Next year qb

Scale of 1 to 10 -- what's Allison on the athleticism scale ? Is he a statue like Kaaya? Or does he have enough ability to effectively run the RPO. He throws a beautiful ball.

Rpo does not require the qb to run. Its not read option. Why is it so hard for some of you to understand?

It's the post-fact Irving = Irvin and Hartley = Harley schtick. They don't care.

Prior to injuring his throwing hand Shirreffs was doing better than Capt. Jack in fall camp. Then he reportedly got in Richt's doghouse who didn't think it should have affected him as much as it did. Richt mentioned Rosier and Shirreffs after a practice this past week. If Kaaya leaves we might see Miami go after a grad transfer if they don't think they have a solid starter and backup on the roster. Hopefully the GuYS on the roster now are a lot better than they looked last Spring which wasn't very good.

No chance of a grad transfer at QB over guys that have been here a year and two fresh recruits. Stop it.

Yes, it's two plays the QB has the option to run. We get it dude.

But you'd be hard pressed to find a coach who'dptefer to run it w a non mobile QB.

There are teams that do it without a running threat at qb. Richt isnt changing his offense to a option offense. Yall are so hung up on the rpo **** when just about everybody uses it now.

I know in the NFL for example the Bengals used to run it heavily w Dalton, but there's no comparison to teams that run it w a mobile QB (Carolina, Seattle).

Richt is trying to run the fast break again, no ?

yes he is but you don't need a running QB to do it. Wienke, Weldon, Kannel didn't run well. The offense is predicated on timing, talent, and tempo.

Considering our depth and talent at running back next year (assuming we get McFarland and Edwards transfers), and our lack of proven talent at wide receiver next year besides Richards, I personally would start Rosier and run a zone read, run heavy offense. Rosier is good for 8 to 10 carries a game, and he probably would thrive in that kind of offense. Running the ball down the opposing teams throat and playing great defense gets us 10 regular season wins next year, at least.

Kaaya is a good (not great) QB. Rosier is a backup at this level. No way we win more games with Rosier at QB.

It's going to come down to the spring battle and will end in someone leaving the program. Hopefully with a much improved line and an expected improved running game with a veteran back, the quarterback play will be safe whomever takes over. Should be no worries as long as they don't turn the ball over a lot

I just can't see Shirreffs ever playing meaningful downs at Miami.

I've read all the practice reports on him, but I just don't buy it.

If Kaaya leaves, I think it will be between Rosier and Allison. Weldon looks like his body is ready, and he'll be here for spring, so he'll get his shot, too. But I'd go with Rosier or Allison, unless Weldon is clearly better.

Rosier, Allison, Weldon, Vinny, and Perry is decent QB depth. And if Kaaya actually does come back, I'd have no worries about the QB position on this team.

Lot of time between now and then. Let it play out and let's hope one of them steps up and separates themselves. Need to remember that they have only been in the system one year and Kaya had it on wraps. Lots of progress can be made by all with an open competition and more meaningful reps.

Rosier will get a chance to start......If he fails it will be Allison....IMO Perry needs to add about 10-15 lbs to enter the discussion.

Rosier is just as, if not more talented than Pedo State's QB, who won 11 games this year. If that guy can win 10 games, Rosier can.

This argument is so flawed on so many levels, I don't even know where to begin.

That is just another way of saying "I don't have anything to refute that statement".

Allison is a better athlete than Kaaya as far as running the ball. I saw him play his senior year at Palmetto. He's certainly no Russell Wilson, but he's not a sitting duck either. That said, he's very tall/thin so he's not going to be a guy where we design running plays for him. He does have the athletic ability to escape the rush, or roll out and run if there's nobody open.
