My Stance on Mario

I don’t care how slurper you want to get, There is ZERO excuse for Mario Cristobal to have a definitively worse class than Mike Norvell and Billy Napier. None. Zero. Zilch.

Again, we are 20th in average recruit and with a class currently filled with 24 kids compared to schools “below us” like Texas (17), they’re almost assuredly going to pass us. The average recruit ranking is what I pay attention to the most.

You say we’re seeing the development in front of our eyes…you cannot be blindsided by recency bias. If we had lost to Clemson, the tune would be veryyyy different on here. Imagine if Guidry and Dawson had BETTER PLAYERS AND BETTER TALENT to work with. You don’t think we’d be a top 10 program sooner rather than later?

That development you talk about…how many young guys are playing? Bain and Francis are generational, Fletcher played some…who else? Ray Ray on punts? Wayne sparingly because of injuries? It’s mostly portal guys and upperclassmen we already knew had talent, but we’re in a bad scheme last year.

Luckily, WR has talent coming in. CB? Nah. DT? Nah. Linebacker? People’s feathers will be ruffled so I’ll stay out of that. QB? Pfft.

You mentioned portal. Norvell eats our lunch in the portal, heck he eats everyone’s. Ok…what’s the best way to grab elite portal talent? Money. Have we landed a stud, top transfer from the portal that wasn’t an OL? Deen was 95th, Kiko was 45th…our OL that won us the game on Saturday, we paid for those dudes and in turn, it’s brought us two wins imo (A&M as well). Kiko was a package deal, Deen has been very good but not elite.

We need elite talent ready to contribute. We’re not going to outbid everyone in the portal, it’s just not going to happen. You need to recruit high school better than **** near everyone, especially in-state. You’ll never convince me that being 3rd in the state is fine. That’s beta ****.
It's not over yet! I will leave it there you seem to be all in on your opinion of the matter!

Hey at least I know mine. What is it like being raised by two lesbians?
To think of someone as less of a person because of their parents is pretty beta of you. I’m sure there’s people here that actually don’t know their father.

But wouldn’t expect anything other than an emotional response from you because you have nothing else to say other than to deflect that your Super Corch isn’t living up to the expectations on the trail. You revert to insults because you can’t argue against the numbers.

The incessant defending of Saint Cristobal is a weird fetish on here. He can do no wrong.

carry on, child.

Your father thinks you’re a waste of his $emen.

Where did I say top 5? Reading comprehension isn’t strong with this one. 20 doesn’t equal 5.

Nice edit.

Then stop complaining about FSU and UF fool.

You engage with the commentary and cannot handle a response.

The female tendencies are mounting.

And yet you still refuse to counter with any analytical point or data reference to refute my argument that this class is underwhelming. You have nothing but female insults. It’s ironic that you say I cannot handle a response, when you’re the emotional one.

I’ll keep waiting. We’ve got a macho man here. A true MariBro!! Tough and Phyzical baybeee!!

Emory throwing into an 8 man zone is asking for an INT. Clemson has been dogsh!t bad in the red zone and kicking field goals so you don't risk a turnover when you can put the kid in scoring position and your D has been stopping Clemson. The End!
Throw the short passes he threw all game to Brashard or Ray Ray and let your playmakers with speed try to get you into field goal range. That’s debatable though.

Regardless, and what isn’t debatable, is if Mario’s going to run out the clock - after the GT debacle - you take the knee. The MariBro’s have zero justification for defending this and ignoring it under the guise of “we won” doesn’t change the reality that this guy’s not very smart and is really an awful game coRch. Awful.

Next 4 games will decide the offseason on the board. 3-1 atleast slurpers win anything less then that mopers win. I think it's to early for definitive statement for either side.

Again Susan

On the field was there a talent gap against Clemson?

Simple yes or no

They've been stacking it for over a decade and beat us up and down the field last year 40-10.

Emory was touched ONE TIME and people like YOU will complain about the amount of stars our OL recruits have. Is this real life?

Objectively they know what their doing.

Your subjective opinion is they do not.

That is when your "analysis" stops making sense.

DT recruiting needs to improve. Am I concerned about Mario and company finding kids who can play that position? No. Their evaluations of Gore and Deen blew yours (again) out of the water.

