Mongario Gonna Mongario

Tough times for Canes Connection.

Year 3 Mario can’t beat Syracuse with Cam Ward at QB, basketball loses to Charleston Southern after losing 10 straight to close last season, and baseball is coached by JD Arteaga and missed the tournament.

At least we have the Cavinder’s for a couple more months?
was that last part supposed to be bad or good? lol

Mario got the results with one of the best collectives in the country. 10-2 was the ceiling.

Now that the contributions won’t be the same, results will correlate. I’m not sure what’s so hard to understand.

What’s the roster and record look like if you cut $3-5M of players off the squad? Cut Cam, Barrow, etc. and where are we?
"Now that the contributions won’t be the same,"

Is this factual or your opinion?
Honest question.

Yes lmao I'm looking for a solution or answer. If you think firing Mario is the right choice, then who do you replace him with?
Gotcha. Honestly because I think it’s so unlikely, I haven’t really generated a “Hot board”.

Off the top of my head…

Ben Johnson if for some unknown reason he’s not an NFL HC, like a 1% chance pretty much
Same goes for Brian Flores, highly unlikely. Just two NFL guys for fun as extreme long shots.

John Sumrall
GJ Kinne
Kurt Cignetti
Lance Leipold
Dan Mullen if that mf would hire recruiters around him
Mike Gundy
Jeff Brohm

Obviously Kiffin will get unreal backlash, so I’ll leave him out.

***He should be penalized for the self-inflicted issues this year***

BUT, I think he’d keep the offense humming and has proven he can field a defense through the portal. Not sure if he can win a natty here.

Other than that? Maybe Jedd Fisch or Barry Odom.

These college guys are all HC’s obviously. Haven’t dove into coordinators much, but some come to mind

I’ll take it lol.

In all seriousness, what are we getting from NIL investment? Our basketball team is as bad as it’s been since the early 90’s, baseball had a losing record for the first time in god knows how long (we missed the tournament in Jim’s last 2 years but those teams didn’t have losing records), and I’m not sure what to make of football. Despite massive investment, we can’t separate from the ACC middle of the pack and somehow fielded a worse defense than we saw under Mark D’Onofrio.

It’s pretty astounding and concerning.

Sark tonight….Wisner 33 rushes, 186 yards. These games come down to this. Dawson way too cute instead of just pounding the rock when it’s there

It also helps when you have the #2 ranked defense in the country

If you look at it from the macro perspective, 10 wins is awesome. We all said 10 and an ACCCG appearance was the expectation. We got the first part.

But the fact of the matter is, the finish was reminiscent of prior Miami teams, despite a very manageable path, totally in our control.

- The best QB in the country
- The best offense in America
- FSU and Clemson down
- Louisville average
- UNC a non-factor
- the healthiest team in America

The expectations changed as soon as November rolled around. It was make the ACCCG, or bust. Make the playoff, or bust.

And boy, did we combust into flames at the very first sign of meaningful football against GT. Then we got a gift, and we proceeded to do it again against Syracuse.

I can excuse one loss. Two? No. Especially not as a double digit favorite. And lastly, especially not in November.

How you finish is more important than how you start.
This is fair. Can't argue against this post.

That's more on Mario than Dawson. We were throwing the ball with ease throughout the game, we do a lot of RPOs, and Dawson has said he relies on the position coaches to sub guys in and out.

Mario's the head coach. He should have stepped on some toes and recognized that the best chance we had to get out of the Dome with a win was to run #6 till the wheels fell off. We couldn't stop their offense. Should have been obvious at 21-7. Definitely was 21-14. There were 3 drives after that when Martinez got a single carry total. Two of them he didn't step on the field.

The money is cut drastically for 2025 and beyond. $20M NIL roster will never happen here again until someone on this board hits the powerball.

This was the chance.

Indiana crowd funded more money to their collective from basic fans at halftime, excluding their big boosters and 6 figure and beyond donors, a few games ago than Miami has had from basic fan subscriptions and donations dating back to day 1.

