Moving on from Guidry

This is a genuine question and not based on anything I've seen or heard: is there any possibility that Mario would let go of Guidry during the season? Going into the bye week would be the time to do it, to give the interim two weeks to get ready for Wake Forest. Feels like we're delaying the inevitable at this point anyways. UVA just beat Pitt, so Miami is back in the driver's seat to go to the ACC title game. The offense's struggles was a one-off in my opinion, Cam was just good instead of God-mode. The defense being at least average is the key to Miami winning the ACC title, getting a bye and hosting a playoff game, and simply getting to the playoff.

I think it would be best, but have no idea if it will happen. Just throwing my thoughts out there. #GoCanes

Very little, if they did I guess JT would be the play caller. Unfortunately we don’t have any other coaches who have called plays before and with JT it was just high school. Mario will probably just move on from him at the end of the season

I need a study on what happened. Last year he was a savant. Except Louisville and unc.

This year is different. Is it all players?

Last year we had tecory couch flying in on blitzes. Smothering Clemson. Battling fspoo with backup corners. WTH man

I think it’s both the players and coaches, players are not fundamentally sound which is on the coaches. Really all 3 of units are struggling. DL is extremely underachieving, they were supposed to be what this defense leaned on all season and they get very little pressure. Kiko is probably the worst full time starter we have had in a long time. He hurts this team more than probably any other player, opposing offenses target him every game. Our safeties just look clueless most of the time and constantly blow assignments or just flat out whiff on making a tackle. It’s just really bad across the board.

I don’t need to be an x and o savant to know that the defense looks confused all game, blow coverages, get out of position, tackle poorly, lack fundamentals… it’s coaching. What their excuse, ALL the players we recruited are completely retarded?

GT's defense was the exact opposite today. Always in their gap.or zone and put on a tackling clinic. Miami had limited yards after contact. That GT defense was extremely well coached.

Every season has a scapegoat.

This year, it’s Guidry.

I don’t know if he’s any good or not, but he didn’t look anywhere near this bad last year. In fact, I thought he did more with less.

Not sure what happened. That said, our defensive personnel isn’t that good right now, especially with injuries.

We’re counting on multiple G5 transfers in key spots (Cook, Alston, Hill).

There’s just a lot of JAGs on defense. Need a talent infusion there. We need a good hit rate with the ‘24 class.
We have enough talent to not to be this bad. I look at a team like Indiana and look how there defense is playing. Indiana isn’t loaded with big recruits. We shouldn’t need a loaded roster to stop duke and gt

Crazy! everyone was kissing this guys *** last season saying dont let this man out of "Miami" smfh!
Last season? The first four games he couldn’t do any wrong . I remember seeing someone post that he’s one of our greatest DC’s ever

The post mentioned specific player who wasn’t G5, and until 2 months wasn’t a jag. The Dline is filled with non G5 not JAG until recently players, and what they’re doing is insane. It’s fair to question the head man who’s delivering this garbage.

What’s the difference between a scapegoat and a reason?

if you are sitting behind Powell, Harris, kiko, hill, Richard, at a certain point you have to consider transferring.
If you are younger and more talented, why watch them mess up?
You are calling for talented kids on this team to transfer? You might wanna stay away from the keyboard for a lil while...

I’d make an argument before he went to 3-3-5 it was trash a scheme. Thought he gave up way too much against a&m and it looked off watching nyjalik kelly drop in coverage.

How much blame do we put on coaches for roster contruction? Because that DL is overrated. There is a lack of quality depth at the DE position. There was room for guys like Hunte, Thomas Gore, and Elijah Roberts. Instead we let them walk to replace with guys like Cook and Clark. DT depth is so suspect, the staff has to fatten up guys like Bain and Mesidor in case they have to slide them inside, which has made them slow and taken away there impact at the DE position. Just imagine a DE rotation of Bain, Mesidor, and Baron, all around 255-260lb ranging from 6’3-6’5.

He’s not even getting fired at end of the season.
He just got a THREE year extension. He’ll be here at minimum another year. Get ready for another lousy defense next year, because our defense will continue to suck while this tard is here.

Dude can’t make any adjustments, he doesn’t understand the concept of contain or defend the edges even when he knows where the ball is going. Our run fits and lane assignments are horrible. He defends the run about as good as Manny, except with out the pressures, TFL and sacks. Guy is terrible and needs to GTFO.

They didn’t fatten up anybody. Bain is just naturally that size as a matter fact he actually lost a few pounds. Messidor hasn’t added any weight either. Messidor and Bain are just naturally tweeners
