Only Pete Carroll has been successful going from the NFL to college football in recent history.
This isn’t recruiting. This is BETA. Called leading with his wallet.
1 he is in his 70sWhen he fails I guarantee you the goal post will be “he’s too old the game has passed him by” instead of just saying dead *** that he had Tom ******* Brady
These types of hires have never been backed by NIL money. Otherwise, I'd agree with you. Seems like a weird reach, but since he's got the name, and a ton of cash, it might just work. These type of hires never go well
and mario is still over paid.Another coach making more than Mario lol. What are we down to like 18th highest paid now?
Are you a pats fan? Even if you right on number three I’m just asking1 he is in his 70s
2 No experience as a college coach
3 even if he fails he already has achieved more in football than any current college coach, or college player, or current NFL coach or player probably ever will.
He doesn’t have to have familiarity with college game. He’ll have all the assistant coaches he wants to handle recruiting you name it & can sit in his office to meet recruits. That’s what the 400 page job demands is about. This is an LOL, really head-scratching hire. He has no familiarity with the college game and recruiting and you all think he'll waltz in and win? All he's doing is ruining his legacy IMO. I'm not even sure his X and O advantage will be pronounced with college kids. The Patriots used to have lots of really smart players. I really doubt he'll be able to work his magic with kids that are in and out every year.
