They got absolutely abused that game. What a night. They had a great o-line in 2017 too led by Nelson at guard. Believe the tackle ended up going 1st round too. They always have a good o-line

McClinchey or something who was a mountain. We ate both alive. They had a great o-line in 2017 too led by Nelson at guard. Believe the tackle ended up going 1st round too. They always have a good o-line
The backups entered the portal because they were filling in for the more talented guys.I thought ND lost like 4 OL? Were they all backups?
Just looked and the whole starting o-line that year played in the nfl at some point. Overall 8 o-linemen on that team made it to the nfl. Including a guy I know dolphins fans love ol eichenbergThey had a great o-line in 2017 too led by Nelson at guard. Believe the tackle ended up going 1st round too. They always have a good o-line
Yea that’s him think he in Denver nowMcClinchey or something who was a mountain. We ate both alive.
Dang I thought a few were startersThe backups entered the portal because they were filling in for the more talented guys.
How can they have the best Oline in the country when we have Mario...........sarcasmTalked to my nephew last night about ND starting spring practice.
With the new rule making teams have only 105 players total, not 85 scholarship and unlimited walk-ons, he definitely will no longer be a player/manager, but just a manager moving forward. LOL
ND started on Wednesday, and obviously nothing can be taken from being in shorts & t-shirts.
He mentioned two things though that were of note that could actually mean something.
1) ND played their last regular season game in November, and the title game on January 20th. So they basically had 2 full months of practice in that time. He said that’s the length of two spring and one full fall camp. But it’s better because every practice was a game week, intense practice, unlike spring & part of fall camps.
Said that the ND players who were not starters basically got 2 months of taking real reps against the 1’s, which was invaluable. With all the injuries ND had, a lot of freshmen & sophomores last season were able to rep & play those 2 months against elite competition, who will be playing this season.
Advancing in the CFP gets you a lot of extra practice for real. So ND got to see a lot of the younger players in that environment, that usually you wouldn’t get to see.
2) The OL is huge & athletic now they are all back. ND lost 4 starters to injury last year, so basically played the CFP with their 2nd string OL. All five starters are back, plus two players who ended up having to start, so top 7 OL.
And the five they rolled out were three 5 Stars & two top 50. That doesn’t include the kid who filled in who was the Freshman All American or the top OT 5 Star in the last class.
The 5 that started off were:
6’7.25 320 (5 Star)
6’5.5 302 (Preseason All American)
6’8 318 (Backup, while starter recovers)
6’7.5 334 (5 Star)
6’6.25 300 (5 Star)
ND feels they are going to have the best OL in the country, and will have 8 guys battling for 5 spots, since so many starters are back from injury, battling the kids who filled in all CFP.
Nothing more to take away, because the first half of spring practice is worthless & nothing but unicorns & rainbows for 130 teams, when 120 of them actually aren’t that good, but somehow every player looks explosive, every coach in an upgrade, & everyone is going undefeated. LOL
Last time ND brought the best OL in the country to hard rock our TF DE ate their lunchMy takeaway is that we got this, right?
Didn’t eat Nelson alive, he was a complete stud.McClinchey or something who was a mountain. We ate both alive.
Redshirt Freshman CJ Carr or perennial backup Steve Angeli. They brought in Sam Hartman and Riley Leonard because they didn't want to start Angeli.who's going to be their starting QB?
A battle between Angeli who was the backup last year, and Carr, the Sophomore who is the highly touted kid. Grandson of Loyd Carr.who's going to be their starting QB?
They also had a very pedestrian RB group.Didn’t eat Nelson alive, he was a complete stud.
The ND QB in that game was the RB who masqueraded as a QB. That kid couldn’t throw at all, lol. He ended up getting benched for a walk on.
I remember times in that game Miami having 9 dudes in the box with zero bodies beyond 5 yards of the LOS.
The ND QB still couldn’t complete a pass.
I know most people realize this, but 2017 has nothing to do with 2025 when both teams have all new staffs.Redshirt Freshman CJ Carr or perennial backup Steve Angeli. They brought in Sam Hartman and Riley Leonard because they didn't want to start Angeli.
Either way they might want to review footage of Ian Book playing us.
Just snort it in your seat don’t **** aroundAll I know is I’m going to need an ambien smoothie if I see chase smith in man coverage on Jeremiyah love.
We're on our second coach since then. Of course I realize they're different. I've also watched enough football to know that a tough game to open the season on the road in humid South Florida is a **** of a place to throw your first college pass.I know most people realize this, but 2017 has nothing to do with 2025 when both teams have all new staffs.
I was reading an article comparing Brian Kelly & Marcus Freeman, and it’s crazy how different they are in big games.
Brian Kelly was horrible. He had one top 5 win in 12 years at ND, and was well below .500 in top 10 games. He only beat teams ND was a lot better then.
The article said Marcus Freeman already has more top 5 wins in 3 seasons than Brian Kelly & James Franklin have combined in over 20 seasons at ND & PSU.
I thought ND was going to lose the opener last year at a ranked Texas A&M, in the heat, in front of 112,000 fans, night game. ND won by double-digits.
Marcus Freeman is the anti-Brian Kelly.
I remember SF drafting McGlinchy and everyone on his nuts during the combine and draftThey got absolutely abused that game. What a night.
