They should rebuild the stadium downtown. Next to Marlins Park and put it back where it belongs.
I'd be better with letting the Marlins leave town and just take over the stadium and convert it to Football...
Obviously there's nothing indicating the Marlins would leave but based on the fact that aside from 2 bought World Series the Marlins just aren't good... I've been to tons of games and have sat there staring at the emptiness wondering how they still operate down here...

I think they would leave for the right money. They're a collective of carpetbaggers who leveraged Jeter's clout to buy the team. It's a business transaction for them.

It wouldn't shock me to see them go but the other owners would have to approve it and I still believe MLB really wants to keep a team down here... But who knows... Like you said if the money is right then anything can happen..

and who pays the $2.5B left in bonds for the stadium if the Marlins move?

by the way, the Marlins are prohibited from moving until the bonds are paid in full

I think it auctioned for 23M years back, and the []__[] should have been all over that. The []__[] needs to think outside the box. University housing doesn't need to be on campus if the metro is that close. A lot could have been done with that real estate had Miami been thinking big. I love the intimacy of the Gables Campus, but we should have a stronger presence in Miami.
Really brah, isht, I'm still driving my '87 IROC Z28 looking for the the spot. Isn't Debbie Deb, Stevie B , Cover Girls, Expose, TKA, Shannon, playing tonight.
Dude, it's not THERE.
Wow!

I understand... there's a ton of baggage attached to it....It's why I stated from the onset that there's no indication that they would leave.... Just entertaining ideas as to if... but yea it's a mess...

In 1999 South Carolina averaged 78,000 fans per game.
In 2001 Miami averaged 47,000 fans per game.

In 1999 USC went 0-11
In 2001 Miami went 12-0

Enough with the attendance talk

C’mon my brotha; if u’re going to tell a story, tell the whole story:

Attendance from ‘00 - ‘04:
58,280 avg.

I don’t care about Ross & Dolphin stadium, I care about the U & our revenue.

Did u just say Miami doesn’t pay rent to Ross? Lol. Literally on the very last page of the financial report, it says we’re on a short term lease until Dec. 31, 2032. The reason it’s considered ‘short term’ is b/c of our limited use. It says our “remaining balance is $12.5m” as of May 31, 2021. So by calculation, that’s about $1.13m we pay to Ross, annually. Lmao.

And u’re saying we’re splitting game revenue w/ him??! WTF?!

So let’s get this str8:
-We play in a football stadium designed for the owner’s team
-We pay $1m+ annually to play in said stadium
-We split our revenue w/ this owner of said stadium
-Tailgating options have been limited at said stadium
-A race track is there, bringing in revenue for the owner of said stadium
-Naming rights revenue from Hard Rock went to said owner ($250m, btw)
-All events held at the stadium goes into the pockets of the owner of said stadium

Yet, somehow, I’m trying to see the benefit, again, for the University of Miami; not Stephen Ross & The Miami Dolphins. The only benefit I see from this whole got **** thread is fans who r complaining about traffic, & how convenient it is for them.

There’s a specific reason y our AD said it’s best we have our own.
Do you know what kind of revenue HRS pulls in for Ross? I thought stadiums are huge money losers? 1.5 million a year seems pretty cheap compared to like a billion or whatever startup cost. Canes may not make as much money as they could but they're also not shelling out near as much as they'd have to to own their own stadium. I guess if Ruiz is gonna foot the entire bill that would change things a lot.

No, stadiums aren’t huge money losers. LolThat was a parroted counter argument made to justify us staying at HRS. Is it true some Universities lose money off operating their own stadium? Yes, & those Universities typically have a poor ADs.

I provided the financial terms of USC on this board that showed how lucrative it’s been for them to be the operating partner of The L.A Coliseum. UCLA, on the other hand, had complete turmoil after the pandemic, & UA reneging on their deal. But fortunately, w/ a new sponsor, partnerships, & donors, along w/ the Rose Bowl beginning to hold other events, including a new naming rights deal, UCLA should be out of the red in a few yrs based upon projections.

In regards to Ross & HRS, I’ll post this:

In regards to opportunities of owning ur own venue as a University, I’ll post this:

Direct quote from Manny Navarro Athletic article a day or so ago .... " There are a couple of reasons for Miami to stay at Hard Rock Stadium. For one, Miami’s leadership values its relationship with the Dolphins, who do not charge the Hurricanes rent for using the stadium. They simply split revenue, according to The Herald.

