on a scale of 1 - 10..

on one hand I will be very disappointed for all the reasons already listed.

on the other I think we are still a 7-5 type team and every game will be a dogfight (except for maybe Duke)

I would be incredibly excited and surprised if Miami pulls this one off. The things NC State does well are the things Miami struggles against.

Smart man. I'm going full ****** both ways on this one though. NCST scares the **** outta me but that wont hide the disappointment of a crushing conference loss after last weeks emotional win.

THANK YOU.

Miami has yet to show the ability to stop a decent QB, and I don't think the D is top 50 in any defensive category.

Easy to see what's going on here - a gutsy OT win sweeps all the flaws under the rug for a week, fans now expect a win, and if it doesn't it's meltdown, doom and gloom, fire everyone, worst team of all time nonsense again, which JUST HAPPENED a few weeks ago.

If we have ANY type of crowd support (45-50k) in the stands, we have a much better chance of winning. This is the perfect game where a little crowd noise will go a long way towards helping the D. I intend to be in full ****** mode from the very moment we kick off.

6. These teams are very evenly matched but we have the younger and more inconsistent team. Expecting an easy win in this game is like expecting to trample KState last year. We don't match up that well with NC State and they have a lot of time to prepare for this game. Just because the team is improving doesn't mean we have shutdown corners and a ferocious pass rush all of a sudden. A lot of bounces will have to go our way and the offense will have to play lights out to win.

With that being said I expect a narrow victory and would be disappointed otherwise. I'm not gonna be like the most of the fanbase and get caught up in the rollercoaster ride of highs and lows though. If GT converts that 4th down and wins the game this thread wouldn't even exist...

I will be so drunk I'll think it's Oct 20.

I am with you! Straight ****** either way! I can see us losing this and I can see us losing as well. The only way I will be truly ****ed is if we get blown out! This should be a very good very close game! Lets hope we find a way to win!

8. Home game against a comparable opponent. Gotta win those.

My concern is always tempered by having O'Brien on the other sideline. He's historically good at finding ways to lose.

NC State is no joke and Miami still
has no defense.

This. I think a lot of you are setting yourselves up for major disappointment.

Yup. But I'm not going to bull**** about it. I expect a tough tough game but it doesn't change the fact that a dream season goes out the window with a loss, so of course I will be disappointed.

Exactly how I feel. We have not played well at home against mediocre teams the last few seasons. Personally, I'm more worried about this game than I was about GTech.

We're not that much better (if at all) than they are but this feels like a game that we should win.

A loss on Saturday turns our season into swiss cheese like Carl Winslow's cruiser outside Nakatomi Plaza.

Its hard to say. I will be a 10 on the scale of disappointment but I also under stand there is a more than 50% chance we loose.

10. On offense there is not even a question we're light years better, both in terms of pure talent and Fisch. I know some folks are frustrated at some of his calls (I am too sometimes) but some of it is on Morris too making those throws and we're not even talking much about Fisch.

It comes down to the Defense. If Glennon is allowed to stand back there in a pope-mobile, this game could come down to who scores last. If we can get just a little pressure, make the pocket smaller and make him unfortable back there, then I think we can get enough stops to string a good lead.

I posted on the pack board that I can see this game going many ways. I can see an inconsistent low scoring tight game. I can see a boat race. I can see a blow out on either side.

But we have to win. we'd be 3-0 in the ACC, with one of our two major Coastal foes out of the way. Huge, huge, huge game to say the least. Every ACC game going forward now becomes big being 2-0 in conference.

6, disappointed but not shocked.
My hope is the team really grew up last Saturday, I had zero expectation of them coming back in that game. Overcoming a 17pt. deficient was bad enough but in reality they overcame a 36pt. deficit. I was actually expecting a K St. type score once GT got on a roll.

I wouldn't be shocked by a loss. Many teams struggle the next week after playing GT. Its tough to flip the switch of playing an option team to a normal offense. With that said I would still be ****ed simply because NC State while a solid team, they aren't on the level of FSU, KSU, ND or VT.

We are better than them. UM needs to win. We: consistantly have had better recruiting classes then NC ST, finally have some contunuity among the coaching staff from year to year, and are young yes...but in today's college football, good young players play right away and can win games for their teams. Youth isn't an excuse not to win.

It's a big game to sit in the driver's seat in the Coastal. Our D seems to be improving...I'd be very disappointed with a L.

Young team that has proven it can stop a one dimensional GT squad.

I have no faith in its ability to stop a good passing QB and a TE.
