OT - UNC has hired Belichick

I agree. Instead of beating my head against the wall, I’ve convinced myself that Mario being the head coach gives us the best chance to win, support-wise. We will only get bags from his boys. He won’t coach us to a title, but him being here may give us a chance to buy one. I always expect the worst outcome and be pleasantly surprised when something goes our way.

Yea it’s going to be a disaster and I dont understand how anyone can’t see that. The warning signs always been there. The media is going to say all good things cause why would they bring up facts? Everything will be hype even for UNC fans but watch how this goes. They will blame age to save face

A friend of mine trains a kid that is committed there. He’s thrilled now…see how long that lasts 😂

I think it's a bit different than normal for a couple reasons:

1. It's not like these kids are going to be surprised or sold snake oil. Everyone knows how Belichek is and what he is about. They'll know what they're getting into long before stepping on campus.
2. Belichek has his hands all over the roster. He will be bringing in kids he knows will buy in. His staff are all guys he's been with for years. They know the formula and makeup of a player they need to to be successful.
3. Trust is what allows for coaches to exercise their methods while maintaining buy in. Belichek, with what his resume is, will already have that trust. Perhaps the greatest defensive mind to ever do it. Ya that commands respect from the jump. There's a certain level of achievement that even the ****iest have to respect. Brady and Belichek are at that level.
4. Winning solves everything. As long as the wins are coming in and the draft stocks are rising, kids won't care.

Surprisingly enough, I actually think he is going to recruit well. It's going to be a very easy sell, especially on defensive recruits. Can argue that no coach in college history will have had a better understanding of what is needed to make it in the pros so selling getting your kid ready to go pro will be another easy sell. I think NIL, roster maintenance, and dealing with kids attitudes and egos is going to be a whole different animal.

If you can deal with NFL egos and attitudes you can deal with college kids imo

Unless Tom Brady finds some more college eligibility, this is a horrible hire. The dude is a huge loser everywhere he’s been when Brady isn’t his quarterback.

Bruh we talking inner city kids that been paid since 5 years old with huge egos who now know, its their talents that get them where it gets them and they have the power not a coach. They expected to be treated like that as well, he aint going to cook in recruiting imo. Thats where he will struggle imo

This could be a problem if UNC follows through with the budgets he required.

If you're a stud defensive player and can make the same money at an SEC school, Miami, or be coached by Belichick where do you think Miami sits in that pecking order?

You are such a MOPE! We have Mario. He is an elite recruiter who is out there right now stacking classes with elite human beings. Why do you think we're paying him more than double what we have ever paid a coach? We gave him the biggest budget, better facilities, BETTER EVERYTHING. Miami sits number one in the pecking order.

I realize this response is tongue in cheek but I don't get the obsession people have with Marios salary and budget ... you do realize we are still outside the top 10 in coaches salaries, facilities, and NIL right?

It is a mistake to attribute rational decision making to anyone, let alone teenagers being enticed by money and flattery.

Yeah I’m sure a high school WR will be much more difficult to deal with than Randy Moss. Those kids egos are way bigger than his and they’re definitely making more money
