Agree, onto bigger and better—but he's still the type of character that's easy to dislike because we know all his ticks, so this all bark, no bite, empty suit, all the answers energy he's bringing to Penn State is ... annoying. They're talking the guy up like he's the second coming of something and he's a total fraud.
The yacht to the booster event. Tackling dummies with "7-6" on their chests and then going 6-7. Sliding around in the rain post-Virginia. Victory cigars after beating a terrible FSU team. Losing to FIU, Duke and shutout by Louisiana Tech in a bowl game. 0-3 against Mack and 62-24 against North Carolina. 2-4 to start this season and then riding TVD to wins while his defense was trash. Dumb personnel moves that allow 4th-and-14 to take place.
Never once thought about Coker, Shannon, Golden or Richt when they were gone—but seeing Diaz all over Penn State's social media and his dumb little digs about the honor of coaching "Linebacker U"—he's an easy guy to root against and dislike.
No fault of his UM had its own issues, but program also lost another three years under him, pushing the Canes further into mediocrity—21-15 run over that span—which absolutely is his fault.
Dude is a clown. Tries too hard to be liked / accepted by players—like the uncool brother home from college trying to hang out with his brother's high school friends—instead of healthily feared / respected, like all great coaches. Good riddance.
