Under. I predict 6-6. Too many freshmen being relied upon to contribute is never a good thing. This isn't basketball, where 1 or 2 guys can make a difference. Also depth issues at DE and RB, question marks at OL, WR, and QB make this season look dicey. The future looks very bright, but today, we're going to struggle a bit IMO.

Best case scenario: 8-4
Worst case scenario: 5-7 or 4-8.

That Duke highlight by canefreak is the GOAT. I'm not saying he has the best highlights I have ever seen, but the video, the song, the player etc. ******* GOAT.

I'd be shocked if he's not a playmaker as a freshman.

Maybe I'm setting myself up for disappointment, but I don't care.

If there's a hole, he's gonna hit it.

The veracity of this statement will be tested by 2 guys and their units, Kehoe and Franklin. We've been getting our asses kicked at the LOS on both sides of the ball for at least the last 6 or 7 years. For our on field fortunes to change, the play in the trenches has to change.

I think people are severely underrating coaching continuity.

Everyone might not be happy with all of the coaches but for the most part, this is the strongest overall staff we have had in years. Add to the fact that everyone is back and things like that can get you over the hump when you have a lot of toss-up games.

I've tried to back off the expectations but it's impossible. He is the most impressive incoming RB in the nation. I remember seeing that Johnathan Gray kid and he was really impressive but Duke doesn't take a backseat to anyone.

He is going to make an impact, there is just no doubt about it.

Over. Coaching is better. Far more attention to detail in all aspects of the program being paid than in the mediocre years. No player's position is safe and they know it. Unlike in the mediocre years, you don't start or play at the end of games in doubt depending on the class your in.

Overall, the depth may not be quite where Al wants it, but based on the constant changes in the depth chart, the depth appears to be at least somewhat more talented than in the last few years so the inevitable injuries may not be as costly as they have been. This team is better conditioned, has more drive and determination than the 6-6 and 5-7 teams that couldn't win the close ones. This team wins more of the close ones and has a much better chance of pulling off an upset in the games they assumed to be the dogs.

Everything is relative and this team is relatively better than the last 6 or 7. There will be young player mistakes, but this team won't quit and that will be the difference.

I giggle like a schoolgirl every time I watch that video. His breakaway speed is ridiculous.

Positive - stronger, more heart, mentally tougher, better conditioning, improvement in the secondary, coaching continuity

Negative - young team, depth issues, unproven qb, secondary,

Like last year every game will be a nail biter. Everything listed above is a wash except for 2 things. Our depth issues and strength/stamina. We will win a couple more games due to better conditioning and strength. We will lose a game maybe two due to lack of depth. Schedule is winnable so 8 wins.

BC - win 1-0
KS - loss 1-1
BC - win 2-1
GT - win 3-1
NCS - loss 3-2
ND - win 4-2
NC - win 5-2
FSU - loss 5-3
VT - win 6-3
V - loss 6-4
USF - win 7-4
D - win 8-4

If I am a betting man I say push, but leaving Vegas and my cash outside of the equation, I say 8 wins.

The team is stronger, more disciplined, surrounded by less chaos compared to this time last year and is fully bought into Golden's system. I think that focusing on the names that left is the wrong approach here. Benjamin was explosive but cost us games and could not get separation unless is was a "run as fast as you can and I'll chug it" and the same goes for Streeter. Benjamin singlehandedly cost us the FSU game.

Our QB will be better. He is smarter and more accurate than JH. He has a better arm and gives our slot receivers the proper timing to take off with the ball. Jacory always threw it being to our slot receivers. I think Morris will be the 2nd or 3rd best QB in the ACC by the end of the year.

Forston was a disappointment. Spence is a big loss but Perryman will do a great job in replacing him. Mike Williams and Lee Chambers did the best they could but were below average on the talent scale. Antonio Crawford and Tracy Howard can replace those two and do just as well if not better just on talent alone...in the first 3 games.

The OL is better. The WR corps is better - I am not crazy. The RB position is more complete. Duke and Dallas can slash an dash while James and Clements can fight for the tough yards. The DL was a disaster last year with barely any depth...this year it will be better.

Max 8-4
Min 7-5

Under. Hoping everything falls in place for 8, but playing the odds.

Under

We lost **** near all of our top playmakers. This team will be very young and inexperienced with big question marks pretty much everywhere. Perryman is a stud and could be All-ACC this year and Chickillo is a good talent but outside of those two who are the impact guys? Hurns? Mike James? Vaughn Telemaque?

Fact is, we dont have much proven talent. Very good coaching by Golden and the staff if we can get 7 or more wins.

I feel like a Sandusky when a kid in high school gives me chills, but that highlight video does.

Over.

None of those offenses are that scary on that schedule, ie. no blowouts. And, we have a pretty good kicking game.

You hit the nail on the head right here ImU2. Morris can only be so good if we cannot make first downs with the run game. We have to get back to dominating on both sides of the LOS before we get back to being a top team. Push. I hope I am wrong.

Push. I think that might be our limit this year. But that comes with a caveat. I think Duke can easily make this a 9 win team if he is everything people think he is. I dont recall him taking over any scrimmage. Either way, we are gonna have to have a high scoring offense to win more than 7.
