Player Led Practice

I agree with you. It's baffling the coaches still play him as much as they do. But we've seen porter, Curtis, couch, all get beat in their very limited opportunities. Even Tyrique has been beaten a few times. haven't seen enough of Dunson.
Graves, Rogers, and Jaden Harris are all true freshmen but still haven't seen enough of them to judge.
DBs will get beat. We don't have a shutdown corner, I get that. I don't expect him to be a shutdown corner because he just isn't. I accept it.

What I can't get over is his poor tackling, poor execution, and just being in the wrong place at the wrong time. He's made some plays, I'm not oblivious to that. But 9 out of 10 times, if his name is said by the announcers it has been him messing up.

The other DBs might be equally as bad, but they can't be worst and might have higher ceiling so why not play them instead so they start reaching that ceiling sooner?

Agreed...

Once again, that's not on Ivey. That's on the coaches.

NGL..I’m convinced these slow starts gotta be a gameday atmosphere thing..it has to be playing a role. Especially in these home games
I don't think it's that. I'm an Auburn grad. Auburn historically has good fan support but if you ask any Auburn fan about noon kicks, they will tell you that it's **** near a given that AU will get off to a slow start. I don't think it's the atmosphere as much as the prep.

Is this what happens when you pay the players? They actually want to win so they can increase their value allowing them to make more money?

I love Mario....but in all fairness what Butch did is astounding considering the circumstances, and Mario saw it up close from 98-2000. I just didn't like what I saw today. You can pull that on Southern Miss....but you're not getting away with that BS later on.

There's no urgency, or ownership of the urgency at the player-level. This is why I like a mix of freshmen playing if they're talented enough, because their energy can be contagious. We were flat until after Thad's TD and, you're right, that's not going to fly later on.

You're right. He's not a kid.
So then he should go to the practice to get better?

Not a big deal. I know you're just being funny.

But he's a good young man who's just trying to live his dream.

He practices hard and obviously makes an impression on the coaches during camp every year.. just seems like when the lights come on something happens?

Like I said, the coaches are the ones to blame. It's not like he's lazy or has a bad attitude or anything.. By all accounts he's a model student, player, and member of his community. No reason to bash the young man because when the cameras are on he can't accomplish what the coaches are asking him to.

All of our DBs play the ball in the air as if they’re wearing timberlands and a book bag

I'm going to buy a #8 custom jersey and patiently wait for delivery. Once arrived I plan on donning said jersey then swigging half a bottle of grain alcohol then performing a dozen dizzy bat spins in a field in order to mentally align with how Ivey functions on game days. Will report back with further insights.
You'll fall on your side and become number Infinity.

Disappointed with Blades lack of production. He was in a position to easily intercept a throw but he didn't even make the attempt. The TV cameras showed him after that on the sideline being schooled about it by a coach (couldn't tell who it was) while the commentator was critical of his lack of effort to jump and get the ball.

Why is this Huge??....it was ALWAYS like this in the 90s early 2000s...Player led practices were common.
It’s huge for this generation of kids. Remember when wigs and pope would go to social media right after games we lost to post their “highlights”?!? It was a “me first” attitude and not a “team first” attitude.

I think getting back to that would be something we all welcome. I know we can’t expect it to be like the late 90s and early 00s immediately… but hopefully over time the new Super Mario regime can bring us closer.

I haven’t read through the rest of this thread, but was this “player led” meeting confirmed?

It’s also showing that Mario is slowly changing the culture around the program. May not be overnight but it’s encouraging to see.
