how many friends you have that aren't interested in this game, you act like MR HURRRICANE HIMSELF so show up or shut up.

Been a Hurricane since 89 if you cant handle the heat from a ****** bowl game get out of the kitchen bubs cuz we eatin with our without you

You can **** straight off with that Quien Es Mas Macho bullcrap.

And I will also ask you (politely) to stop misrepresenting my posts on this board, and the last 40 years of my support for my alma mater.

I don't give a **** if you're going to be a self-appointed hall monitor. It's truly pathetic on your part. I don't need any "reminders" from you, I am keenly aware EVERY SINGLE TIME I have something negative to say about Miami athletics, because my preferred method of response would be to be "more positive".

But that's not reality.

And I sure as **** don't need some bizarre reverse-psychology from you to "convince" me to attend another ****** bowl game in Orlando. You're "eating with or without me"? Why should I care? I'm not trying to convince YOU of anything, certainly not trying to convince you NOT to go to the game. Do what you want. Good for you.

Mario has serious issues to address. Hiring better coordinators. Making sure we can pay whatever it takes to land a top portal class. Finding a new QB. SOMEDAY becoming better at time and situational management at the ends of halves. Figuring out how to make "second-half adjustments" in the first quarter. TRUSTING the guys he hires and figuring out how to delegate more (and to better people than Dennis Smith).

And maybe in 18 days, I'll show up to one of the worst urban football stadiums in America to cheer for a crappy bowl game that I have ALWAYS felt was irrelevant. I can't change the fact that I have ALWAYS felt that bowl games and the electoral college were stupid, regardless of "who's involved".

Sorry that living in Orlando for most of my life doesn't make me love the "Pop Tarts Bowl".

Sorry that being a Miami alum for most of my life doesn't make me overlook the mistakes made by the UM athletics program, the coaches, and/or the players.

And sorry for my honesty.

I'll roll the dice here, but after seeing how it went for the last guy I ain't that optimistic.

-Bowls are a complete crapshoot nowadays. Always have been IMO, but it's gotten worse in the opt-out era. Seems like conflicting opinions on whether or not Ward plays, but I'm not sure it has a dramatic effect on my thoughts on the outcome.

-Campbell is an incredible program builder who has taken this program to heights not previously imaginable for Iowa State, and has sustained a much higher level of success than previously thought possible. He's absolute dog **** in one-off non conference settings. Our bowl games have mostly been a disaster and it took him the better part of a decade to beat Iowa. That alone gives me a ton of concern about this game.

-Our defense is really good at limiting high flying pass first offenses. Ask Baker Mayfield and Patrick Mahomes about going up against ISU defenses. However, we've been ****** against the run. Cam Skattebo is still laughing at our god-awful tackling. Our defensive health is an unknown too and will likely be material in the outcome. You guys establish the run and Ward will cook us. If we can get you into some 3rd and longs, I think our DC will frustrate the **** out of him.

-Our offense goes as our OL goes. When we get some push and can establish a run game, our passing game can be lethal. If you beat our OL, you'll bury our RBs, get them behind the chains early in possessions, force fumbles, and get our QB in a place where he starts to push, which likely means you're getting a TD out of the deal.

-These are two of the better teams not in the playoffs when playing at their best. Both squads got a lot of close wins after playing with fire. Some of the posters running down our program and the state of Iowa in general come off like ignorant **** sippers. This bowl game sucks? Sure, I guess, but that has more to do with being in the one major Florida city that isn't on the beach. The best teams are in the playoff nowadays and you didn't make it either. What bowl game doesn't suck, relatively speaking?

Right now I think Miami wins, and covers. We've been bad in these kind of spots, and you have more talent. I think we have better coaching and good enough talent but it's basically a home game for you guys and I don't think our fans will turn out that well for it (3rd trip to this game in last 6 years and Orlando just doesn't have a great central party district the way many bowl cities do). If Ward plays you have the best player on the field. If he doesn't, we still suck in bowls.

38-24 Canes. Hope I'm wrong. The game has potential to be a **** of a good one if we play our best football.
