OC Discussion Thread

Thomas will work with offensive coordinator Dirk Koetter

Remember when there was a solid rumor that this guy would be Miami's OC, that would have been nice

Koetter is a Grade A play caller. Has a great plan and executes it to perfection. Always has the Defense off balance.

Unless it is the second half of a playoff game. HEY-O!

There are some legs to the James Coley and Miami rumors. Will be interesting to see how things develop over the next couple days

That kind of illusory talk is meaningless. "Some legs" and verbiage like that is usually the result of a few people repeating it on the internet and having it spread like wildfire. I'll need to hear some specific before I see this as remotely possible. Would be a gangster move by Al, though. I'll tell you that. I don't want the guy as our OC, but I'd almost be happy about hiring him just to stick it up fsu's a$$.

I don't really care to have anybody from FSU's offensive staff..but im just a fan.

This is why Golden is Michael Corleone. No emotion involved...very simply, it's strictly business.

My reason for not wanting his as OC has less to do with him being an fsu diehard and more to do with Jambutt being his offensive mentor. I don't care for Jambutt's offense at all. Never have.

Agreed, but I believe AG would have an ultimate say in Offensive Philosophy

I mentioned Thomas a couple pages ago. He has both college and pro experience, and is a QB coach too. Matt Ryan really improved this year also.

He has experience calling plays at the D2 level. He actually led the NCAA in total offense at one point.

I think he'd be a really good hire. He's young and a lot of potential to move up. Hopefully Al gives him a look.

Falcons blew two big leads the last two weeks cause they can't run the ball. This probably is not because of Thomas but I'm not sure I would like this guy as a hire with the Falcons bein such choke artists.

Peter has not been one to tweet things based simply on things he's read from a couple boards.

it all sounds great in theory. It steals away FSU's ace recruiter( ace South Florida recruiter at that) and probably locks up Collins, 6, Kirkland, Coley and KBryant as Canes. However, OC is not a spot where I want a "recruiter". I dont know anything about Coley's philosophies or anything about his actual coaching resume, but I have a feeling he does not measure up to Jedd as a tactician of the offense. Seems like a risky hire to me

If we do bring in Coley, I think we also need to get a proper QB coach as well. As long as our QB and OL are functioning well, we will be alright on O imo.

This is the type of OC I want...not Coley/Lubbick

If Coley is brought in, you can't bring in a QB coach unless you want to get rid of someone else on the staff. No spots left.

Agreed, while it does bother me that we're hiring a Nole, my main issue is that the Noles offense is no good.

Maybe we are going the Alabama route. We are going to have non coaching "consultants"
