So we pony up more $ for the portal and if we win 10 games again, then **** him?
I'm just trying to get a benchmark here
Not necessarily.
I mentioned it above, but there’s a few factors as to why I think this November finish was extremely disappointing given the following situation.
- FSU was historically ***
- Louisville was decent but not great
- UNC was down
- Clemson was down
- We were extremely fortunate with injuries. OL where we’re deep, we missed Rivers for like 2 conference games. No QB, RB, WR injuries, no DT injuries other than Barrow for one half, no LB injuries, etc. Very healthy overall, certainly more than you can say about pretty much every top 10 team. A lot of these teams had multiple starters out for the year.
- Best offense in America
- Best QB in America
I think it’s unrealistic to assume we’ll be either of those things next year, making the bar lower.
Additionally, the schedule is much tougher on paper. I’d say as of right now, ball parking who we lose, this is a 7-8 win team at most (pre portal acquisitions).
In fact, if we win 10 again, I think that would be pretty good. We have to play UF, ND, SMU, VT, NC State, Pitt, Cuse, Louisville, etc.
But given how it all shook out, losing two of three late…especially when you controlled your own destiny and were double digit favorites…not a ringing endorsement from me.
4-9 in November now, it’s more than a coincidence. I was actually so pumped to start out hot, actually look prepared…and then it completely fell apart.
