Moving on from Guidry

They didn’t fatten up anybody. Bain is just naturally that size as a matter fact he actually lost a few pounds. Messidor hasn’t added any weight either. Messidor and Bain are just naturally tweeners
ok, bro, they both will not excel the way the staff is currently using them.

Guidry has had players in position until recently. What has changed pre-snap. The safeties just seem to have waaayyy too much space to cover. Something has changed. Is it different looks from offense, injuries, players do not execute?

Im just confused by the regression. His first two years, he was pretty **** solid...makes no sense

That's the crazy part. The regression in his scheming and the play of a lot of players. Kiko was a sure tackler last year. He was being touted by national media as a top LB and possible Butkus candidate. This year he is flopping and flailing around like he doesn't know how to break down and tackle. Schemes have also been pathetic. How do you let a team like GT run a handful of plays over and over without adjusting?
Wouldn't linebacker technique and even diagnosis fall on the LB coach?

Why can't we bring in a defensive assistant? Like the Joe Brady of defense to help Guidry out. We need help. The national narrative is that Miami is completely incapable of making any defensive adjustments. I heard it 3 times already...once from that fat **** Booger " Miami suffers from poor coaching"
Booger ripped tf out of Mario and Lance.
Booger, of all people.

Why has Bain's impact dropped so procipitously?

Are D Nic or Jason Taylor ready to be a DC is my question. But we all know we have WAY too many liabilities in the back 7. Lacking speed, lateral agility, and football IQ. All that lack is how you keep getting abused by the same plays over and over.

now you moving the goal post. You was claiming they making them add weight which is false now you are saying they aren’t being used right
no I’m not. How do u think they aren’t using them right…. By having them gain unnecessary weight. Mesidor was noticeably more impactful playing DE, Bain last season was noticeably quicker playing DE. Usually in a 4-3 u want your DEs on the quicker side, 265lbs max.

GT's defense was the exact opposite today. Always in their gap.or zone and put on a tackling clinic. Miami had limited yards after contact. That GT defense was extremely well coached.
Santucci was a huge pickup for GT when Elko went to AM from Duke. He is Elko guy and you can see how they are sound and executed their gameplan

Messidor was never in the 260s. He has been in the 270-280 range the last 3 years. He is 280 now. Bain hasn’t been 265 since the off-season of his freshmen year. They both are tweeners and have always been. I agree messidor is at his best at DE and then kick inside at times to rush the qb

Guidry to me is a guy that has shown he can lead a defense. I don’t think he’s an elite coordinator but I do think he’s proven he can field a top 25 type defense.

What I’ve seen this year though is perplexing. I don’t know if it’s the players or the coordinator but I’m usually a “it’s probably somewhere in the middle” kind of guy.

Guidry has been exposed and out coached. Week after week. There’s no doubt about that.

But last year, Dawson’s offense struggled largely because of QB play. This year they fixed that with Cam.

Much harder to fill holes on defense though. There is no 1 position on defense that can absolutely win you games you shouldn’t win like a QB can.

Mario and co totally botched their portal haul defensively. Took undersized IDL with really only Barrow panning out. And fell flat on their DB haul. Let’s not forget we had that Vandy safety committed before he decommitted late and then we didn’t rally backfill.

Couple that with sh*t IDL and DB recruiting means you get these types of results.

I don’t really think this is an overnight fix either. We’re going to need like 7 new starters on the D next year. That’s a scary proposition.

Well, this is actually his 2nd year. I'll agree he was decent last year. He only got cooked by two teams that have very good/elite offenses (Louisville and UNC).

To me, it appears he's running a slightly different scheme this year. Seems to perform better when our opponent's offense comes to the line and does not do any movement or shifting. Once the offense sends a man in motion or shifts players (like we see consistently now), the defense is confused and gives up a play for positive yardage every time. We are starting to get beat pre-snap more than the Golden/D'onfrio days.

OC's with a pulse have exposed his scheme. Any OC from a P4 conference will continue to do this on a regular basis. They don't have to line up their best 11 and beat our best 11. Just use motion and shifting and create that mismatch or get our guys out of position. What makes this so concerning is they are making this look so easy. It's week 10 and Guidry has no answer.

Lol we're 9-1, lost 1 game by 5 points, and control our own destiny. You think our DC who got a raise and extension last year is getting fired during a bye week? Cmon, close thread
In conference games, Miami ranks 14th out of 17 teams in scoring defense (31.7 ppg allowed), 13th in sacks (11), and 14th in red zone defense. If the defense had even been average during conference play, Miami is probably still undefeated with way more comfortable victories.

Matter of fact, you tell me what this defense consistently does well right now?
