Pat Fitzgerald/Northwestern implosion

Little mention of the letter supplied by a large group of NU players denying the allegations and supporting Fitz. Not juicy enough to create clicks/news.

The ALLEGED activities from ONE player is headline news. I certainly don’t condone the ALLEGED activities by ONE player but in today’s 24/7 incessant news cycle, this type of story generates clicks/viewers and circumvents the order of law - innocent until proven guilty.
Right all the PLaYeRs during down time all unanimously signed a letter in 24 hours.

you want to buy some swampland?

This post did not age well.

Particularly after ELEVEN players corroborated the hazing. Not just ONE.

What happened to the fifty players who "denied the allegations"? Are we still desperate to believe them, at least enough to "blame the press" because they want "clicks"?

For the record, there has been no criminal trial (yet), so the concept of "innocent until proven guilty" is not the primary consideration. Northwestern is well within its rights to fire Fitzgerald, regardless of press reports and regardless of "innocent until proven guilty".

Whatever. I don’t have to be right 100% of the time. Opinions are like ********. Everybody’s got one.

They will probably fire him as the “cancel people” and constant talking heads continue to put the pressure on.

Firing achieved, they will move onto the next thing in the news cycle and Pat will latch on to some rehab program under Saban, Day, Smart or someone else before he gets another coaching job.

If DJ Durkin gets a job, and he was literally responsible for killing one of his players, so will Pat.
Is it too soon to bring him in as an analyst?

Bro, freshmen QBs being forced to put their hands on freshmen centers’ nutsacks and other freshmen having to get dry humped and fake gangraped is seriously messed up. Those aren’t drinking games.
Yes, and drinking games are just as dumb. Some wind up hospitalized and some have died.

Wait a second! Who hired that attorney to do an investigation? The school?

Was there some new information post investigation? If so, was it explored further before the school president backtracked on the deal? Sounds like someone possibly gave into the pressure.

He looks like Pat may have a case. Time will tell but likely he wins some extra $$$ out of this.

Hazing is apart of sports, but northwestern is particularly bad. Coaches knowing and promoting hazing which include sexual assault. While yes frats have and continue to do worse stuff, that isn’t promoted (for the most part) and a lot of frats don’t do the really bad stuff anymore.

"Pat Fitzgerald/Northwestern implosion"

This is the /Northwestern part of my thread title lol. Football focused prez grossly underestimates the threat this situation posed to the institution, thought it could be hand waived away with a friday news dump of a scandal that had been kept hidden for nearly a year and a love tap non-punishment response. Making it not just a football team/coach scandal, but a crisis of university leadership scandal. Mutually assured destruction for all involved is how this goes.