You call me a slurper but I can garuantee you, you were waiting for a Mario loss to get on here and chest bump.

People who care more about their opinions than the actual team (you) are garbage fans.

I'm done here.

The problem with kneeling: Clemson has two TOs.

mario I think will do what Richt did at UGA

get us to the point where a lucky break or two can get us all the way, but not expecting it.

however, i do firmly believe that through culture and talent acquisition, we will be a consistent 10-win team and honestly that's more than we can hope for at this point for our program

The big difference is the move to 12 teams in the playoffs. 10-2 gets you in most years.

Devils Advocacy Group member, here. 👋.

Question, can't the same logic be applied in reverse for the contrary narrative of playing for the win instead?

Also, you could say the same about an 8 man Clemson zone in the redzone, in Overtime, where things are clearly more condensed...

We were looking to gain 20 to 25 yards, I believe. With a good oline and space to work with at the end of regulation.

It's not the end yet, my friend...

I was gonna post this even before Clemson but decided against it as i knew it was only gonna ignite more intense arguments on a 2 game losing streak. Winning v Clemson didnt change it, nor would it have if we lost.

When Mario came in i decided i was gonna allow man to bring in 3 full recruiting classes. So that means when '23 class are 3rd year players. That means im gonna live through asking myself almost once a day, why we didn't kneel the ball v GT, and what tf is up with these random timeouts when it seems we have the upper hand. Playing for overtime when we have Clemson on the ropes. I decided i will live through these things. I figured Manny, Shannon and Golden were not up to the challenge at various points and they never would be. I hear fans talk about some of the mind boggling things Butch did that made fans get on his bum on gameday. Mario Cristobal seems to be almost solely driven by analytics and it seems that leads to some of the questionable game day decisions. I have to not only live with that but expect it. Its part of our team now, its gonna happen.

Lincoln Riley and Kiffin are probably the two most genius coaches and anytime they get into meaningful games on the national stage, they dont even show up. Riley get punked by bro style king Wittingham at Utah back to back and Kiffin getting put his place by one of Saban's worse teams.

Magic coaching not gonna fix us and i like the coordinators we have, even the assistant coaches.

Unless recruiting totally implodes or we just start getting smoke Al Golden and Manny style. Ima strap in. The older i get the more i put things into perspective and see the value of hindsight.

No one game or one event gonna change my stance on that. I see things i like and things i dont like. I like the overall direction.
I agree win or loss I saw mad good. But you can’t say it cause of the losing. The only thing I disagree with is his 22 class. He had to get some of mannys kids cause it was super late. He was able to get momentum picks with skinner and citizen. His first class imo is this 23 class that’s eating.

Curious to see the narrative on Southern Cal after Riley's third class, as well.

Dude shot out the cannon with his office, Williams and reeling in Addison and others out of the portal.

A year and a half in he's lost to Utah three times as his team lacks toughness—and Notre Dame even blew them out two weeks ago, while Arizona took them to three overtimes and Colorado almost came back from being down 41-14.

Washington, Oregon and UCLA look. Dude could very easily end this season 7-5 at worst and 8-4 at best—after he got sucked off for 11-3 last year.

His "genius" won't bode well in the Big Ten if he doesn't take playing defense seriously (a la Pete Carroll) and doesn't put a precedent on a built-tough running game.
His teams (Oklahoma) are/were soft.

I think we hit the zenith of retarded coaching decisions by Mario so it's all getting better from here.

If we want to re-write history, Miami won 19-17 on a 4th-quarter FG.

didn't fans hate on Butch's game management?

Yes, especially early on when he was a first time college HC, but IMO, it’s become way overstated. Look at his last game against a very good UF team in the 2000 Sugar Bowl, guy was prepared and managed the game toe to toe with one of the best gameday coaches of the era. And before anyone mentions some random TO he took at UNC vs Ark St, spare me please.

"Playing for overtime when we have Clemson on the ropes." @supacane

With one of the best place kickers in all of college football warming up on the sidelines.

Signed,

Peruche
They didn’t trust to throw it and blow the game. I agreed with the kneel. If we ran a 20 yarder in the early downs, then you take a shot which they would have if that happened.
