More words of Wisdom off the insidetheuboard by coach No d

I don't care how coach d sounds. If you can't teach something it means you don't understand it well enough.

Can you please list all of the elite talent on last years defense that Coach D was supposed to have taught some miracle to? As the talent increases so goes the defense.

I know fans want an elite defense overnight but unfortunately this rebuild is taking time. Fans joke about "Brick by Brick" but that is exactly how this rebuild is being handled. From the ground up on solid foundation.

Despite what fans want to think the talent level at Miami had become a joke by Miami standards. I think the coaching staff did a great job with 9 wins this past season considering what they had to work with.

If anybody thought Miami had a shot at beating Louisville in the bowl game then they are just retarded. That's on them as being delusional fans. The coaches have no control over unrealistic expectations. You don't snap your fingers and have a championship football program. Doesn't work that way.

The wins have increased and this past recruiting class was Goldens best yet. This next recruiting class can be even better. The defense will get better and better which will push the offense as it does. Patience....

We didn't "lose" to Louisville; we got absolutely embarrassed. Sorry, but there is no credible excuse for that abysmal performance in our first bowl game in three years.

And I was one of the minority on this board that did not expect us to win that game. I had the rather limited expectation that we would be prepared and play well, but would likely come up short in the end bc Bridgewater is a stud.

Louisville was a better team from top to bottom. Did I want a better showing out of Miami? Sure I did. Unfortunately things didn't go our way.

Again, name all of this elite talent on last years defense that coach D was supposed to work miracles with. I look down the defensive depth chart from last season and thought things could have been worse especially when Duke went down for the season. Scott was injured early. Dorsett missed games?

Most rational fans knew the offense would have to carry the team. They also knew if Duke went down the season was over. Then you throw in a QB that lived and died by the long ball and was terrible at sustaining drives and it is what it is.

The defense is getting better and will continue to do so as more talent gets to Miami. I'm enjoying watching the young guys grow up. Another recruiting class or two and Coker or Shannon could coach this team to 10 wins.

I never said we had a bunch of elite players on defense. In fact, I was one of those saying before last season that our talent and depth were still weak, particularly at the most important position - DT. Regrettably, that problem will persist for the foreseeable future bc of our recruiting failures.

But regarding Louisville, we got abused in all phases. Our offense was pathetic and unable to adjust to the most basic challenges - the DL jumping the snap and them dancing around while Morris looked to Coley for a play call. Those failures were inexcusable.

Similarly, our defense got embarrased.

The entire team was unprepared. We got beaten worse than the vast majority of the teams Louisbille played last year. That horrendous performance is attributable to more than the lack of elite defensive talent or any injuries. We got out coached.

1. Instant gratification? Where have you been? The program has been mediocre (and that is putting it nicely) for over a decade.

2. Increasing wins? Deep analysis. Did you use that same argument for Randy Shannon? That must have worked out really well.

3. Hostility towards a staff that stayed loyal? Staying loyal is trying to run off and get the PSU job, while losing recruits in the process? Is Al Golden not being paid millions of dollars to coach the UM football team? I forgot, he was running a charity and oversaw us through the NCAA for free, out of his own goodwill. Thank you Saint Golden.

#1 Yes instant gratification. Golden and this staff have not been here a decade. Giving Coker that contract extension prematurely which set this all in motion has nothing to do with this coaching staff. You're delusional if you thought any coach worth a **** was coming to Miami and winning overnight after Coker and Shannon got done burning the program to the ground.

#2 Yes the wins have increased and Golden beat the Gators this year. I wasn't a huge Randy fan but also understood the dynamics of the Coker contract fiasco. Randy had to be given shot on the cheap while that contract was over. And yes, I supported his increasing wins while questioning his decreasing recruiting classes. That's not the case here. Goldens recruiting is getting better while the wins are increasing.

#3 Pure speculation on your part. You have no clue what transpired behind closed doors with Golden and PSU. To say otherwise is pure BS. Most rational fans understand that PSU was searching for a HC and Golden is PSU alumni. Throw enough millions at anybody and they might be tempted, even you. And here's the kicker that your blind hatred missed. Yes! Golden stayed through the NCAA that he inherited. The ruling was handed down BEFORE PSU came looking. How do you know PSU wasn't just consulting with Golden? Despite what some of our stupid fans think Golden is well respected in the coaching community and his opinion holds weight where it counts where as yours does not.

Louisville was a much better team than Miami last year. Can't really compare how they did during the season against other opponents with what happened with a month to prepare for Miami.

Their defense was leaps and bounds better than our defense and you knew TB was going to score points. Not having Duke on offense changed the entire dynamic of the entire team. He's that good and was in pace to break records at Miami.

Bring in the talent and the coaching will look better and better.

As Ridler said in another thread (and any 'Canes fans know), Miami almost extinguished his football team years ago because the team was horrible...

Well, Coach D managed to put a defense worse than those teams.

Just think about this for a moment...

so is a top 15 D not considered a good defense? i just want to make sure i'm understanding that correctly.

Yep, the program had fallen to epic lows. That's why When Golden stepped in he spent time breaking the program down "weeding out cancers" before the rebuild ever took place.

