When he fails I guarantee you the goal post will be “he’s too old the game has passed him by” instead of just saying dead *** that he had Tom ******* Brady
1 he is in his 70s
2 No experience as a college coach
3 even if he fails he already has achieved more in football than any current college coach, or college player, or current NFL coach or player probably ever will.

Can’t wait for one of his players to go off pouting because some doesn’t go right for him..

This is actually good for UM.

This hire is going to force Mario and the Staph at the Hecht (plus the money guys from Columbus High) to get off their a$$es and hire real NFL talent at DC and OC, and give each hire a Free Hand with their assistants. Mario will have to be CEO and Chief Recruiter, just like Saban was, although Saban was a defensive genius.

Mario's specialty was always Offensive Line play and building same.

No more Group of Five Developmental Coaches. Not if you have to run into Bill Belichick in the playoffs. Especially if your quarterback is Emory, not Ward.

Everything has to be top flight.

These type of hires never go well
These types of hires have never been backed by NIL money. Otherwise, I'd agree with you. Seems like a weird reach, but since he's got the name, and a ton of cash, it might just work.

Are you a pats fan? Even if you right on number three I’m just asking

This is an LOL, really head-scratching hire. He has no familiarity with the college game and recruiting and you all think he'll waltz in and win? All he's doing is ruining his legacy IMO. I'm not even sure his X and O advantage will be pronounced with college kids. The Patriots used to have lots of really smart players. I really doubt he'll be able to work his magic with kids that are in and out every year.
He doesn’t have to have familiarity with college game. He’ll have all the assistant coaches he wants to handle recruiting you name it & can sit in his office to meet recruits. That’s what the 400 page job demands is about.

I’ve seen a bunch of people on social media immediately dismissing this and saying, “It will never work” but I’m not so sure. I think people often downplay how important discipline and culture are in college football. The only question I had about this hire is on the recruiting side of things but if the reports are true that they’re really going to give him $20 mil a year for NIL….problem solved lol.
