OH LAWD!

Disgusting..114 out of 118? We ain that young fellas..look at our starters..we dont have many freshman starting..

Also interesting, we are ranked ahead of Baylor (3-1) and Lousiana Tech (4 - 0) in total defense. We are also not that far behind of WVU (4-0). All 3 teams have played crap for the most part, but at least we played a top 7 team.

4-1, 3-0

Only stats that matter

4-1, 3-0, and really, Miami has played the easiest part of their schedule.

Combined record 9-10, with BCC being 3-2. NC State, also 3-2, with wins over SoAlabama, The Citadel, and UConn. BC only beating Maine. And GaTech's wins coming over Presbyterian and a 2-3 UVa team. So, basically, Miami's played D1 teams that combined for a 6-8 record with a total of 2 D1 wins (SoAlabama being a provisional team). The wins were fun and awesome to watch, but when you look deeper, the teams we beat are nothing special and it may be more of an indictment that it took us all of the theatrics to beat these mediocre teams than you'd otherwise think.

A win is a win, and as a fan, I'm very much happy and honestly, for a team I thought would be 6-6 or 7-5 at best, they are at least making it entertaining for me, and that is all I really wanted from this team. But, as a football guy, the wins...nothing to write home about or brag about. They were against mediocre or ****** teams.

The lone time Miami played a legitimate team, we got our **** pushed in.

Now, Miami gets to what would be the real part of their schedule...Notre Dame, UNC, Florida State, VaTech (a VaTech team that has already gotten their usual ****** losses out of the way). I think this string of games coming up tells you a little bit more about Miami. Namely, that UNC, FSU, and VaTech stretch.

Stop. You are being intelligent.

Truth is, all the good feelings we have now will be gone by the time we get to Vtech unless we have huge improvement on D and develop a reliable running game on O.

where does our offense rank in time of possession? to be fair...they do put a lot of additional pressure on the D (the D is still bad though)

Defense may get slightly better by end of year but we just don't have the players to improve significantly. This willbe a very very good defense in a year or two. Just be patient.

If you told me we were better than 114th in total defense after watching the product on the field this year I would be shocked. This defense makes an intelligent football fan want to claw their eyes out on a play by play basis. For Miami to put a product like this on the field with the talent base they have to pick from is tough to swallow.

Not to sound harsh, but we're trying to win the Belmont with a bunch of donkeys. I don't think any learned and rational Canes fan expected much different if they evaluated our defensive roster before the season. Luckily, we have some nice ponies in the barn and the future is looking promising.

Taking out ND and FSU (teams no should really expect us to beat), everyone else on our schedule is crap including UNC (lost to Wake Forest and has beaten nobody). VT is bad. So is UVa, USF. Duke is Duke. 9-3 is really not crazy at this point fam.

How about we worry about our feeling when we get to Vtech. no one had us at 4-1. i bet you had us at 1-4 or 2-3 at best. we are 4-1 and lead the ACC.

wow. didn't realize we were *that* bad. I mean all the games this year where teams are scoring 40+ and we're only better than 4 teams in total D? ugh.

It's a good thing we have an offense and special teams!

Turnovers are largely a random occurrence. We can't depend on them to save us every game.

Sorry couldn't disagree more. We aren't scouping up fumbled hand off or snaps or tip passes. We have true takeaways. Guys reaching in a ripping the ball out. You see our players looking to take the ball away becoming apart of our strategy.
Fumbles recovered in particular are a random occurrence. We cannot depend on recovering fumbles to overcome giving up a **** ton of yards each game. Eventually it will catch up to us.

We have institutionalized stripping, ripping, and putting our hat on the ball. It is causing more fumbles and causing more fumbles will lead to more fumble recoveries. Pretty simple and straight forward to me.

I agree with this. It's about the only thing we have going for us on defense.

amazing that the numbers are sooo bad, but yet here we are still undefeated in conference.

Usually those numbers mean that at some point we'll see a regression back to the mean. Not trying to be a hater but just realistic.

What? the mean at this point is a win, which is hardly a regression. The defense is what they are, winning is all that matters.

That's not what "regression to the mean" actually means.

Any word on porters return? I expect to see Perryman back and I hope to see Kirby on a few plays this week. Eddie is playing his *** off for us atm. Kid is the goods.
