Molly McGrath talks to Behind the U about TVD and Dawson

Eh alot of times when players do speak up about playcalling they get called "divas" . I can see why a player would just put his head down and not say anything

Perhaps.

But if you are dealing with three injuries, one of them most commonly seen in CAR ACCIDENT VICTIMS, then it's time to say something.

Yes sir. And you are one of the guys who actually gets this, and understands.

Kid has gone from "oh, Coach Dawson is giving me sooooo much freedom and I love it" to "oh, Coach Dawson, I don't want the freedom, take the freedom away and tell me what to do on every play" in the span of a few months.

I feel bad for TVD for the three injuries. I don't feel bad about his MULTIPLE attempts to get paid more.

But I am ESPECIALLY ****ed off by this late-season excuse-making about "gray areas" and "not wanting to improvise".
I still need someone to explain to me how the injuries made him not read the play to target an open receiver correctly, and throw the ball to somebody on the complete opposite side of the field double covered.

Yes, I would get if the injuries made the ball sail or go short or not have zip, but what does that have to do with getting the read completely wrong unless he was blind or had brain damage.

There are posters here who have relayed info that TVD was not exactly a strong student of film. I can't imagine working with a QB who won't put in the time to study film.
He watched a lot of film. Hear he is a good cell phone cinematographer

TVD and Drew Rosenhause might fool some casual fans with their latest narrative why he failed here blaming others but not himself but film doesn’t lie. NFL scouts, GMs and college coaches will see through this BS. The only offense he can run is a up tempo, single read on one side of the field and the OC tells him who to throw the ball to on each play. He can’t read defenses and his kryptonite is a Zone defense. An OC has to dumb it down to a basic level that plays become predictable.

The injuries 100 percent affected driving the ball downfield and a couple of the picks it was obvious. He also made horrible decisions with the ball too. Fact is he should’ve been out there for a couple games. On top of being put in a bad situation the game plans were bad at times. Go rewatch UL and BC then go compare to previous games. Motion and formations alone were different. Once again all involved were at fault from Tvd up to coaches. I know some people want to put it all on the player because he can just be flushed down the toilet and the coaches remain.

Knighton on wheel routes and angle routes that were WIDE OPEN. Last i checked it was Harley’s best year.

Not to mention Mallory on those routes when we lined up like a blocker and went straight up field. Dude must have had 150+ yards on that route alone.

So Mario didn’t know all this after last year? I mean he watches him every day yet he begged him to come back both years? And he was paid VERY WELL!! You’d think the coach that’s at practice every day could see all of this but still ran two offenses that didn’t play to his strengths and weaknesses. Weird.

I agree that the proper allocation of blame is probably 60-40 TVD-to-coaches.

But I DEFINITELY have a problem with TVD putting out this false narrative to make himself look better.

And I wish we would have played Emory for AT LEAST the UVa game, maybe even NC State too. Purely from a "give the injuries time to heal" standpoint.

I’m not putting it all on him. Nor discounting injuries. But injury doesn’t usually effect a read to the wrong side, just the execution of the play, even if a poorly designed one with two receivers running into each other (hello Shane)

I would take anything a kid tells a reporter with grain of salt. Lol. You guys are too smart for this. Yes, injury’s didn’t help but TVD is leaving a lot of **** out. Both party’s are happy to move on.

Yes!!! We finally ran this play against BC for a reception, unfortunately it was the first time we ran it all season.

Nothing will make him look better. What I find funny is the people putting it all on him and this is year two of them doing that lol. It’s never the coaches even though Mario chose this guy TWICE!!!!!!!!! He put all his eggs in the Tvd carton multiple times so what does they say about him?

We pray someone else (besides Bam Bam) is choosing the qb for next year! lol

You have to be kidding me.

We heard AT THE BEGINNING OF THE SEASON that Dawson had worked with TVD to help eliminate plays that TVD didn't feel comfortable with. So this is complete bull****.

"Little to nothing to help him with the offense"? That's just wrong. Everything was great at the beginning of the season.

And, look, I'm not standing here "100% for TVD" or "100% against TVD". I will speak openly about Tyler having THREE serious and problematic injuries this year.

But this nonsense about "I need everything spoon-fed to me" is just garbage. Sooooo...TVD needed to be told NOT to take the run option at the end of the play? WHAT IN THE ACTUAL ****? He can't improvise? He needs to be programmed like a robot? Does he really think he has a future in the NFL if he needs an OC to script his every move?

This is just crap. I really like TVD's talent and ability, but if he truly can't live with any gray area, then he will not have a professional career. It's just that simple.

I hope that Dan Radakovich can bring back the men's golf program, because that's the only athletic future for TVD.
