What is happening with DE Dwayne Hoilett, that a freshman Darrion Owens can pass him to become the 3rd rush end in the pressure package. I thought this was supposed to his year after spending two yrs in utough.

It was basically the transcript from his interview after the 1st padded practice (yesterday I believe), and there were no excuses he was asked a few questions about some of the players on the team and he answered no excuses..

I believe someone posted a thread with the videos if youre a listener and not a reader..

What have you seen from Tyriq McCord and Al-Quadin Muhammad at the rush defensive end spot?

“I think it is going good. They are two talented guys. I don’t want to say they are one dimensional, but they are very good pass rushers. They were opposite one another on third down for us and they still are, so I am able to get them on the field separately and together. They can each set the edge, rush the passer, and jam and re-route guys if they have to drop back as well.”

McCord had two interceptions this year...

McCord and AQM doing what they are born to do, could have generated 10 or more for our LB´s and DB´s

We were consistently incapable of getting pressure with just the front 4. I don't rule out coaching incompetence and am not by any means convinced D'Onofrio can make it here, but in terms of scheme I do not fault him for trying to create confusion for the offense via zone blitz.

the only people getting confused are our own players.

He seemed reserved during the interview.

No matter what he says fans will criticize.

He built a good D at Temple, so I still hold hope.

The problem is that he is not at friggin Temple! Clearly there are no excuses for the players this year. Heck, Al wasn't giving the players any excuse last year either. They ONLY people getting excuses are the coaching staff and that is inexcusable. All I hear is "needs to get in the playbook." These are all this staff's recruits, if they can't master the playbook, then maybe the problem is the PLAYBOOK.

These guy think they are Bill Parcels. Parcels has lived off his Giants' success despite failing everywhere else. Look at the player he had on that defense and you will realize that any scheme would have worked -- well unless you dropped LT into deep coverage every play. There are no Lawrence Taylors running around Greentree.

I don't care how coach d sounds. If you can't teach something it means you don't understand it well enough.

Can you please list all of the elite talent on last years defense that Coach D was supposed to have taught some miracle to? As the talent increases so goes the defense.

I know fans want an elite defense overnight but unfortunately this rebuild is taking time. Fans joke about "Brick by Brick" but that is exactly how this rebuild is being handled. From the ground up on solid foundation.

Despite what fans want to think the talent level at Miami had become a joke by Miami standards. I think the coaching staff did a great job with 9 wins this past season considering what they had to work with.

If anybody thought Miami had a shot at beating Louisville in the bowl game then they are just retarded. That's on them as being delusional fans. The coaches have no control over unrealistic expectations. You don't snap your fingers and have a championship football program. Doesn't work that way.

The wins have increased and this past recruiting class was Goldens best yet. This next recruiting class can be even better. The defense will get better and better which will push the offense as it does. Patience....

We didn't "lose" to Louisville; we got absolutely embarrassed. Sorry, but there is no credible excuse for that abysmal performance in our first bowl game in three years.

And I was one of the minority on this board that did not expect us to win that game. I had the rather limited expectation that we would be prepared and play well, but would likely come up short in the end bc Bridgewater is a stud.

Louisville was a better team from top to bottom. Did I want a better showing out of Miami? Sure I did. Unfortunately things didn't go our way.

Again, name all of this elite talent on last years defense that coach D was supposed to work miracles with. I look down the defensive depth chart from last season and thought things could have been worse especially when Duke went down for the season. Scott was injured early. Dorsett missed games?

Most rational fans knew the offense would have to carry the team. They also knew if Duke went down the season was over. Then you throw in a QB that lived and died by the long ball and was terrible at sustaining drives and it is what it is.

The defense is getting better and will continue to do so as more talent gets to Miami. I'm enjoying watching the young guys grow up. Another recruiting class or two and Coker or Shannon could coach this team to 10 wins.

Are they really? The best defense these kids seem to have been capable of is actually defending D'Onofrio from criticism. I may be wrong but all the "off the record" comments attributed to actual current players and not the Sapps, Winstons, etc have just been a pretty weak desire that they wished it was a more aggressive scheme at some points. A pretty generic non-biting critique. I've seen far more comments along the line of "The scheme is fine. We just need to execute individually.". Sure, that could just be a kid reciting what he thinks he should be saying but I don't think we've heard any actual undercurrents of current players not buying into what D'Onofrio is shoveling toward them.

The coaching staff is in a catch 22 with the fans. They are damned if they do and damned if they don't. Run a less complicated system for lesser talent than what Miami is used to or implement the complicated system and let the talent catch up while building for the future?

Our fans are an instant gratification bunch. They don't want to hear about NCAA cloud or any other problems that have plagued the coaching staff despite the validity to it. They want wins now! Waaaaahhhh!!! They go out and talk **** about how badly the Canes are gonna and then when it doesn't come to fruition they turn on the staff who told them they aren't there yet.

I think what we'll start to see because the coaching staff has stuck to their game plan is a system where players entering learn quicker because the roster knows the defense better now and players can coach players up along with the coaches. Anytime you install a new and more advanced scheme it's going to take more time to get acclimated especially when the talent level is at an all time low.

Again, wins are increasing and this is the best recruiting class Miami has had in a long time. The 2015 class looks to be loaded with talent and Miami has major interest and is off to a great start. I don't understand the hostility towards a staff that is working their asses off to rebuild this program? They even stayed loyal through an NCAA investigation when they easily could have hauled ***.

It's nice looking down the roster and seeing the numbers getting back to how they should be. The Canes will be a dominant force once again. It's all cyclical and our time is fast approaching.

1. Instant gratification? Where have you been? The program has been mediocre (and that is putting it nicely) for over a decade.

2. Increasing wins? Deep analysis. Did you use that same argument for Randy Shannon? That must have worked out really well.

3. Hostility towards a staff that stayed loyal? Staying loyal is trying to run off and get the PSU job, while losing recruits in the process? Is Al Golden not being paid millions of dollars to coach the UM football team? I forgot, he was running a charity and oversaw us through the NCAA for free, out of his own goodwill. Thank you Saint Golden.