Again, name all of these studs that coach D was supposed to field this championship defense with. When you're talent isn't where it needs to be and you're implementing a new system you get a **** product.

Sure as **** isn't about schemezzzz

It was basically the transcript from his interview after the 1st padded practice (yesterday I believe), and there were no excuses he was asked a few questions about some of the players on the team and he answered no excuses..

I believe someone posted a thread with the videos if youre a listener and not a reader..

What have you seen from Tyriq McCord and Al-Quadin Muhammad at the rush defensive end spot?

“I think it is going good. They are two talented guys. I don’t want to say they are one dimensional, but they are very good pass rushers. They were opposite one another on third down for us and they still are, so I am able to get them on the field separately and together. They can each set the edge, rush the passer, and jam and re-route guys if they have to drop back as well.”
35.gif

McCord had two interceptions this year...

Yeah....and that's exactly why he was recruited...for his coverage ability.

Can't wait til that ******* gets fired.

He seemed reserved during the interview.

No matter what he says fans will criticize.

He built a good D at Temple, so I still hold hope.

Did he now? Please enlighten me and show me a good Offense he had success against. Please show a team that runs this retarded Defense that has won a championship.

After 3 years all I expected was competent defense... not a top 10 because our talent level was terrible, but theres no excuse (after 3 years!) for that abomination we saw last season. It´s unfair to ask for a competent defense in year 3 of a regime?!?

Look at the defensive rankings and see some of the Colleges with much better defenses than us... They do get less access to talent than Miami for God sake!

To construct a better picture, take a look at Logan Thomas performances against ACC teams before Miami game... Now, go look at what he did against Coach D defense... remember?!?!

He manage to play like a heisman candidate QB!!! And this has been a pattern since Coach D started his tenure at Miami, always making scrubs QB´s seem heisman candidates and teams in the bottom of rushing rankings explode to 500 yeards against us. These are facts and not an opinion.

Believe what you want, and I had patience until last season to see some improvment, but after 3 years with no change in defensive staff (could work as an excuse) and atrocious results, I lost my faith.

And don´t even get me started in the adjustments part, the most scariest thing about Coach D...

I'm not satisfied with the performance of the defense. But I also understand that depth chart on the defense hit an all time low by Miami standards. After 3 years means very little when you walk in and the cupboards are completely bare and you're having to recruit with both hands tied behind your back against big time programs.

You can make the claim that there are programs who don't have access have put better defenses on the field. Having access to talent and actually having the talent are two completely different things. There were players here who had no business having a scholarship at all and wouldn't even play at those programs you're referencing.

You have to be realistic in your expectations. Seeing Gaines, Highsmith, Rogers, and company on the depth chart should have tipped you off that things aren't there yet. Then also consider a brand new more advanced system is being implemented and you have the defense we've seen the past two seasons. You can only do so much as a coach and then it's up to the players to make plays.

Then consider Scott and Duke went down for the season and Dorsett missed games and a 9 win season is better than it could have been.

Plus, this its up to the players BS can´t be used in year 3, period! You must be related to Coach D or one of Miami people Yandle send to patrol message boards. Like someone said, you must be trolling...

No troll here. I love how you clowns put a time frame together as if it means anything. Did the same thing to Butch while he was building the greatest CFB team ever assembled and then wonder why he bounced. Just history repeating itself with our stupid *** fans. Instant gratification know nothings.

I think golden is serving his purpose here which is recruit bring in better talent. I dont think golden is a championship caliber coach and there aint nothing wrong with that. Golden throughout his career just gets outcoached too much especially in big games. Even at temple when they had the best team in the mac golden was outcoached in a couple big games and his team chocked and never won the mac.

It's TEMPLE - they were awful before Golden arrived, and they've gotten worse every year since he left. They lost to Fordham last year for gods-sake. I guess he must have something right there.

If you're having trouble naming elite talent then you have a problem with goldens recruiting. No sense in getting mad at strong and l-ville for doing a better job of putting together his team and coaching his players. Seems to me that Miami finishes above l-ville every year in recruit rankings...so what's the problem ? You claimed golden just had his best year yet? Based on what? Recruit rankings. You can't have it both ways. Miami was blown out no because of inferior players but inferior coaching. The players Miami had on hand were good enough for a better showing.

Miami returned how many players with starting experince this year ? What does Golden need? A team full of 5 star jr's and sr's? Ridiculous.

Miami's biggest issue is coaching.

so is a top 15 D not considered a good defense? i just want to make sure i'm understanding that correctly.

Is manny hazard the greatest wr in NCAA history? That's what the stats say? Would you take manny hazard over randy moss? That's stats say hazard was a better wr.

To answer your question....temples defense was decent not good. They never beat anybody good, stopped a great offense nor did the perform well against the better teams/ offenses in the Mac.

We'll just agree to disagree. I've seen stupid asses like you change your entire tune once the program starts rocking again. All of you were on your knees ready to lick the dingle berrys out of Goldens *** crack after beating UF and starting the season 7-0. Then the injuries started mounting and lack of depth showed its face and you clowns turned on him like the fakes you are.

Guess what? It was the schemezzz that got Miami to 7-0 last season. Think about that for a second mope.

Garbage schedule/ teams got Miami 7-0.