Secondly, UM is well aware its fan base is spread out over South Florida, and playing games 20 miles away from campus on the Miami-Dade and Broward County border doesn’t bother the administration because it makes it easier for fans from up north to get to games."

Stadiums aren't money losers but they aren't a huge panacea of cash flow either. You routinely bring up the Coliseum for USC but LA county basically defaulted on their obligations for improvements (b/c they couldn't justify the improvement expenses) and handed over the stadium operations to USC .... who have to spend $75-100M just to put a Band-Aid on the POS and over time will spend hundreds of millions. Guess what ... they are also trying to redevelop the surrounding area (aka just like Ross) so that they can make it a worthwhile investment.

You keep trying to turn "owning our own stadium" into a money maker for UM when there are countless examples of schools that own their own stadiums and make little money and b/c of necessary investments constantly needed the stadium actually becomes an albatross around the athletic department (see U Tenn).

So do u want me to believe Manny Navarro who’s notorious for misquoting & getting things incorrect, or The University of Miami’s actual audit report; which one?

Secondly, I’m not trying to turn anything. I don’t change narratives or push goal post. I’m not that dude. I CLEARLY SAID some Universities lose money on owning & operating their own stadium, or did u fail to read/comprehend that b/c u love the cushy teal seats & ur commute?

Finally, The University of Miami is no longer ran by people who can’t tell their thumbs from their ********. We have real leadership, & the new leader out of his mouth said this:
“Hard Rock Stadium is just fabulous. I mean, it’s a wonderful place to play, but it’s a little far from campus,” Radakovich said. “You have something that’s close to campus, that benefits the entire campus community, it’s almost immeasurable. So if that’s something that can happen, we’re going to pursue it to its logical conclusion. I know it’s been tried before. But, certainly, there’s things that we can look at to try to create an opportunity if one exists for that to happen.”

So please spare me ur agenda; oh & since u wanna try to check me on Miami’s lease, u can read it for urself. It’s the closing statement found on page 40.

The Hard Rock Forever Bros sound just like all the dopes who said Miami would never pony up for Mario, or a superstar staff, or a top notch AD. They parrot the same tired ad hominem attacks on anyone who even wants to explore new and potentially better options. It's a new era and motivated people with real money can change the world. No idea if something will actually get done, but these HRS bros are insufferable. Small minded people will always be renters not owners (just like the situation Miami is currently in).

Sorry man, I missed where you had provided the USC stuff. I like HRS, I think it's a great stadium, but I also get why the Canes would want their own stadium. If it happens of course I'll be for it. It would be a huge step up no doubt. However, in reading the things you posted above I'm left wondering how much money must Ross be making from HRS that he's now adding an f1 track and tennis courts to drive more revenue. Know what I'm saying? If a football stadium in Miami could make money it would seem like the race track and tennis wouldn't be needed considering the loss to the fan experience at the driving reason for the stadium. It may seem like I'm arguing against a new stadium but I promise you I'm not. I'm just trying to get this part of situation. I feel like I need to put more weight into what's happening at HRS vs what USC can/is doing in LA simply because HRS is a case study right under our noses. If the Canes spend a billion on a new stadium that's just a holy crap amount of money to me.

FTX by far. I think FTX opened first (its actually over 20 years old now since it opened in 2000). they just continue making minor upgrades to keep it looking sleek and modern. on top of that, it hosts a ton of events year round
Agreed but both have held up pretty well. The Triple A absolutely holds a ton of events but The National Car Rental Center was (at least as of a fee years ago) one of the most profitable arenas in the country just due to the amount of concerts there.

I think all we're really missing in the civilized part of South Florida is an outdoor venue to replace the Coral Sky outdoor dump in Bumblefuk West Palm.

yeah bayside has one but its not really used much.

Ross is making more money from this F1 event than his anticipated profits from the entire upcoming Dolphins season.

I'm not a Dolphins fan so I don't really care about him as an actual team owner but he's a genius in how he's developed HRS- even if it had me walking 6 miles to the stadium from the Green Lot last season.
