OH LAWD!

Turnovers are largely a random occurrence. We can't depend on them to save us every game.

Bull$hit...every single play our guys are going after the ball and causing fumbles. Did you not see Brandon McGee strip that ball? Come on mah dude.
Sorry, but fumble recovery rate is almost completely random. This has been analyzed and statistically demonstrated.

What are the statistics regarding the number of threads about the defense week by week, the posts that are intelligent and those that beat a dead horse expecting massive improvements overnight?

A quick observation shows we rank next to last in intelligent posts, top 10 in beating a dead horse, and top 5 in unreasonable expectations and entitled/spoiled/**** fans.

4-1 (3-0) with lots of improvements to make - missed throws, dropped balls, missed blocks, penalties and missed assignments to start. Some are buying into the brick by brick, fans and players, others expect a brick this week, and a 6 bedroom house in two weeks.

Any thoughts of coming together as a fan base for the team - starting with some reasonableness?

Is it too much to ask to expect us not to get completely shredded every **** week?

These defensive coaches aren't getting it done right now. We should not have one of the worst defenses in the country.

I understand that, but if it is blown assignments and no pressure from the DL, there is only so much the coaches can do week by week. It appears that adjustments are being tried, but 2001 was not built in a day.

This is a board for the discussion of issues with the team, as well as go happy jerking off celebrations at being 4-1. You are allowed to do both, so is everyone else that visits the board.
If you do not like people analyzing and nitpicking, then perhaps this board is not for you. There are other places to celebrate and play sink the cracker with your friends ala Facebook.

It is one thing to analyze and nitpick and say we won, but, and it is another thing for repeated threads about the same thing saying the defense sucks and the coaches suck too over and over and over again.

DL is the problem. Seriously, if we had a decent, just decent DL our defense would be in the top 50 easily. I rewatch games and we are asking our DB's to hold their coverage for 4,5,even 6 seconds at a time. That kind of requirement is almost impossible. None of our DL (including Chik) impress me one iota. None of them use any kind of techniques to shed blocks. Heck, many times they get driven back and fail to even hold their ground. It is pretty terrible. They are there to take up space, nothing more. At this point I'd say I'd be happier if we would just get maybe some big offensive linemen (320+lb) in there to at least keep from getting driven back. That at least would shore up the run game some. Believe me, the cats we have playing DL are not getting it done in any way, shape , or form.

This is exactly the type of post that makes sense pointing out that we do not have the dogs to get it done on the DL. But there will be numerous threads again next week after Notre Dame, win or lose, saying our defense is weak. Who is joining the DL between now and then for Coach D to magically produce better results? There has been some changes to the game plan, players rotating in and out, in game adjustments, but there are also the same players playing minus some with injuries. Even with players blowing assignments, the coaches do not have many options to replace them. Not to mention the 6 turnovers were not a sign of improvement, but they were actually gifts from NC State.

Thank you Vaughn for the great hit in my chops, as a present, I give you the football.

I think at the end of the day, our main problem with the defense is that we have a bunch of kids (first and second year freshmen and sophomores) playing against men (4 or 5th year juniors and seniors). There is not a scheme in the world that can cure that. There just isn't.

Go back to college and think how much your body changed from the time you showed up to school, to the time you left. It is absurd the physical development that occurs. Much less guys on a legit training program.

We are 4-1 yes. That's great. Best start in years. Im happier than a pig in ****. But our defense is not good and it will get exposed. We just have to learn to deal with it. It is what it is.
