Mizz's Sam

Getting tired of this whole *** thing. It's so popular now. You can't watch a family drama without a *** couple in the cast. Does this have to be constantly shoved down out throats now? America is trying so hard to be PC that it's getting comical. I don't care what people's sexual preferences are when sports is concerned. Martina Navratilova came out 30 years ago when she was blowing everyone off the court. Didn't matter then, doesn't matter now. I have a *** friend and we play hoops together and I'm not offended by his gayness and that makes me a better person? Swell.

You are a dinosaur. The majority doesn't agree with that attitude anymore. The world is moving towards more tolerance, not less.

What you are advocating is not tolerance but rather acceptance and celebration of his lifestyle. Matter of fact, Kirijax was actually demonstrating and conveying tolerance. So is tolerance no longer what's required? Now we've moved onto forced acceptance and forced celebration? Where's the tolerance for those who disagree with that lifestyle?

You are not forced to celebrate his "lifestyle" the same way you are not forced to celebrate that he is black. Doesn't change the fact that he was born that way. And for that reason alone, those of us with a brain tend to accept minorities and homosexuals these days. I'm guessing you're that guy that believes this dude chose to be ***, right?

From the article:

But make no mistake, it is also the day that Missouri defensive end Michael Sam's stock in the NFL Draft began to drop because he announced he was ***. He was already sliding due to concerns over the dreaded 'tweener label -- with some scouts viewing him as too short for defensive end and a project to convert to stand-up linebacker following an inconsistent week at the Senior Bowl.

NFLDraftScout.com has Sam ranked as the No. 110 overall prospect. An initial drop to 160 from 90 on Monday morning was part of a comprehensive adjustment in the rankings leading up to next week's Scouting Combine that generated movement among hundreds of prospects. The bottom line is Sam's announcement will affect his position on the draft boards of some teams, but NFLDraftScout.com currently projects him as a third- to fourth-round prospect overall, with all factors considered.

And this is the rub, you can't quantitatively measure if it did or didn't lower his stock. Knowing the media as I do, they will spin the story to best fit their need, viewership.

Fair point, however I would argue that the NFL will look for a similar rational when this guy goes undrafted which I believe he will be at this point.

they talk about tebow's leadership, at least Sam's admits it to the public. hahahaha

Comes out and admits he is ***. Good for him as a 1st team All-American

Why does the *** community think that people care about what they like in the bedroom? Do we need to hear that Duke Johnson likes anal?

i think that in this case it's noteworthy. breaking that barrier in the nfl is huge because it completely destroys the notion that all *** dudes are effeminate sissies. this kid had 11.5 sacks and 19 tackles for loss this season. between this, kluwe and ayanbadejo's comments, and jason collins coming out, this is a huge step towards social progress as it pertains to men's sports.

Does the db in db305 stand for d1ck booty? You're going super over the top for the *** in this thread, slick.

Perhaps it wasn't just for you, lamp. Perhaps it was for other *** athletes and people who struggling with backlash stemming from being homosexual. Perhaps it's to show evolution as a society towards acceptance and tolerance of a traditionally marginalized class of individuals. Do you typically care about every news story run by the media and ESPN? Not meant to come off adversarial. Just trying to show another perspective.

Backlash? If anything I think society shows favoritism towards homosexuals.. especially with television/celebrities. The thing about acceptance & tolerance is that society makes it seem that if a person doesn't believe the two go hand & hand, they're a bigot. That's not the case. I will never agree with his lifestyle.. but that doesn't mean I have any malice towards him. It's disturbing people keep saying this is equivalent to black athletes breaking the color barrier.. Not even close.

What would you see as the appropriate response to his "coming out?" A negative, neutral or positive response?

And what does it matter to you if someone believes he chose to be ***? Are you saying you wouldn't tolerate and accept that viewpoint? Would seem to be pretty close minded if so.

My personal opinion is that we should not have to tolerate anyone's opinion or persuasion. Tolerate someone's existence, but not their views or way of life if they differ from our own. I appreciate the free exchange of ideas and opinion. I guess that's the non-fascist part of me. I welcome opposing views and opinions. If my argument is not strong enough to persuade someone, I won't resort to shouting down or the use of so-called "popular opinion". Even if my opinion is held by the majority.

/waiting for the intellectually dishonest to confer upon me an opinion that is not my own

So you believe a person is born *** & has no choice in having homosexual relations with a person of the same ***?

...those of us with a brain...

This is how the 21st century liberal shows "tolerance". They are the first ones to toss insults while telling to you accept everyone. Just like the Chick Fil A thing......

Chick Fil A: "we support the Biblical definition of marriage"
****: "F*ck you you intolerant pieces of s*it. We hope you all die and we will never eat there again."

Whats Sam's point? Who cares what you do in your private life. If you are part of the biologically aberrant 2 percent live your life. Its not progressive .It isnt new it has existed forever. I am tired of this stuff being pushed as a casual lifestyle choice. It isnt. Its destructive to society and a major reason why ancient Rome and Greece fell.
It shouldnt be pushed on TV and in schools. It is playing with fire.

This isn't accurate at all. The backlash is not on the same level as the color barrier - I'm not arguing that - but that statement is misinformed.

Fair enough. I could be totally wrong.. but it sure seems that way with television/public eye.
