Player Led Practice

Mario has stressed the need for more talent, and it’s true. Manny was poor recruiter, so we shouldn’t think any staff is going to turn around that roster in one transition recruiting cycle and a handful of transfers. Going to take a few cycles.

As far as gameplans go, I agree with others that Gattis needs to up the tempo. Too **** slow yesterday.

That was 20 years ago lol. And it’s not an excuse. It’s a trend. Got faith Mario can get it fixed if it’s a trend now too
Yeah we aren't gonna curb stomp our opposition right out the gate every week. Changing a culture doesn't happen completely in less than a year, and the roster holed will require the 2023 & 24 classes to get on campus till all the pieces are in place. Until then we should all expect some hiccups.

Think how similar this situation is to what Butch dealt with. Ericksons recruiting from 92-94 was Trash....Hence Butch being left with so-so talent...especially OL and QB....One of Butch's closest friends was his DC from 95-98 Bill Miller...but our run defense was deplorable in 97-98 (98 was UMs worst run defense ever) and if I remember correctly we gave up 130+ points in the last 3 games of 98. I remember Butch friggin seething. So in comes Schiano who ran "Butch's" Defense to a Tee (anyone who thinks that was Schianos Defense would be wrong)

Before that....SeanTay wasn't a big weight lifting guy....But talk about running....Man o Man....he'd run till he was beyond exhaustion. @Brooklyndee is really the person to reminisce, since he was part of those player only workouts. Ask him about the Famous Sand Hill....
I **** near just had a heat stroke thinking bout that.

D.....I wasn't trying to downgrade this New mentality whatsoever...I'm actually thrilled. All I was saying when you were playing, that player only workouts were 100% the norm. And most, completely off campus.
Tropical park was our second home. I understood what you were saying yesterday since I had some things really ****ed me off too. It's important to remember this roster needs a complete turn over. Old habits are hard to break and we're finally starting to build some accountability. But all that gets put to the test when you run into adversity. That's what we gotta break. Old habits. So while we've seen ALOT of progress throughout this off season it's important to remember it's a process. I'm proud of what changes have been made this off-season. But when the roster turns over we'll see a realistic vision of what the team will be. We need to build leadership and we need to build accountability. This is a step in the right direction. With us it isn't comparable because we were a finished product. We're looking at a sample size right now.

Agreed. Butch had a near-total rebuild. Plus handicapped by probation.

I think we‘re in good hands with Mario, Zo, and Rad. It’s been two games. Defense had given up a few plays each game, but only 20 points. Offense struggled yesterday, but it’s a new system. And a cultural overhaul, top to bottom.

The team needs leadership at the player-level. And that’s hard to force and coach. Guys have that skill, or don’t.

Butch had a TOTAL rebuild...Trust me.

Mannnnn...I'm talking
Ed Reed
Webster
Al Blades
Sean Taylor Led practices. And F around and not show up if you want. @Brooklyndee was part of those practices, and let's be honest. Practices (even on GreenTree) back then, we're alot more Savage than today's practices. They made today's game look like a walk in the park.
Dawg let it go.. please