It’s over.

Not sure how true this is but it doesn’t surprise me our fan donations are not that good. We had trouble filling 80% of our stadium despite having a Heisman front runner at QB and an undefeated record. We like to say we’re a crowd of 65K but it’s not true.

Some of these state schools sell out every week even when they stink and they are playing Grand Canyon university at noon in twelve degree weather while they’re 3-7 on the season. It’s a way of life for their communities and the fans go all out in spending for NIL and donations. We have a big fan base but i think it’s spread out in the country which makes it difficult for fans to show up for home games but we always show up to road games with a ton of fans.

“How you do something, is how you do everything.” - Wario Cristobal

The caveman crapped the bed once again. As I stated a couple of weeks ago, the verdict is in. No amount of talent will be able to overcome the meathead’s lack of ability to identify and hire great coordinators and his horrendous gameday corching.

Disappointed but not surprised. This is Mario’s ceiling. He’ll win you 10 games and occasionally make a conference championship but he’ll never win anything of consequence.

It's as good as it gets.

We haven't been an elite program for 20 years.

I don't have dreams of winning a national championship anymore. It would be great, but when you look at everything, are honest with yourself, it won't happen again, you'll come to the same conclusion.

It was an entertaining season. We looked respectable and that's what our ceiling is. I know some will say we were this close had we just won those two games. Just as easily we could've lost more.

Decent team, never felt comfortable past mid-season Cal and VT games.

No shame on any of it for the powers that be here. Mario is safe regardless of what us as fans say, want, or think.

Sounds like there's almost no point in being a fan if that's the case. If $20 mil get's you 10 wins then we're looking at 7-8 wins from here on out. Not a pretty picture.
$20 mil another CIS fabrication.

I love how this board comes up with new made up things after every loss.

OSU spent $20 mil on their roster as has been
Open stated by them and talked about on just about even college football show this seasons.

Now look at their roster and look at this roster and honesty think if they cost the same.

And he won "infinitely more" in games and recruiting than Manny did too lol. Wait do you think Mario hasn't had to deal with big School bags in the new NIL world? ha.

Why does THIS YEAR results mean next year or the year after we won't be able to get further? lol. That makes zero sense. Ask yourself who the best recruits we have gotten are and when they are going to be Juniors. That is when we should be the best - as long as we can also hit at QB. With this ACC and THIS Schedule... are we going to be in the ACC next year or did that change?

2022 Class we finished 13th in recruiting. Those guys are juniors. Wanna guess where we finish in the rankings this year?
2023 Class we finisehd 7th in recruiting. We will see where we finish in the rankings next year
2024 Class we finished 4th in recruiting. But sure lets say its impossible for us to improve on this season lol.

There is a new buzzword on the board it’s called “duhvelopment”

That started getting throw around after the GaTech loss. So these guys are going to spend the summer make biased data trying to try and prove that Mario is a great recruiter but can’t develop.

They’ll ignore how many 4* and 5* that schools like Bama, UGA and OSU churn through to find the cream of the crop and basically since 100% of Mario players don’t go on to become all Americans and 1st round draft picks he can’t develop and the fact they all can’t get on the field as freshmen mean they weren’t actually good recruits.

Plus this is CIS 60% of the ppl still here are secretly rooting for the Canes to fail so they can come up and bump all their “I told you so post”.

The issue is deeper than Mario. As a Bears fan, I can tell you that incompetence for that long stems from a total systemic rot starting at the top. The years of bad coaches is just a symptom. If Mario is responsible for the coaches and players underneath him (he is), then the people who hired Mario need to be held accountable too. The people who did that are not serious people. And if they are serious people, then they are incompetent when it comes to building a championship level football program. Watching this Texas/Tamu game is a stark reminder of how far behind we
Whoever was involved in all these failed HC hires at Miami need to be removed from the hiring process. That’s the 1st step in moving in the right direction
