Observation on Burns

LOL @ the question: Why are people so enamored with the safety position?

Maybe it's because we start two of them for ***** sake.

As for Burns, I say we give him a look at both and see from there. Whichever one he can be more dominant at is where I would leave him.

Depth wise, safety is more of an issue to me but the Finnie situation makes it closer.

If you guys are wondering what a 110 meter hurdler with crazy length, acceleration and ball skills can do for a defense, take a look at Richard Sherman for Seattle.

Curious so I looked it up....Sherman's best 110m hurdles time is 13.99....Artie's is 13.35

I would rather have him at Safety is athleticism will be needed there to back up Bush, Jenkins, and Carter, especially after this season. I think thats why we are after R. Robinson... Golden is recruiting him as a Safety... This time last year a ton of people where saying Bush would be better at CB, now look they are eating their words. Well they will eat their words once again. The depth at Safety is not deep at all. The staff is looking long term and they have 5 CB's which is a bit light yes but they are good I believe. All the corners we have will get playing time this year and we are gonna fall in love with them... especially one of the RS FR like Dortch or Hope. The only way he plays CB is if we dont bring in a true CB....

Nobody is eating their words on Bush being a corner. I'm almost positive that he could have been just as good at Corner as he was at Safety, it was a matter of choice and the need was greater at safety, when you consider that we had a talented senior in McGee already at Corner. We NO talent at Safety, therefore the decision to move Deon to Safety was made easier.

Bush could have been an AA level corner here. Just so happens he can be the same level safety as well.

Pretty ridiculous actually.

I like Burns at safety. He has more upside at that position - in fact he has all the upside you could want at that position.

I would also give Deon Bush another shot at corner, IMO.

no

Listen up junior, you said yourself the reason bush is a safety was NEED. Run down the list of who we have at corner, and then do the same for safety. We have a lot more talent at corner at the moment.

That pretty much ends the debate.

no it isn't. Do we have someone with his upside at corner? No. Do we have someone with his upside at safety? Yes.

I would never say "no" to trying him at corner but we really don't have anything at safety behind him. Jenkins showed flashes but Bush is the clear leader of the secondary going in to next year.

We tried Bush at safety last year because we were so thin there, that was the fastest way for him to see the field. Are you gonna not give him a shot at corner because he did a good job at safety? That's some ****ed up logic.

How do you know he wouldn't ball out at corner just like he balled out at safety?

You want your four best on the field, that's the bottom line. Whose spot is he gonna take at corner?

Anybody's. Who's spot is he taking at Safety? You're also discounting Jamal Carter at Safety.

burns and bush are about the same size. you could make the argument that either could play at either position. personally i think don't think deon quite has the pure cover skills you'd want in a corner... which is prob why he was tabbed as a safety out of high school. didn't he say on twitter that he's up over 200 pounds now? if he's not now then he will be soon and you're looking at a good size safety. i don't think it really makes sense to switch him now.

as i've said before i'd start burns at corner just out of need, and if jenkins and carter progress as we hope they will then he should prob stay there.

I'll tell you this much - Highsmith and Rogers are not part of the "best 4"

At what point do you put 4 safeties on the field in a game?
