OT - UNC has hired Belichick

He doesn’t have to have familiarity with college game. He’ll have all the assistant coaches he wants to handle recruiting you name it & can sit in his office to meet recruits. That’s what the 400 page job demands is about.
yep. He's not going to be schleping all over. Sure, he will when he absolutely has to. He'll revamp the whole infrastructure at UNC. Cannot wait to see who he brings in as coordinators and position coaches.

From the UNC Board:

* Deal is expected to be 3 years, $30 million guaranteed for Belichick and a 5-year contract

* UNC agreed to increase its NIL budget, in addition to going full rev share

* UNC agreed to increase its staff budget

* UNC agreed to a full GM staff

* Nick Saban played a role in the process

* Belichick consulted with Freddie Kitchens in evaluating the job and roster. Kitchens is expected to have a position on the new staff.

* Belichick initiated interest in the job and proceeded to win over the committee with his initial interview.

* Belichick's initial interview opened by stressing the value of education, whether a player goes pro or not, and how that’d be important in his plan.

* That interview included voicing appreciation for UNC, Chapel Hill, and the rivalry (including a jab at Duke).

* Some key individuals associated with the UNC search (in addition to Bubba Cunningham):
- Vaughn Moore
- BOT chair John Preyer
- Chancellor Lee Roberts
- Jim Koman
- Steve Newmark
- UNC CFO Nate Knuffman
- UNC general counsel Charles Marshall
- RC vice chair Jim Sigman
- RC chair Anne Lloyd
- Richard Gordon
- Tight ends coach Freddie Kitchens

Belichick's 83-101 (.451) record without Brady
Right, but Belichick recruited and developed Brady.

Don't tell me he can't develop an artiste quarterback.

Why couldn't this guy be in the B1G or the SEC? Then he'd be their problem.

Oh well, at least Bill's presence in the ACC will tighten some butts at the Hecht. Hopefully.

I dnt see this working at all, at his age and his principles vs. new cfb era. If saban was too old and set in his ways to deal with it, i see this even worse. Saban was at least around hs/college kids the whole time.

Hopefully this forces some action and big splash mentality from Dan “always in a vest despite being in Miami” Radakovich and Joe(y) from the Bronx. Unlikely, though.

Bills people have feelers to get a scope on NFL job interest, there is a reason he is going to cfb. Let that sink in for some of yall. No one wanted him in the league cause he doesn’t come with TB. TB like Mahomes are erasers, for any team roster errors you have those guys erase it. Y’all going to learn after this tenure with UNC, UNC never hires good coaches they have a track record of not knowing wtf they are doing.

I really can't imagine the kids these days want to play for an ******* like Belichick. Perhaps I am wrong, but I don't see it. Kids are too soft and pampered these days.
You may be right but ... same question, though, why would they necessarily wanna come and play for Mario? His teaching and development? His in-game strategy? His inspiring leadership (he seems to me to have zero "personality"), and on and on.

Guarantee he wins an ACC Championship before Mario. I’m not knocking Mario, it’s the curse we, as Canes fans, have been dealt.
I mean Mario literally cannot coach, best team in 20+ years and you can't win the ****** ACC? What the **** are we talking about here?

More so to do with the fact that Bill has been insisting that he be HC and GM if he takes a job. NFL owners, rightly, are saying **** that. His player evals has been god awful for a good while now and left the Pats with the worst collection of offensive talent I've seen in a long time. On top of that, rumor is he kept insisting on teams bringing his kid along for the ride and him trying to position teams to accept his son as a "HC in waiting" for teams he wanted to go to.

Curious how he fares in college. He's notorious for not spending money and putting players in the doghouse for any kind of shenanigans. To be coaching a team of 18-21 year old kids who are transferring left and right for the biggest pay day seems to be a combo that will work as well as oil and water.

College football HC is a **** of a lot more work than NFL HC.

Mack Brown he aint.
