Next years QB....

Good news is Golden wil not be forced to play someone before they're ready. Williams has proven himself capable, if not spectacular. Olsen will have to beat out Williams thoroughly to unseat a Sr. with solid game experience and who's looked good in those games.

pretty good point.

If its close, gotta go with Olsen. Think long term. Ryan Williams only has 1 year left, and we are at least another year away from seriously competing. IF all goes well, we should contend in 2015. Would rather have an experienced QB for 2015.

who you got?

I'm going with Ryan Williams. Why?
Threw for 2,455 yards and 26 touchdowns as a senior at Miramar High...Completed 175 of 282 pass attempts...Set a state record with five touchdown passes in the State Championship game against DeLand, breaking the previous record set by Tim Tebow...Named Beef O'Brady's MVP of the 6A State Championship game...Completed 18 of 21 pass attempts for 254 yards and five touchdowns in leading MHS to its first-ever state title...The 85.7% completion rating set a record, and made him the only QB to hold two state records...Led squad to a 14-1 record and a Class 6A state title.
As a True Freshman at Memphis started 10 games threw for 2075 yards 56.9% 13 tds 10ints while being sacked 31 times.
Winner and performs under pressure without turning the ball over.
For comparison sake, as a Senior Morris started 12 games threw for 2868 yards 58.7% 21tds 12ints while only being sacked 13 times.

I think we will be just fine.

those stats have me laughing, you comparing his hs stats to morris' college stats? and his even worse memphis stats?

I guess we have Forgotten that Ryan WIlliams was offered a scholarship to Arkanzas by Bobby Petrino when he was transfferring from Memphis and wouldve went there if not offered by Miami

I am willing to bet a lifetime ban that Ryan WIlliams will Startnext year and have a higher qb rating then Morris did this year

What i like is how he posted his HS stats which is a none factor after 4years.. then says doesnt turn the ball over with his Memphis stats showing 13td/10int's.... LOL

I'd like to say Olsen, but Golden is conservative so will probably go with Williams.

Ok here's my 2cents and my 2 cents are worth 2.37 cents...

The reason why im not "HIGH" on Ryan Williams...

1) Last years defense was the worst absolute worse in Miami history! Stephen Morris did not participate in Spring had a bad back. Ryan Williams did nothing while Mike James and Duke Johnson ran wild like a Forest fire. Fall comes Stephen Morris rarely competed handed the keys to the offense.

2) This year a one Pirate legged stemo Golden said gave us the best chance at winning, couldnt crack the field except mop up duty

3) never seen him under pressure... Pretty sure he's been tested in practice and Golden didnt like what he saw why SteMo gave them the best option... I love Stephen and what he did for us this year but i thought he couldve rested a game or two to be ready for FSU/VT

Im just not as enthused as majority.. i mean in the past you'd go by Seniority and Williams would get the nod... But after Spring if Olsen/Williams are neck and neck im giving the keys to the freshman

I'm afraid to say I agree with you Vern

I like Williams, and think he got robbed this season. Should have had plenty of chances this season to showcase his ability, and possibly never let Morris back on the field. IMO Morris is just another example of Al letting one of Randy's mistakes play instead of letting someone that has what it takes to excel at the position on the field.

I would have no greater joy, than to see Williams start next season, and just make this offense look unstoppable. Not because he has a better arm, but a better awareness in letting the real play makers, make plays.

Yet in saying that, i would personally give Olsen the nod if it is close. It's time to start building for the future, and letting guys that have a higher ceiling play. It's time to get back to the best players play. Now that the old choir boys that bought your **** when you took the job, are gone. It's time to move forward, and let guys fight it out week to week to see who deserves to play, because it's open comp. Not because joe blow is a senior or any ****.

You have no idea what you are talking about....

Morris has been the starter for the last two. Before him, it was Japicky Harris for three years....news flash! Guys graduate and move on from college....

LULz at three different starting qbs in three years. Not good.

I think he was referring to Williams starting in 2014, and then Olsen/Kaaya starting in 2015.

What makes you think he wasn't given a fair opportunity to showcase his skills?

I think it's going to be Williams too knowing AG!! I do think Olsen will be given some quality reps though. Schedule looks very similar to this years. He could see action in several games and you never know when the starter could go down. Hopefully, AG will start Olsen if Williams struggles with an injury ala Morris did this year. The way that was handled was pretty bad, IMO!!!

I love the fact you left out RW was a true freshman who was sacked 31 times but still only threw 10ints. That just tells you he was always under pressure. Contrast with Morris who threw 12 int as a senior being sacked only 13 times and hardly being touched.

Just like the fact you forgot to mention CONFERENCE USA... How many of those 31 sacks were on him for not having the mobility or pocket presence.. it wasnt all on the O-line.... I was living in N. Little Rock 40 min away from Memphis at the time when Williams was a Freshman... He did not impress me... He still hasnt impressed me... I said in a previous post when i saw him playing that if he ever came to UM all i could see him doing is holding the clipboard calling in plays... He didnt have the "it" then doesn't have sh"it" now... But if he proves me wrong and evolves into a level 100 pokemon and rip **** up ill gladly eat crow & possum.... Pressure bust pipes and Williams folds under pressure
